New decisions
Shadows played on walls as moonlight sneak in bedroom. It showed girl without any hair and her blue cat sleeping on girl’s head, covering it like a hat. Girl’s eyes flew open when she heard noise. She looked around dark room not knowing what to look for. Shadows on walls looked scary and her heart raced up as she heard mumbling. She didn’t recognize voices. Green eyes of Nora Jordan slowly got up searching for her phone. She couldn’t find it. She cursed her mother inside her head. Radiation of her phone could cause her cancer again, but she needed some light. Lady meowed. Voices stopped mumbling.
”She’s awake!” someone said
Nora covered herself until her nose and looked in the dark. Her sensitive eyes couldn’t tell that there was anything and than lights went on. Nora screamed covering herself.
”What is wrong my dear?” new voice asked
Hand, small one went over her cover.
”Go away.” she whined
”But my princess.” this was man’s voice
”Don’t touch me!” Nora cried getting away in her cover
Voices became louder. She didn’t want to listen to them.
”This is only a nightmare. They are not real. They are not real.” She rocked back and front whispering
Voices died out. She removed cover from her head looking in empty room.
”It was a dream, just a dream” she calmed herself before closing her eyes letting Lady’s purring calm her down
Blue eyes watched as tiny girl covered herself.
”She forgot us.” he whispered
Little elf got his hand tugging him.
”She was there for two years. Everything will be great now when she is back.”
”I hope” with that room went silent again.
Next morning Nora woke up to meowing sound. Lady was on window showing her at something. Nora got up and came closer to window. She removed light purple curtains and looked down. Her face narrowed when she saw a car in front of her house. Like on invisible sign there was knock on her door. Her nanny and best friend Gina came in.
”Let’s get you ready, dear.” she cracked a smile and helped poor girl to get dressed
For Gina Claris, Nora was a hero. She fought cancer and won the battle, she grew up without father and with reckless mother.
”Who’s here?” Nora asked as they got in elevator.
”Tutor” Mrs. Claris said under her breath.
But Nora heard her. They got in dining room. Her tutor was everything she didn’t like. He was old, half bald man with glasses. He sat on opposite end of long dining table. Nora sat on her place. Her mother got in moments later. Her dyed blonde hair flew behind her as she gave her best smile.
”Mr. Jones.” Nora raised her brow “How nice of you to come in such short notice”
”It is my pleasure” Nora felt sick
this old guy will be a lot of trouble.
”Only thing is I came here until my little brother gets better.” He said
Nora lift her head up interested.
”Oh.” Her mother said with frustration “Is he sick?” she asked
”You could say so.” He winked at Nora
She laughed in herself. Her mother seemed lost.
”He’s having a hangover.” Nora said
Man nodded.
”I don’t want some drunk man to teach my daughter!” her mother seemed more and more irritated
”Oh dear miss, I wouldn’t let him. He has a really good reason for it.” He smiled
Gina put a bowl of food in front of Nora and scrambled eggs for her tutor and Morgan. Nora gulped down her orange juice.
”What grade are you?” Mr. Jones send a smile to Nora
She shrugged.
”I lost two years.” she said
”How’”
Her spun fell down as she got up.
”I don’t like talking about it.” Nora went up closing the door behind her
”I am so sorry!” Morgan said to old man
”Cancer?” he asked
Morgan cracked a smile and nod.
”I want her to graduate this year, so that she can go back to her old life.” She said not letting her mask fall down
”It is nice that you want. But does she?” he removed his glasses and cleaned them on his shirt
”Of course she does!" offended Morgan got up
”Gina please show Mister Jones the door. We will see your brother this afternoon.” She said and walked off
letting out a breath mister Jones got up.
”Thank you for lovely breakfast. I will tell my brother.” with that he put on his hat and left.
Caged in her room Nora sat on her bed looking around her. Her brain cancer cost her some of her memories. But then again she was lucky to be alive. She pulled off her scarf covering her bold skull. Her fingers trailed over her skull and her disgust grew.
”Gina!” she yelled
Moment later Gina popped her gray hair in her room.
”Yes dear?” she asked
”I want a wig.” Nora said
”But sweetie..” old lady was cut off
”No Gina. Look at me!” green eyed girl demanded “I can see pity in your eyes for me. I don’t want it. I don’t need freaking pity! I am not crippled! I want to hide my shame.” She said
”What’s that noise!? I am trying to work here!” Morgan covered her mouth when she saw her hairless daughter
”I want a wig.” girl said
”What are you waiting for Gina!?” Morgan’s phone buzzed and she walked away
”I am going to store for about two hours. I will buy it then.” She smiled
”I want it to be black” girl said
”Yes sweetie.” Old woman hugged her
Nora buried her face in Gina’s crock and tear slipped from her eye. Gina was only one there for her.
”I am sorry for yelling at you” she cracked
”It’s alright. I could never get mad at you” Gina kissed her skull and left girl alone
Nora put blanket under her as she sat in front of her wall. It was only white wall in her baby blue room. She used to paint on it when she was younger. Her fingers trailed over drawings and stopped at one drawing. She drew it a day before her cancer was discovered. She had high fever and her head felt heavy, but still painting was alive. It looked like it would blink every second. She looked around the room and than kissed the painting. She giggled like little girl and stood up. She sat behind her desk and start drawing again. There was nothing childlike in her drawings. Nothing innocent. All she saw was dark and dangerous.
