ACT ONE ━━━ CHAPTER FIVE,
❝ i won't tell if you won't ❞
━━━━ PRESENT DAY, 2023.
𝓢olar sat in the passenger seat while Sersi was in the driver's seat, leaving Ikaris and Sprite to stay in the back seat. Solar looked at the rearview mirror and saw Sprite resting her head on Ikaris' shoulder, fast asleep.
She smiled slightly, the image reminded her of her and Druig.
Druig. She hasn't spoken his name in five hundred years, it feels weird to know that she would soon be facing him.
She tore her eyes off the two Eternals in the back seat and looked outside the window.
"I remember the day you two finally got together," She spoke up, catching Sersi and Ikaris' attention. "I even remember your cute little wedding."
Sersi stared at the girl who had on an expressionless face for a brief moment before focusing back on the road while Ikaris only stared at the back of Solar's head with an unreadable look.
Neither of them spoke up after what Solar had said.
While Sersi and Ikaris were both thinking of different things, Solar was engulfed by a memory of the past.
━━━━ 575 BC.
◤ BABYLON.
𝓢olar sat with Druig on the sides while Phastos was creating something in the middle of the room. Sprite was laying on the table, bored out of her head as they waited for Ajak and Sersi to arrive.
It was originally a meeting for the thinkers of the Eternals but Druig decided to bring Solar along since the girl could be considered as a thinker. She's smart, her powers were a little similar to Sersi's, Solar could pass as both a thinker and a fighter.
Solar has just come back from a recent fight. The girl didn't have any major injuries, just a few bruises that Ajak easily healed.
Druig came back to where they sat and handed her an apple but before she took it in her hand, he moved it further away from her and gave her a pointed look. "Eat it this time, don't use your powers on it."
She nodded and took it from him, biting into the fruit. She looked up and saw Druig nod in approval, making her roll her eyes playfully.
He took his spot behind her, his back was rested against the wall with his legs outstretched infront of him. Solar shifted so that she was in between his legs with her back leaning comfortably on his chest.
Druig wrapped one arm around her while the other one held the food he took.
"Phastos," Ajak said once she entered the room. "Did you go to the party last night like I told you to?"
He scoffed. "The party, yeah," Phastos said, lying. "Yeah, it was-"
"He worked all night," Druig exposed him, earning a smack on the chest from Solar but he only laughed.
Solar couldn't help but smile, it was rare to hear him laugh like that.
Phastos turned to them, annoyed. "Who was talking to you?"
"Get a life," Ajak told the inventor. "And where is Sersi?"
"Late as usual," Sprite replied, spinning an object in her hands before putting it down and sitting up.
Phastos grabbed Ajak's hand and showed her his recent invention, "I'm sorry but I have something very exciting to show you, okay? Wait till you see this." He proudly showcased it to her but Ajak seemed mildly confused.
Druig went to stand up again but Solar grabbed his arm before he could leave. He turned around and chuckled when he saw her pouting face. "What's the matter, my beautiful Solar?"
"You keep going away," She whined, tugging at his arm like a child. "Stop leaving me."
Druig gave her a soft look and leaned in to kiss her lips softly before connecting their hands together, tugging her up as he dragged her to the food table, glancing at Phastos' invention with slight interest.
"What is it?" Ajak asked confused as she stared at the image infront of her.
"It's an engine."
Meanwhile, Druig let go of Solar's hand as he poured the liquid into his cup, also filling one up for the girl beside him.
"It moves steam from high pressure to low pressure," Phastos explained, "Uh, it'll help them till their fields at an incredibly fast rate."
"It's gonna freak them out," Sprite spoke up, slightly bothered as she watched Druig feed his lover in an adorable way.
Druig wiped the side of Solar's mouth with his thumb before turning to the Phastos, "I mean, they only have had the wheel 1,000 years, so..."
Phastos pressed his lips together and nodded his head, not facing the male as he tried to keep his irritation at bay. "You know, we could do that thing where you use your mind to control them and then they could do it quicker," He said, making gestures with his hands as he finally turned to the two.
"Ajak, you listening to this?"
Solar shook her head at her lover and hit him at the back of his head, earning a groan from Druig. "Stop it, Dru!" She scolded him before walking over to Phastos and placing a supporting hand on his bicep. "Don't listen to him, Stos. Personally, I think your... engine is pretty cool."
Phastos smiled at her big after hearing her compliment. It wasn't common for Solar to act this friendly all the time but it sure felt amazing to the other Eternals whenever occasions like these happen.
"Thank you, Sol! See, she gets it!"
Solar only patted his arm twice before heading back to Druig, who kept his head down as she silently scolded him in the corner.
"Phastos, this steam..." Ajak waved her hand around as she tried to find the word.
"Engine," Phastos completed the sentence for her with a bored look. "It's a steam engine."
"It's too soon," Their leader finished. Right then, Sersi came running to the room, looking a bit out of breath. "And there she is."
Sersi stopped her sprint and glanced at the Eternals in the room, her eyebrows pinching together slightly as her eyes landed on Druig who was getting scolded by Solar.
"What did I miss?"
"Nothing. Just the screams of my deep disappointment."
"And my neverending scolding," Druig murmured under his breath but Solar heard him and began to pull at his ear, making profanities fly out of Druig's mouth. "I didn't mean it, darling! Please stop!"
Ajak briefly turned around to the couple, "Solar, enough." She didn't remove her eyes from them until Solar let go of Druig and she turned back to Phastos. "And Phastos, I am sure you have something simpler."
"Simple," He repeated. "Okay, let's see. Uh..."
Solar tried not to feel bad for her boyfriend but she just couldn't help it and immediately laid her hands on him, asking him if he was okay and asking if she hurt him too much.
Druig was confused by her sudden change of emotions and actions, but nonetheless, he just said that he was okay and smiled softly when she pressed a kiss to both of his cheeks.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you," Phastos' voice transferred the couple's attention to him as a tool formed in the air, "the plow. 'Cause that's what it does. Plows dirt," He finished with a slightly annoyed tone.
"I met another group of settlers who are building their homes in the northern fields," Sersi shared and Ajak extended her arm out to the girl, looking at Phastos. "They'll need to plant their own crops."
"Thanks, Sersi," Phastos responded, now standing with the couple at the food table.
"Listen, humanity may be coming along slower than some of us want. But there is no telling what wonders they will discover as they advance."

𝓐fter the meeting, Makkari managed to steal Solar away from Druig. The two girls were now walking in the village where the shops were - well, Solar was walking while Makkari sped around, stealing items.
"I don't see why you have the need to steal, Kari," Solar told her, not signing since Makkari could sense vibrations so she knew what she was saying.
"It's easier," She signed and Solar scoffed but the deaf girl only gave her friend a playful look.
The second strongest Eternal looked around, "Do you think I should get some things for Druig?"
Makkari nodded, "Definitely."
"But I have no money on me right now," Solar bit her lip, not missing the look Makkari gave her. She immediately shook her head, making Makkari's mischievous grin drop. "I'm not going to steal, Kari."
"But how are you going to pay for the item?"
Solar kneeled down and took a small rock from the rock, standing back up and closing her fist. And once she opened them again, the rock was no longer present, and instead, a dozen of coins were resting on her palm.
Makkari softly hit the side of her head, totally forgetting that the girl had the power to transform anything into whatever she wanted.
With that, Solar began to depart from Makkari and went in search of something she could buy for Druig.
After a couple of minutes, she finally found the perfect item and was quick to ask the seller how much it was. The girl paid for it with a successful smile on her face, excited to show Druig what she got for him.
Makkari appeared beside her and stared at the item in her hands, "That's pretty. Druig will love it, Solar!"
"You think so?" Solar looked at her speedster friend with a hopeful look.
"I know so."
Solar laughed at Makkari's response before holding her hand out. Makkari took it and in less than a second, the two of them arrived at the gathering that the people of Babylon had every night as the Eternals took turns entertaining the people.
It was Sprite's turn tonight and she sure did an amazing job at entertaining the children, and even the grown-ups, with her illusions and stories.
The crowd cheered loudly as she displayed fireworks.
"My beautiful Solar," Druig said as she and Makkari appeared right infront of his eyes. He was seated with a group of Babylonian men. "Sweet Makkari. You're both late."
"I needed to get enough artifacts to make a good trade," Makkari signed to him as she took a handful of artifacts that she stole earlier and placed them on the table infront of the men.
Solar approached her lover and Druig immediately opened his arms and wrapped them around her waist, pulling her close while still sitting.
"I've missed you," He whispered to her lovingly, leaning up to peck her lips.
She pulled away and stared down at him, "I was gone for a few hours, Dru."
"Exactly. Too long."
Solar blushed and looked down, using her hair to cover her flustered face. Druig however just took his finger and placed it under her chin, lifting her head up to look at him in the eye.
Before he could say anything, Solar reached into the small purse that she made and took out a small pouch, lifting it infront of Druig's face.
"I got you something."
Druig glanced at her face before looking back at the pouch, slowly lifting his hand up and taking it from her hands, opening it. "You didn't have to get me this, my beautiful Solar," He said as he took the ring and placed it on his palm, staring at the pure golden ring with an eye-shaped gem he's never seen before displayed in the front, sparkling brightly in the dark.
"Do you like it?" Solar asked him nervously, watching as he slid the ring on his ring finger with ease, impressed that the ring fit his finger perfectly.
He stood up and wrapped his arms around her small waist, leaning down to give her a long passionate kiss. He pulled away, grinning as Solar's face remained slightly shocked.
"I love it, my darling."
Solar's face broke into a smile at his words and she looked at him expectantly, "Do you really?"
"You know I do," He replied, his heart raising when the smile on her beautiful face only grew wider.
However, their moment was interrupted when the men gasped loudly as Makkari sped to them as fast as lightning and wrapped her hand around his wrist, stopping the man from getting away with lying to her.
Makkari began to sign while Druig translated what she said to the men in Babylonian.
"I can sense vibrations. Even the tiniest movement. Including your voices when you speak. Did you two just waste my time?"
"The Emerald Tablet you're searching for is a myth!" One of the men told her in his mother tongue but before Makkari could talk back, the sound of men brawling caught their attention.
Druig removed his hands off Solar and walked closer to the fighting scene, his eyes glowed and under his command, the men stopped punching eachother and stood up straight before slapping themselves twice and then they all cheered as they hugged the person they were just fighting a second ago.
Solar went beside him and nudged him in the shoulder but Druig only chuckled.
"Druig! Ajak said that when humans have conflicts, we aren't allowed to interfere."
"Well, she also says that conjuring up completely new gems is very, very bad for the humans," He retorted, turning his body to face her.
Solar gave him a challenging look but Druig only replied with the same expression.
She couldn't help but break into a small smile as she had a staring contest with her lover. Giving up, she let out a sigh and sent a playful glare to her boyfriend, who didn't back down as his eyes never left hers.
"I won't tell if you won't," She finally said and Druig nodded after a moment.
"Deal."
Solar tilted her head as she narrowed her eyes at him and Druig copied her actions, a grin beginning to form on his lips at the stubbornness of the woman that's been stealing his heart since he first saw her.
"It'll be our little secret."
