ACT ONE ━━━  CHAPTER SIX,
this is solar! i've known her for over seven
thousand years and seen her cry... once

━━━━   PRESENT DAY, 2023.
◤ MUMBAI, INDIA.

𝓣he four Eternals watched with confused faces as they witness the shooting of a movie featuring Kingo. Solar silently watched the dancing and singing, slightly cringing a bit.

Once Kingo and his male backup dancers finished with their cut, a group of females replaced them in the middle, singing and dancing as Kingo watched intentively in the sides.

"Welcome." A sudden male voice speaking Hindi made their heads turn to the side to see a short man standing beside Sprite. He smiled at them brightly and introduced himself in English, "I am Karun Patel. Kingo's valet."

Ikaris and Sprite glanced at Solar and Sersi without saying anything and the two girls just stared back at Ikaris.

"It's truly an honor to be in the presence of the great Eternals."

At this, all their heads snapped back to Kingo's valet with astonished expressions. Solar raised her eyebrows at his statement.

He knows? Did Kingo tell him?

It didn't take even half a minute before the music ended and the dancers posed.

"Cut!" Kingo yelled instead of the director and the female lead looked back at him before she fixed her hair and smiled. "Okay, everyone, that was good. But we could do ten percent better. That was beautiful. Very, very good. Really, so good."

A stylish headed over to him and fixed his hair when he spotted the four Eternals, Ikaris and Sersi clapping slowly, still a little confused, while Solar and Sprite only stood still, and squealed excitedly.

"My friends from college are here!" He laughed joyfully and approached them, giving Ikaris a big hug. "Hello, boss! Perfect timing! Welcome to the set of 'Legend of Ikaris'."

Kingo saw Ikaris' confused expression and explained, I'm playing you!" He then gestured to his outfit, which was blue and gold with the same design as Ikaris' suit. "You like the costume?"

"We need to talk," Solar interrupted their conversation and Kingo turned to her, his eyes widening at the sight of the person he hasn't seen in centuries.

"Oh my God! Solar! You're actually here!" He exclaimed loudly and practically tackled her into a hug. The girl was taken aback and didn't hug back but Kingo was too focused on the fact that she was here that he didn't care. He pulled away and grinned while Solar only had a blank face on.

It was only then that Kingo realized that her barrier back up, making his grin fade away slowly and he stepped back.

Solar always had a barrier on before, she hid her emotions and her face always remained blank or expressionless. She barely smiled or laughed. That all changed when she had Druig.

Druig made her break that barrier.

But now since he was gone, it appears that she put it back on.

Kingo glanced at Ikaris and his face completely dropped when the stronger male held an expression that told Kingo that Solar did in fact put it back on.

On the way to Mumbai, she secretly placed the barrier back up without telling Ikaris, Sersi, and Sprite. Turns out that all four of them had just realized that it was back on because when they visited Solar in Korea, she was smiling and everything with those K-pop boys.

This is bad.

The movie star cleared his throat uncomfortably and then turned to Karun, acting as if nothing had happened. "Tell the director I have some notes for him."

"We need to talk to you in private," Sprite told him and jabbed her thumb at Karun.

"Oh, Karun, he's worked with me for 50 years. I trust him completely," Kingo said. "Actually, when we first met, he thought I was a vampire, and he tried to stake me through the heart."

"I have apologized so many times."

"Not quite enough times. Very close, though. I'll let you know."

Solar rolled her eyes and began to pick at her nails, getting bored and slowly becoming impatient.

Sersi noticed her behavior and nudged her side, making Solar sigh quietly and pay attention to Kingo.

"Oh, I have to get ready for the next scene. Come to my tent, we'll talk there. You guys are gonna love the next scene. I come in on a wire 'cause, you know, I can't fly."

The four Eternals followed Kingo into his tent.

"Wait, are we getting back together?"

"We need to talk," Sersi repeated. It's amazing how Kingo wasn't annoyed by the fact that they've repeated the same sentence multiple times.

Again, Kingo ignored her words and began to place eyeliner under his eyes. "I've been waiting for the day the world learns the true identity of the Shadow Warrior..."

Solar had enough and decided to break the news right there and then.

"Ajak's dead," She spoke bluntly, no sadness or grief evident on her face.

Kingo paused in his movements and set the makeup tool down slowly, turning around in his chair to face them.

"She was killed," Ikaris explained, "It was a Deviant."

Meanwhile, Karun was giving instructions in Hindi outside of the tent, unbeknownst to the fact of what was happening with his boss.

"The Deviants are back. We don't know how many there are," Ikaris stepped towards Kingo and placed his hand on the grieving man's shoulder. Kingo tensed up and looked at Ikaris through the mirror. "You need to come with us."

Kingo stood up and faced Ikaris before he completely walked past him and went outside, walking towards the other portion of the set they were moving to for the next shot, seeing the people waiting for him.

"I can't just go. I mean, all these people depend on me. We just started shooting this movie. It's the first of a trilogy. We just got BTS to do a cameo—" His voice broke at the end.

Solar heard what he said and furrowed her eyebrows when he mentioned her close friends. Kingo did a collab with BTS? Since when? She was definitely going to ask those boys about this once she gets back — that is if she actually will come back.

"Sir, may I say something?"

"Please don't say anything," Kingo told his valet but Karun didn't listen to him.

"I think you should go."

"I just said don't say anything!"

"Life affords no greater duty than to protect one's family!" Karun quoted dramatically. "Remember? It's your favorite line from The Shadow Warrior 2: Voyage of Time."

"Your family needs you."

━━━━━━━━━

"𝓢even thousand years," The door of the Kingo's private jet opened and he appeared with Karun holding a camera behind him. "That's how long the battle between Eternals and Deviants has raged for."

Ikaris sat in the minibar with Solar, he was eating something while she poured herself a glass of the first alcoholic thing she saw. The two of them glanced at the famous actor before they shared a glance, equally lost as to what was happening.

"You think I'm a movie star. Well, I am. But I am also..." Kingo paused for dramatics as Karun zoomed in on his face, "an Eternal."

"Kingo, what are you doing?"

"I think we should be remembered, so... I am making a documentary about us," Kingo pulled a face and then introduced the kid-looking Eternal. "You are about to meet my fellow Eternal, Sprite. Sprite, tell them about yourself."

"Oh, wait," Sprite pretended to get something from inside her jacket but instead, flipped Kingo off before she disappeared completely.

Karun turned the camera back to Kingo, only to capture Kingo's baffled face for a split second. "Okay, well, we'll circle back to her."

Solar nodded when Ikaris told her that he'll back, taking another sip of her drink. The male got off the stool with his own drink in hand and took the now empty seat beside Sersi just as Kingo introduced her.

"This is Sersi," The girl who was too occupied with her phone looked up at Kingo. "Sersi, tell them about yourself."

"We're rolling," Karun reminded her when she didn't say anything.

"Well, uh..." Sersi gulped and Ikaris amusingly took a sip of his drink, watching her. "I can change a rock into water. Uh, I could turn a rock into wood. Or a rock into metal. Actually, one time, I turned a rock into air."

"Cut," Kingo cut her off boredly. "Um, you know what? Why don't you think about it, and we'll get back to you, okay? Let's go."

Solar took a deep breath when she saw Kingo and Karun heading towards the minibar, where she was, from her peripheral vision.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Solar!" He stood beside her and Solar had to force herself to put on a small fake smile as she turned to the camera. "This is Solar! I've known her for over seven thousand years and seen her cry... once."

It was true. Everyone except for Druig had only seen her cry once.

Solar remembers that exact day.

Worst day of her entire life.

"Solar, tell us about yourself," He told her, hoping she would cooperate.

Solar originally didn't want to cooperate, she was planning on just ignoring him until he took the hint and left her alone, but then she got an idea and internally smirked, moving her body to face the camera.

She rested her arm on the minibar counter and leaned on her side, tilting her head as she made direct contact with Karun through the camera, making him tense up.

"Well, first of all, I'm Solar. Eternal of the Stars and the Planets and basically everything in the universe. I can turn anything into whatever I want, and I mean anything, even living, breathing beings."

Her voice was cold and cocky, and that only made Karun more intimidated by her. He nervously gulped and Solar smirked when she noticed, Kingo just rolled his eyes when he knew what she was doing.

"Continue..."

Solar glanced at Kingo for a brief moment before she continued with a smirk resting on her pink lips. "I can fly too," Her plan was to brag until she triggered Kingo. She saw him purse his lips at her statement and her smirk only grew wider. "I'm also the second strongest Eternal, not to brag or anything. I'm both a fighter and thinker, which is pretty amazing if I do say so myself. Oh! And I—"

"Okay, cut!" Kingo cut her off and gestured for Karun to stop filming, the valet obeyed and put the camera down but Solar didn't stop talking.

"I'm also BTS' closest friend, not like it's really something to brag about but—"

"Are you kidding?!" Kingo's mouth was wide open and his eyes were as big as his fist. "Is it actually true that you're that personal friend of BTS that everyone's been talking about? And by the way, that is definitely something to brag about! I can't believe this!"

Before she could even say anything, Kingo stormed away with Karun helplessly following behind him like a lost puppy.

Once he was out of earshot, Solar let out a laugh, amused that her plan worked.

"First time I've heard you laugh in five centuries, it feels nice to hear it again."

She turned her head and saw that Ikaris was back at his place beside her.

Instead of completely pretending that she had never even laughed in the first place, a soft smile stayed on her face as she looked at the male beside her.

"I guess you didn't fully put the barrier back on, only half of it," Ikaris said out loud before he suddenly turned serious. "Why did you put it back up, Solar?"

The girl sighed at his question, looking away from him and blankly staring at the rich dark brown wood of the minibar counter.

"To be honest, it was never truly gone. Ever since... that day, I put the barrier back up fully, but then I met some people and decided to decrease the power of it a bit. I didn't have it in me to fully remove it..."

"What made you hesitate?"

Solar pressed her lips together and placed her elbow on the counter, resting her face on her palm, her head facing Ikaris as she held eye contact with him.

"Because I didn't know how," She confessed and Ikaris frowned slightly at her answer. What does she mean by that? "I kept trying and trying to remove it but I couldn't. It was like it wasn't meant for me to break."

Both Ikaris and Solar knew what she meant by that.

She wasn't able to break the barrier because only one person could break it. And that was Druig.

The same Druig that abandoned her in Tenochtitlan exactly five hundred and two years ago. The same Druig who was the only ever person to make her change. The same Druig she fell in love with 6,500 years ago. The same Druig that still lives in her heart, even after he left her to be alone.

The same Druig that was her eternal love.

━━━━ 1521  AD.
◤ TENOCHTITLAN.

𝓣he distant sound of clamoring and screaming filled the female fighter and thinker's ears.

Solar walked alongside Thena towards where the others were. Due to the large amount of Deviants that appeared, the six fighters had to split up.

Makkari appeared beside Thena, the white-blonde-haired female walking in the middle of the two other fighters. Solar tried to block out the loud screams of the humans but it was way too much for her and the large wound on the side of her stomach made it worse for her.

So when they finally met up with the thinkers of the team, Druig immediately noticed her discomfort and rushed to her side. He trailed his eyes all over her body, looking for any injuries like he always did.

"Where are the others?"

"We had to split up," Makkari signed.

"There were more Deviants than you said," Thena told Phastos who had a transparent global design of the Earth to keep track of the Deviants.

"Well, I'm sure that was a lot of fun for you."

"It was."

Druig noticed the tiny whimper Solar let out when he wrapped his arms around her. He immediately pulled away and asked her if she was injured. The girl nodded and pointed at the large slash on the side of her stomach that he failed to notice.

His eyes widened in panic and instantly turned around to Ajak, who noticed and then looked to Solar, spotting the bleeding wound on her side.

While Phastos talked, Ajak rushed to Solar's side and hovered her hand atop the side of the injury, healing it quickly.

"Once the others kill these last Deviants, we will have eliminated them all from the planet."

The loud sound of gunshots made Solar flinch and Druig was quick to intertwine their fingers, pulling her close, making sure not to touch the area where she was injured in case she still felt pain from it.

All of them turned to where they saw a large group of humans holding guns and shooting multiple innocent beings who were trying to run away but failed to do so.

Druig slowly let go of his lover's hand and stepped forward, looking at where the gunshots were located, and glowed his eyes, about to control them when Ajak stopped him, yet again.

"Don't."

He shut his eyes and lowered his head slightly.

"We don't interfere in their wars."

None of them seemed to notice Thena twitching slightly in the back.

"This isn't war, it's genocide," Druig spoke and while the others couldn't notice it, Solar could hear the small ounce of pain lasing his words. "Their weapons have become too deadly. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea helping them advance, Phastos."

"Technology is a part of their evolutionary process, Druig," Phastos told him. "It's not exactly something that I can stop."

"No, you can't. But I can!"

Solar went infront of her lover, catching his attention by grabbing his large hand and sliding her fingers in between his.

"Druig..."

At the sound of her soft, angelic voice, Druig stared down at the woman he loves with all of his heart as he started to calm down.

"It's too late."

Sersi turned to Thena who had golden lines appearing on her face, appearing and then disappearing as she stared ahead.

"Thena?" The thinker called out for the female fighter.

"Everyone is going to die," was all Thena said before her eyes became all white.

Sersi cautiously turned to the goddess, "Are you okay? Thena?"

However, all she got in response was Thena conjuring up a spear and swinging it at Sersi. Thankfully, Makkari was quick enough and was able to speed both her and Sersi away before she got hit.

"Thena? Thena, no!" Phastos tried to approach her but she only swung at him, resulting in him landing on the ground to which Ajak instantly knelt down to his aid.

"Darling. Solar, don't you dare—" Druig tried to stop the girl from fighting Thena but he was too late since she had already begun to run to the fighter and plucked a strand of hair from her head, instantly turning it into a sword made from cosmic energy, similar to what Thena was wielding.

Once Thena saw her approaching, the blonde fighter charged at her with no hesitance at all.

Solar easily blocked her swing and flew up in the air, landing down to Thena from above. However, Thena was fast and made it so that her weapon grew longer, so when Solar was right about to slice her with her sword, the sharp end of Thena's sword that equalized in length pierced her chest, super close to her heart.

The first thing Solar heard that wasn't her loud gasp was Druig's loud scream.

Thena threw her off to the side with the blade still stuck in her chest but extracted it when Solar landed on the hard ground, rolling a little bit before she arched her back in pain.

Solar cried out loudly and scrunched her face up from the immense pain rushing through her whole body.

As if he teleported, Druig was immediately at her side, cradling her in his arm as tears escaped his eyes.

"My darling Solar, you're going to be alright," He told her softly, grabbing her hand which she squeezed tightly, tears escaping her eyes, which Druig wiped off. "It's okay, you're going to be okay." The way he spoke almost seemed like he was trying to convince himself instead of her.

Makkari witnessed the whole thing and sped towards Thena, wrapping her hands around the fighter's neck and dragging her but it only ended with her also getting stabbed in the stomach.

Thena swung her spear again but this time, it impaled the skin of a person. Ajak stood there with her hand outstretched, the blade piercing through her palm.

Thena brought the spear back and Ajak immediately healed her hand before golden lines appeared all over her hands. Ajak approached Thena and faced her palm to her face.

Whatever Ajak was doing seemed to work since the spear disappeared and Thena's eyes went to normal.

"Don't listen to your head, Thena. Listen to my voice. You are safe. You are loved. You're our Thena."

Just when it was working, a gunshot was heard and Thena snapped again.

The two fought until Ajak got stapped in her stomach.

Gilgamesh arrived right then and wrapped his arms around Thena, pulling her back. "Hey, Thena! Hey! Stop, stop, stop!" But Thena managed to escape from his hold.

While Gilgamesh and Thena fought, Ajak finally went over to Solar and Druig. The girl was letting out painful cries, breaking Druig's heart as he did his best to help her but both of them knew he couldn't do anything to stop the pain.

"Oh, Solar," Ajak kneeled down and looked at Solar with a concerned expression. The healer wasted no time in beginning to heal the girl but for some reason, Solar passed out right before Ajak could heal her.

Druig's eyes widened and he began to panic even more. "W-What happened?! Why did she pass out?" He turned to Ajak with a scared look.

"I'm not sure—"

"You're not sure?!" Druig yelled, cutting her off. "My girlfriend just passed out, she could be dead, Ajak! And you're saying that you don't know what's happening to her?"

"Druig, calm down," Ajak told him calmly as she finished healing Solar, but the girl didn't wake up yet.

Druig was extremely angry right now and he took all of his anger out.

"Calm down!?" He scoffed loudly. "You're seriously telling me to calm down when Solar could be dead right now! She hasn't even woken up yet! What's going to happen to her, Ajak?! Will she be okay? Please tell me she'll be okay..."

Druig started to sob uncontrollably and Ajak placed her hand on his shoulder.

"I can't afford to lose her," His voice broke as he stroked her cheek lovingly, his tears dropping on her black suit. "Please... please tell me she'll be alright. I need to know, please! Otherwise, I'll go insane... please."

Ajak pulled Druig to her and brought him into a motherly embrace, rubbing his back softly as he sobbed on her shoulder.

"She'll be okay, Druig. I promise."

━━━━━━━━━

𝓓ruig never left his lover's side as she laid on the raised altar, still not awake. He was beginning to doubt if she would ever wake up but he knew that she would never leave him so he waited and waited.

"I thought Mahd Wy'ry was a myth," Sersi said as she stared at Thena who was laying down on another altar beside Solar. The female thinker glanced at her female friend who still hadn't woken up and then at Druig who sat beside her unconscious body, holding her hands in his as he kissed the back of it and whispered lovely things to her.

Ikaris couldn't stop staring at Solar, the concern over her was the only thing he felt right now.

"There is no cure so no one really talks about it."

Just as Phastos said that, Thena's eyes shot open and a gasp left her lips. "What happened?"

"Thena. You attacked everyone. Wounded Sersi, Phastos, Makkari. You nearly killed Solar."

"You might've even actually killed her," Everyone in the room shuddered at the sound of Druig's cold voice.

Thena sat up, gasping loudly when she saw Solar's body laying on the altar beside hers. Thena turned to Druig and felt greatly intimidated as he glared deep into her soul.

"I'm so sorry... I didn't mean to," Thena apologized, her eyes becoming glassy as she stared at the unconscious female. "I don't remember."

"You have Mahd Wy'ry. Your mind is fracturing under the weight of your memories," Ajak explained and as Druig listened to her words, his blood started to boil, anger once again building up inside of him as his hold on Solar's hands tightened. "And all I can do is erase them so that you can start over. I will have to inform Arishem and take you back to the ship where we have the technology to help you."

"But she won't be Thena anymore," Makkari signed.

"What if it happens again? She could've killed you. She could've killed all of us," Kingo said and then looked at Solar. "Solar might actually be in a coma right now."

"Please. Please, I... I want to remember. I want to remember my life."

"Thena, I love you. But listen to me. It's not important if you remember or not. Your spirit will remain. You will always be Thena deep inside. Trust me."

"Why should she trust you?" Druig spoke up, lifting his head to look at Ajak with an accusing look. "You're asking her to let you erase who she is."

"Druig, I know you're upset, but—"

"Upset!?" Druig shouted loudly and he let go of Solar's hands and walked towards Ajak, standing infront of her. "We've trusted you for seven thousand years and look where you've gotten us. I've watched humans destroy eachother when I could stop it all in a heartbeat. Do you know what that does to someone after centuries?" His voice got softly at the last sentence, finally expressing his emotions. "Could our mission have been a mistake? Are we really helping these people build a better world, huh?"

He then turned his head to his Solar and a tear escaped from his eye.

"My darling Solar hasn't even woken up yet and I am dying inside as each minute passes by and she still isn't in my arm, staring at me with those pretty eyes of hers as she smiles big, making my heart full."

His voice turned softer when he looked at her and all of them noticed it.

A tear even escaped Sersi, Phastos, Ajak, and Sprite's eyes.

Druig then turned around and walked closer to the stairs, staring down at the fire and the havoc happening down there.

"We're just like the soldiers down there. Pawns to their leaders. Blinded by loyalty. It ends now."

His eyes glowed and he began to control all the humans on the battlefield. All of them dropped their weapons and just as Druig was about to do more, someone grabbed his shoulder and pushed him against the wall.

"Let them go."

"You're gonna have to make me," Druig stood up straight, having a staredown with Ikaris.

"Think about Solar, how would she feel about this?"

In a heartbeat, Druig wrapped his hand around Ikaris' throat in a threatening manner and glared daggers at him. In all honesty, Ikaris was a bit intimidated but kept on his strong facade.

"Don't you dare utter a word about her," Druig growled and squeezed Ikaris' throat. He kept on tightening his hand around Ikari's throat, not letting go when Ikaris began to struggle.

No one dared to stop them, knowing that it would be the wrong option to interfere.

"Druig?"

That voice.

Druig face dropped completely and his head snapped to where the voice came from at the speed of lightning, gasping loudly when he saw Solar sitting up, wide awake as she stared at both him and Ikaris in confusion.

Ikaris also turned his head and his eyes widened when he saw her awake.

"Solar..."

"What's happening?" She asked cluelessly, glancing at everyone in the room but none of them made eye contact with her. "Why is everyone acting weird? Did something happen while I was unconscious?"

Druig let go of Ikaris and ran to her, immediately wrapping his arms around her tightly as tears began to form in his eyes again. Solar laughed softly and hugged him back, kissing his temple lovingly.

After a moment, he pulled away and intertwined their fingers together before pulling her to stand up. Solar allowed himself to drag her towards the exit but much to Druig's irritation, Ikaris blocked his way.

"Where do you think you're going with her?"

"Why should I tell you?" He sneered, blocking Solar so Ikaris couldn't see her. "It's not like it's any of your business, Ikaris," He spat Ikaris' like venom, making the male clench his jaw.

"You can't leave with her."

Druig chuckled darkly and shook his head at the strongest Eternal, a scary look etching onto his face. "I always knew you had something for her."

"What on Earth are you talking about?" Ikaris put a pretty good act as he pretended not to understand what Druig was talking about when he knew exactly what he meant.

A smirk formed on Druig's lips as he stared up at Ikaris. "Oh, don't act like you don't know exactly what I'm talking about. I know all about your little pathetic crush on Solar."

Ikaris stayed silent for a moment before he cleared his throat, "You don't know what you're talking about."

"But since you knew she was in love with me, you didn't bother giving it a shot," Druig taunted Ikaris even more. Meanwhile, Solar stood behind her lover with a confused expression.

"By all means," Druig pulled Solar and handed her to Ikaris, who wrapped his arms around her before she could fall. Solar landed on Ikaris' chest with his arms around her waist and shoulders as she turned her head to Druig, frowning at him. "you can take her."

Solar's heart dropped at his words, was he actually going to leave her with Ikaris?

Druig didn't give them another glance as he walked past them and took a step down the stairs.

"If you want to stop me, you're gonna have to kill me," He said when he felt Ajak following after him.

Solar watched with tearful eyes as he walked away and down the stairs, not even daring to look back and give her one last look.

She was frozen as she watched him slowly disappear from her eyesight the more he advanced down the long flight of stairs.

It was only when he was halfway down that Solar acted out. She made an attempt to run after him but Ikaris prevented her from doing so.

"Ikaris let go of me! I have to follow after him!" Solar fought against Ikaris but he was stronger than her. "Ikaris! Let go of me right now!"

"It's no use, Solar," He told her in hopes that she would stop fighting. "He's gone."

"No, no," Tears flowed down her cheeks as she shook her head violently, in complete denial that Druig would actually leave her alone to suffer. "He can't leave me. He promised me he wouldn't!"

"Druig! Druig, come back!" She shouted at the top of her lungs, tears going down her face like a waterfall.

A waterfall...

"DRUIG!"

Her endless cries for her lover didn't stop until he had finally left with all the humans he controlled following him.

"Druig..." Solar had lost her voice and she completely gave up, collapsing to the floor, still in Ikaris' arms as she was on her knees, letting out loud and painful cries.

All the Eternals watched her with tears flowing down their cheeks.

This was the first time all of them had witnessed Solar actually crying.

It was the first and last time.

Druig walked with confidence as he lead the group of humans away from the place, and before he knew it, tears flowed down his cheeks, reality instantly hitting him like a truck.

Why did he leave her? How could he be so stupid?!

"I'm so sorry, my beautiful Solar."
