💠Chapter 17: Rescue Mission💠

~~~~~~~~~Alyse's POV~~~~~~~~~
I sat on the ground, tracing the lines in between the brick floors. Out of all days this could happen, why my birthday...? I let out a sigh, my gaze shifting over to the girl.
Maybe I could start a conversation?
"Savanna, huh?" I asked, remembering what Ryan had called her. "That's a nice name."
She didn't look up, cleaning her dagger. "If you're trying to start smalltalk, you're wasting your breath."
I let out a huff, crossing my arms. "Why, does tomato head not allow you to talk to prisoners?" She didn't respond, ignoring me. So I asked another question. "Why do you even work for him, anyways?"
She finally looked up with a glare. "Listen, munchkin, what I do and why I do it is none of your business. And if you want to live longer, you'll keep your mouth shut."
My expression firm as I stood up, my eyes focusing on her. "Seems to me like you can't do anything unless Ryan tells you to."
She remained quiet for a few seconds before letting out a scoff, crossing her leg over the other. "Alright, you got guts, for someone as young as you."
"I know a lot more than I'm given credit for. My age and intelligence aren't the same thing."
She raised an eyebrow, holding her dagger. "Alright, munchkin, I can tell you're a tough nut to crack. Alyssa, was it?"
"Alyse is fine."
"Alright, Alyse, what makes you so sure you can just demand answers from me?" She asked, crossing her arms.
I tilted my head, a bit confused at her question. "I'm not demanding answers. I'm just asking because I'm curious. Ryan's a bad man, so why work for him?"
She rolled her eyes. "It's not like there's anywhere else for me to go. I've lived here for over five years, and I'm not the only one." She leaned forward, resting her arms on her legs as a smirk grew on her face. "Even your precious Cipher friends are a part of this place."
"What's that suppose to mean...?"
"Do you really believe they think of you as their friend? You were only a part of their mission." Her smirk grew wider.
I didn't understand what she meant. Mission? What mission? Of course they consider me their friend.
Right...?
"Aw, look, she's in doubt now~!" I heard Savanna say as I looked at my feet. She walked over to be right in front of me, her eyes flickering to pink for a split second.
"Every moment you spent with those twins, every compliment, every laugh, every smile, it was all fake. Just a lie to win your trust so they could gain what they wanted all along."
I was frozen in place, my eyes wide as tears formed in them. "N-no, no, that's- that's not t-true...!"
"Isn't it? They just appeared one day, asking for a place to stay, no question to where they came from, or what happened before. Admit it, you and your siblings were used. They never cared about any of you, never have, and they never will..."
Her last words rang in my head as I felt a few tears down my cheeks. She was wrong, I knew she was wrong!
Sage was my best friend, she would never do that! Neither of them would!
"N-no, you're wrong, they're good people, they'd never hurt us."
Savanna chuckled in amusement, lifting up my head by placing a finger under my chin. "Believe all you want, but soon you'll see that all of this? It's true."
That's when she was suddenly knocked to the side, crashing into the wall. I let out a gasp as I backed away from the iron bars.
I saw Sage running over, glowing a dark blue as she held the lock, breaking it before opening cell and wrapping me in a tight hug. "Oh, thank God I found you!!!"
I was gonna hug her back, but she pulled away before I had the chance, kneeling down to my eye level as she held my shoulders. "Are you okay?!? A-are you hurt?!? Did anyone do anything to you?!?"
"I'm fine, Sage, I'm ok...!" I said, trying to forget everything Savanna had told me.
We both turned at the sound of Savanna's groans, seeing her hold her shoulder with an angry glare. Sage glared back.
"Heh, Sagebrush, it's been a while."
Sage growled, standing in front of me. "Savanna, Ryan's loyal little guinea pig."
Savanna scoffed, regaining her poster. "You're the one to talk, best assassin of the year."
Sage tensed up at her words, her hand bawling into a fist. Assassin...?
Savanna began to glow pink, Sage growing a bit pale. "Alyse, run."
"What?!?"
"RUN!!!"
As she yelled, Savanna lunched at her, holding a sword. Sage quickly formed one of her own, blocking her attack as she gritted her teeth. "Alyse, go!!!"
I gulped before starting to run away. I didn't know where I was, or where I was going, but I did as I was told.
I ran down many hallways and turned many corners, not knowing where they would take me, my legs beginning to grow tired. As I turned one of the corners, I bumped into something, forcing me to walk back as I softly gripped my nose.
"Alyse!" I looked up as someone called my name, seeing Noah. I let out a sigh of relief as he kneeled down to my eye level. "What happened?"
"S-Sage got me out of the cell, but she's fighting with someone...!" He grew worried at my explanation before standing back up.
"Do you know where she is?"
"N-not exactly, but I-I know we were in some dungeons..." I responded, nervously gripping my wrist.
He opened his mouth to speak when a sudden purple orb crashed in between. I screamed in surprise, and he soon stood in front of me.
A girl with light skin and dark brown hair that reached her shoulders stood at the other end of the hall. Her hair tips were purple, along with her top, heels, and even her eyes, while her shorts were white.
I noticed Noah grow tense, a small yet angry glare on his face.
Her gaze soon shifted to me, sending chills down my spine. She let out a slight chuckle. "Weren't you sent to eliminate your targets?"
He remained quiet, though I saw him turn a bit pale. The girl smirked, a purple orb appearing on her right hand. "Maybe I'll take care of them myself."
My eyes widened at the orb as I let out a small gasp. Noah kneeled down beside me, whispering. "When I tell you to, you're gonna run back the way you came from, then take two lefts, three rights, and another left. Got it?"
I nodded, afraid to really say anything. He then stood up, a sword forming on his hand as the girl reached back to throw the orb.
"Now!!!"
As told, I ran back down the previous hallway, following his introductions. I didn't know where they led to, but hopefully I could find help, or just escape from this place.
Once I followed all the steps, I entered a small room, stopping to catch my breath. However, I was soon wrapped in a tight hug. Opening my eyes, I saw my siblings with their arms around me, and I didn't hesitate to hug back.
Soon pulling away, Aiden kneeled down, cupping my face. "You okay...?"
I nodded. "Yeah, but Sage and Noah might be in trouble..."
Both exchanged a glance, and soon after we heard a loud explosion, startling us all. We all left the room to see both twins fighting Savanna and the other girl.
They turned their gaze to us, both girls with a deadly glare. "And he calls them his best assassins?" Savanna muttered. I saw both of my siblings forming weapons in their hands, ready to fight, when the other girl shot an orb through the roof.
Almost immediately after, many people ran inside, capturing us all. We were surrounded by a dark auras, unable to move, not even an inch.
It didn't take a genius to know whatever's gonna happen next was gonna be bad..
