Preface
This story will be posted to both Wattpad and AO3 by yours truly. Wattpad will have sooner updates for the time being, however AO3 will have the more polished and edited versions.
Due to Scarlet and Violet having two different academies and two different professors, I would like to state now, this is based off of scarlet, thus will have Professor Sada and take place at Naranja Academy.
Following that, I wanted to make a statement about character ages in this story. Since Naranja academy takes students of all ages, as you can see when you go on your treasure hunt and run into people in their 60s attending the academy, and actual six year olds who attend the same academy. Then it is also confirmed in DLC that the professor did a lot of research at the academy, so it had college level courses.
I have chosen to, for my story, say that the academy is divided into three schools. Junior academy, General admittance and Advanced schooling.
Junior academy is for ages five to eleven. It involves more basic education focused to help children in math, art, language, 'soft' science and some basics of Pokémon care.
General admittance is a seven year program, typically for people between the ages of twelve to nineteen. This is more focused on complex maths, history, 'hard' sciences, cooking and Pokémon battling. This is roughly equivalent to high school. They do have a special track in general admittance for those over the age of nineteen to basically get their equivalent of a GRE. They tend to have their own classroom to avoid ageist discrimination by other students. One more special thing about general admittance that is more like private schools is that by their third year (usually age 15) they pick a educational track to focus on such as STEM, Humanities, Economics, Pokémon battling. There is a general path too, but it is highly encouraged for students to pick a focus to further their futures. A person who transfers to the school, instead of starting at 12 like most of the others, would take placement tests to decide what year they should begin. Many potential students spend months studying and hiring special tutors so they would be able to stick with their age group.
The Advanced schooling is—well, college. To get into the advanced schooling, you must finish the seven year general admittance program or have some sort of equivalent from another school. This takes the chosen track from general admittance and becomes even more specific. Most people who enter the advanced schooling usually have a very set goal, such as a doctorate in Pokémon sciences, a degree in engineering, or hospitality. It is required for teachers to pass advanced schooling in their subject before being allowed to teach. The length of advanced schooling changes depending on one's goal. To become a teacher, it is a three to four year program. To get a doctorate to become a Pokémon professor, it can get upwards to seven or eight years.
All of the main characters are part of the typical general admittance program. I don't care whatever their canon ages are. I have adjusted them for the story.
Galatea: Original Character based off of scarlet/violet protagonist. 16 years old. She/Her. Fourth year transfer student at Naranja Academy. General track.
Nemona: 16 years old. She/Her. Fourth year student at Naranja Academy. General Track.
Penny: 15 years old. They/Them. Fifth Year student at Naranja Academy (Tested into higher classes). STEM Track.
Arven: 17 years old. He/Him. Fifth year student at Naranja Academy. Humanities Track.
Keiran: 14 years old. He/Him. Third year student at Blueberry Academy. Study-Abroad at Naranja: General Track.
Carmine: 17 years old. She/Her. Fifth year student at Blueberry Academy. Study-Abroad at Naranja: Humanities Track.
Their ages will probably be mentioned during the story, but I wanted to state them for clarity here just because I know it can be a—touchy subject. I currently am not sure how much romance will actually occur in the story.
This story has an undecided length. While there is a general "plot" for it to follow, there is no hard outline. The idea was character based instead of plot based.
Personal Disclaimer: While I love writing and love sharing what I write with others, this piece is also for myself, and processing trauma from my own school years. This is not being said to like say "no hate" It's more like a warning for others. This story has: Undiagnosed mental illness, learning disabilities, bullying, and mild violence. I will try to put a warning at the more graphic chapters, but in general I will be just rolling on. If any of these are triggers for you, please know your own limit and take care of yourself.
The main character has undiagnosed ADHD. I am not gonna be putting warning on every chapter, because it is gonna pretty much affect every chapter to some degree.
Due to all of the above, it heavily contributes to the fact that this story will pretty much be ongoing indefinitely and there will be more sort of "filler" events instead of a clear plot direction. Also-- absolutely a Mary Sue OC and I am okay with that.
Having said all that, thank you and I hope you guys enjoy.
