💠Chapter 23: After The Storm💠
~~~~~~~~~Third Person POV~~~~~~~~~
It has been over a month since all the chaos.
It has been over a month since Ryan's death...
The Cipher twins ended up officially living with the Anderson-Riveras, which they were relieved to know.
They all decided to give Alyse a proper birthday party, inviting a few of her friends from school. Hey, better late than never, right?
Sage sat on the edge of her bed since she and Noah now owned the previous guest room. She looked at the golden necklace with a small pink flower pendant in the little box, a small smile on her face.
"I hope she likes it..." She thought before standing up, heading downstairs.
The smell of cake enveloped the room, making her sniff the air in delight. Aiden really did make the best baked goods in all of town.
Alyse sat on the couch with her friends Paula, Mia, and CJ, talking and laughing. Sage walked over, making Alyse smile. "What took you so long?"
It was still surprising to Sage that even through all they've been through, Alyse was still able to keep her positive attitude and cheerfulness lit up inside.
Sage chuckled. "Sorry, I had to pick something up."
Alyse's eyes went down to the little box in Sage's hands, making her tilt her head in confusion. "What's that?"
"Well, I can't go to a birthday party without a birthday gift, can I?" She offered the box to the younger girl who didn't hesitate to take it.
She inspected the box with a curious look before opening it, her eyes widening at the necklace. "It's beautiful...!!!"
"R-really? I was afraid you weren't gonna like it or-" Before she could finish, Alyse wrapped her in a tight embrace, making Sage tense up a little.
"I love it, thank you..."
Sage smiled at her response, hugging her back before they both pulled away. Alyse went back to her friends before Sage looked around.
Aiden was nowhere in the room, and it kind of worried her. He'd want to be here for his little sister, wouldn't he?
She walked over to Iv who was leaning against the counter, a mug on her hand. "Hey, Iv."
"Yo."
"Have you seen Aiden anywhere? I haven't seen him in a while."
Iv gave her a shrug. "I'm not too sure, but I saw him leave the house a while ago. Don't know if he's still out, though."
"Alright, thanks." With that, Sage went outside. She looked to the woods in front of her, wondering where he could've gone off to.
An idea soon came into her head, starting to walk further from the house. She knew him too well to know where he might be.
It didn't take long for her to find her boyfriend not too far in the woods. His hands were in his pockets, his bangs softly blowing with the breeze as he stared down at the familiar stone on the ground.
Sage's heart sank at the sight. Not wanting to startle him, she spoke while still being a few feet away. "Hey..."
Aiden jumped a little, soon turning over, relaxing once knowing who it was. "Hey..."
She walked over, now standing beside him. Aiden looked back at the stone, his gaze hazy.
Sage remained quiet for a few seconds, then looked up at him. "It's not your fault, you know..."
He didn't respond, nor did he look away. She gently placed a hand on his shoulder, making him turn his head to her. "He's finally at peace now..."
Aiden stared at her; she could see the tears forming in his eyes. He then buried his face on her head with a sigh. "I know... I just... wish things could've ended differently..."
"I know you do, A..." She gently cupped his cheek, caressing it with her thumb. "But at least now we can say we're safe... right...?"
He managed to give her a small smile. "Yeah... I don't know what I would've done if I lost you..."
He gently grabbed her hand, tangling his fingers with hers before pressing his forehead against hers. "And thankfully, I have you to help me through this..."
Sage gently gripped his hand with a warm smile. "And I you..."
"I love you, Sage... more than you could ever imagine..."
"I love you too, Aiden... I always have, and I always will..."
Both leaned in, softly kissing each other. They pulled away, smiling softly at the other, comforted by each other's presence.
Soon enough, Sage spoke. "We should head back, don't want anyone to worry..."
Aiden nodded in response, pulling away. She hugged his arm, making him smile before resting his head on hers, making their way back home.
Inside the jail cell, she hummed the soft lullaby she had grown used to, gracefully waltzing throughout the room.
"Mm, hmm, mm~" She hummed her favorite song.
The dark indigo orb forming in her hands before gracefully floating around her as she danced.
Waltzing over to her far wall, she continued to hum the soft melody. She was now standing in front of the picture that gave her a reason to stay sane.
Aiden, Iv, and Alyse. They were smiling brightly at the camera.
She chuckled, but it wasn't of joy. Her long nails cut through a bit of the picture, her eyes flickering to black for a second.
"Just you wait, my darlings~..."
Waltzing back to her bad, she continued to hum the fairytale-like melody.
"Just you wait~..."
