Chapter 2
THIRTEEN YEARS LATER
Location: Virginia, USA
"Come on Pierre! Don't be so slow or we'll miss the sunset!" Aura exclaimed to her younger, violet-eyed brother.
"But you are so much faster than I Big Sis! And I'm only twelve!" Pierre complained as he ran beside her, his breathing heavy.
An airy laugh burst forth from her lips, "At your age many boys have bundles of energy!"
With determination set on his features Pierre began to push his gangly legs further.
Aura grinned, her feet coming to a stop. The desert area was empty, a few sand dunes scattered about.
"It's 6:45," Pierre muttered impatiently through his scarf, "I'm missing my show."
"You mean The Big Bang Theory? That show aired nearly a century ago," she murmured, her eyes darting towards the west.
Just then, the sandy dunes began to break and grass erupted from the ground, taking in the last good rays of sunshine.
"Look Pierre," she said with awe, pointing towards the west. The sun had begun to set, the blue sky turning into a ray of oranges, red, and purples.
His violet eyes widened as they took in the scenery, "I don't regret missing it," he said with a gasp.
Aura grinned, her lithe body standing on her toes. The sun slowly began to set and the chill of the night began to appear.
The grass slowly began to curl and slip underneath the sand. With a curse she grabbed Pierre's arm and pulled him towards the trek home, "Hurry or mother will get mad!"
"If we're late for dinner it'll be your fault!" Pierre exclaimed, pushing his body forward towards the house.
Aura, not wanting to receive their mother's wrath they ran across the sandy dunes arriving breathlessly a few moments later at their metallic front door which slid open once it saw their forms, revealing a man with a stern look on his handsome features.
"What were you two doing?" their father said, his muscled arms crossed over his chest.
Aura and Pierre smiled bashfully, "We wanted to catch the sunset."
"We took precautionary measures," Pierre exclaimed pointing at their thick desert clothes.
"Get inside before you freeze to death," he spoke rubbing both their heads despite their protests.
The heavenly smell of lasagna hung in the air, guiding Aura to the kitchen where five plates were piled high with the delicious pasta. She turned to her brother, a devious grin on his lips.
With the agility and silence of a silent predator the siblings reached for a piece of lasagna.
"Don't you dare!" their violet eyed mother said with a stern tone, her hands grasping a pitcher of blue lemonade.
The siblings blushed and put both of their hands behind their backs.
"Caught them red-handed Grey," Grandfather Core said from behind, his leathery hands on both their shoulders.
Aura watched her mother's lips pull up into a grin,"Go get ready for supper."
_______________
Location: Intergalactic School of Royals, Sector 7 of Unknown
"You broke the rules again Ruka," Drax rasped, trying to catch his breath.
"Rules were meant to be broken," Ruka said as he tried to catch his own, his mischievous trademark smirk on his dark lips.
"Rules are to keep the universe from plunging into chaos," Master Yoda said as he approached the two friends who were fighting in the training room of the prestigious Intergalactic Academy of Royals. His mentor's long white hair was pulled away from his wrinkled face, a dark cloak hiding the elderly man's well fit form.
Ruka grinned sheepishly, flashing his ivory teeth that stood out against his midnight skin.
"Are you two ready to represent your families at the festival?" Master Yoda said, pulling out a tablet from his green robe.
The two Princes nodded, "Do you remember where the festival is going to take place?"
"At the Andromeda, just on the other side of the Milky Way. You're to report to the port before sunrise," Yoda said, giving a glare to Drax, who was accustomed to waking up after sunrise.
"Don't worry Master Yoda, I promise to wake up early," Prince Drax swore.
The next day...
Prince Drax cursed under his breath as he removed his skin tight pajamas. Drax was sure he'd set the alarm for three in the morning but instead, his clock read nine in the morning. He was very late and the rest of the royals had already taken off long before him.
Desperate times call for desperate measures, he thought as a plan formed in his mind.
Quickly, he put on his disguise, a tactic he learned when he wanted to venture beyond the school's walls for a little fondue with the fellow royal ladies at the other school.
Clad in white garb, fit for a soldier, he slipped from his room and made his way towards the transport pods.
His fingers touched the sleek, white pod when an unfamiliar voice spoke behind him.
"Soldier? What are you doing here?"
Drax tensed and turned to face a stern looking alien with yellow skin and blue orbs, his two tusks protruding from his upper blue lip.
An Froior, he thought, they have a weakness for food.
Drax grinned, "Apologies sir. I was just finding a good place to rest. My stomach feels like it's about to burst from that breakfast buffet that they were giving at the cafeteria."
The Froior's eyes widened, "Buffet?"
Drax nodded but the alien never noticed because he had taken off in search for food.
The prince let out a breath he didn't know was holding. Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a synthetic but realistically looking thumb which held his false identity. With a single touch of the thumb against the invisible scanner the pod activated. A door appeared on the side, sliding open with a soft hiss.
"Welcome Drew," the pod said, when Drax stepped into the small, sleek machine, his body immediately forced to sit in the single seat inside the confining pod.
"To Andromeda, Planet Trask, Festival of Lights," he said.
"Destination and date confirmed," a feminine robotic voice spoke as the pod rose into the air and dashed forth with speed of light.
Drax leaned back and grinned smugly to himself. At this rate, he should arrive before the rest of the royals do.
After all, a single trip in this pod would only take two hours.
"Would you like some music sir?" the voice said.
"Yes. Something... Classical," he said as he got comfortable in his seat.
There's a lady who's sure all that glitters gold. And she's buying a stairway to heaven...
To the ancient melody of Led Zeppelin, his mind slowly sank into the depths of the song that when his pod was attacked he was jarred awake the robotic voice.
"Sir, it appears the pod is under attack by hostile forces," the voice said.
"Who?" Drax said, his deft fingers flying frantically over the screen to access the map as well as plasma weapons.
"The Loküvma sir."
Drax cursed under his breath, "Those human hating aliens," he muttered. Two explosions were heard from the side, forcing the pod to veer to the right.
"Take us to the nearest hospitable planet," Drax commanded, his fingers clenching the armrests of his chair.
The voice was about to speak when another explosion was heard. Steel barriers soon built up around him and the last thing he saw was a blue round planet with patches of land visible.
"Planet Earth," he whispered before the barriers covered his view.
Sorry for not updating on this story. I was working on others.
