ACT ONE ━━━ CHAPTER FOUR,
❝ won't you let me kiss you,
my darling solar? ❞
━━━━ 3700 BC.
◤ ANCIENT GREECE.
𝓔ver since her talk with Ajak back in 4500 BC, Solar took consideration to what Ajak had told her and finally managed to open up to the others. And by others, I mean only Druig.
In the eight hundred years that Solar and Druig only opened up to only eachother and only ever stayed together, none of them ever confessed.
If you were to ask Solar why she didn't tell him about her feelings, she would say that she didn't have any romantic feelings for him when in reality, she was still afraid that he didn't like her back.
If you were to ask Druig why he didn't tell her about his feelings, he would say that there was no point in confessing since he knew that she didn't like him back when in reality, he had the same doubts as Solar.
As the other Eternals would describe it, they were both cowards.
It was so clear that they had romantic feelings for eachother, it was everyone but them who saw the way they were both totally blind to their love.
Solar entered the room and the nine Eternals who were already seated at the table immediately noticed her presence, smiling at her and greeting her good morning.
"Where's your boyfriend, Solar?" Kingo asked her from across the table, a small smirk resting on his lips.
The girl didn't reply and took a piece of bread and before Kingo knew it, a knife was headed his way. Fortunately for him, Ajak was fast enough and blocked Kingo's face by placing her hand infront of him, resulting in the knife stabbing her in her palm instead of Kingo's face.
Ajak painlessly ripped the silver knife out of her skin and her hand healed as if the weapon had never even pierced her skin. She gave a scolding look to both Kingo and Solar but didn't say anything.
Druig entered the room right then and this time, it was Gilgamesh who teased him. "Druig! There you are, man!"
Like Solar, he ignored Gilgamesh and took a seat beside the girl who didn't lift her head up and continued to eat her food. She only looked up when she felt his fingers playing with her hair and she sent a playful glare at Druig, who only chuckled at her and leaned in to kiss her cheek.
"Goodmorning, my beautiful Solar."
"Morning Druig," Her face graced a sweet smile as she stared at the boy with a bit of blush on her cheeks.
All of the Eternals watched the interaction with mixed expressions.
Kingo covered his mouth with his hand in utter shock and his eyes widened, along with Phastos. The two of them shared a knowing glance before going back to staring at the couple who ignored everyone else at the table.
"What the hell did I just witness?!" Kingo exclaimed loudly.
Thena gave the two a motherly smile, "I'm proud of you two."
"Oh my Celestials, are you finally a thing now?" Makkari signed with a happy expression as she stared at her two friends. "I've been waiting for this since forever!"
"That was adorable! I'm going to die- Ikaris, catch me before I fall," Sersi pretended to faint and Ikaris, who was seated beside her, caught her before she could hit the floor.
"Oh, it finally happened!" Ajak started to clap her hands excitedly like a proud and happy mother.
Phastos narrowed his eyes, not sure about his feelings. "I hate it but at the same time, I love it."
"Sprite, close your eyes."
"I'm not a child, Gilgamesh!"
Both Druig and Solar rolled their eyes at the same time at the reactions of their fellow Eternals. Solar shook her head in disappointment and facepalmed, hiding her face in embarrassment while Druig gave all of them a death glare.
"Is it true?" Ikaris asked seriously, looking opposite to the others who all had joyful expressions. "Are you a thing now?"
"No!" The two of them instantly denied, way too quickly to the Eternals' suspicion.
Druig and Solar glanced at eachother, both looking at eachother with a strangely weird look that only they could understand before Solar suddenly stood up and left the room. Not long after she left, Druig did as well.
The room with nine Eternals was quiet, not even a pin drop could be heard. The silence was loud.
"Soooo..." Kingo broke the unbearing silence. "Does anyone know where they're heading off to?"
"Nope. We never do," Sprite replied as everyone else went back to eating. "They always have a secret area that none of us know of."
Sersi chimed in, "Although, I did hear that it was a waterfall of some sorts this time. That's what I heard from Solar, she could be lying but... you know."
━━━━━━━━━
"𝓘 knew I would find you here."
"You always know where to find me, Druig," Solar said, brushing the wet hair from her face as she floated in the water.
Druig approached her and sat at the edge of the water as she began to swim towards him. The calm sound of the water from the waterfall flowing down filled their ears, making the beautiful area even better.
"Why don't you come swim with me?" She suggested, resting her arms on the rocky surface right beside Druig's legs and placing her chin atop the backside of her hands.
"What do I get from it?"
Solar pursed her lips and put on her thinking face before she smiled sweetly at him, her lips forming into a heart when she smiled. Another thing Druig loved about her was how her lips form into a heart whenever she smiled.
"You get to spend time with me. Unless you don't want to..."
Druig tsked and took off his slippers, jumping in the water as Solar backed away from the edge.
His head popped out of the water and he shook his head violently, the wetness in his hair splashing everywhere, making Solar place her arms infront of her to shield her from getting hit in the face.
She laughed as she felt someone tugging on her legs from under the water, dragging her over to his body. Druig pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her waist as Solar rested her hands on his shoulders, smiling brightly.
Never did she ever imagine that she would let out a smile as big as the one she has on right now, and it was all because of Druig.
Druig brings out the best out of her and she did the same for him, but their happiness was only ever a secret that only the two of them shared and didn't show to anyone else.
He connected his forehead against hers, they were so close that they could feel eachother's breaths against their lips.
"My beautiful, beautiful Solar," He whispered lovingly as he smiled softly, bringing one of his hands out and placing it on her cheek and Solar leaned into his touch. "What a precious girl you are."
The more he talked, the closer his lips got to hers. Solar closed her eyes and parted her lips slightly.
"Won't you let me kiss you, my darling Solar?"
There it was. The question she's been wanting to hear for centuries.
"You don't ever need to ask, Druig."
And in a heartbeat, Solar felt Druig's lips on hers, immediately forming butterflies in her stomach as she kissed him back, moving her hands that were on his shoulders to connect behind his neck, making it so that his head was trapped in between her arms.
The kiss was sweet, full of love and lust.
Druig pulled away first, letting out a long sigh as he brought her even closer. Solar's heart melted when she saw the big smile on Druig's face.
"I've been wanting to do that for centuries," He admitted before he leaned in to smash his lips on hers again and then pulled away, "and now I'm addicted."
Solar giggled and pecked his lips one last time, silently telling him that she's been wanting to do that for centuries as well.
The two of them stayed in eachother's arms for a few more moments before Solar unclasped her hands behind his neck and sunk her head in the water, escaping from his hold.
Druig turned around, trying to find her but he couldn't seem to spot her.
However, that didn't last long since he felt a splash at his side and he turned to what or who hit him, only to see a giggling Solar. "Oh, I'll make sure you won't be laughing in the end," He murmured under his breath before leaping over to where she was but Solar was quicker and she began to swim away from him with all her speed.
The two lovebirds were screaming and laughing while Druig kept on trying to catch her, Solar squealed as she felt a hand around her leg.
Druig pulled her legs, dragging her back to him. The smile on her face never left when he left a sweet kiss on her lips. Solar gladly kissed him back, placing her hands on his cheeks as they both spent a moment that was destined to happen since the beginning.
"I love you, Solar," He said, making her eyes widen. "I have loved you for the past millennium."
She stared at his face, seeing the love in his eyes as he looked at her.
"I love you too, Druig, so much that you can't even imagine."
He smiled and embraced her into another kiss.
The two of them spent their time together the whole day, going to the village after they dried up, buying eachother gifts, sharing plenty of kisses along the way.
Today was definitely the happiest day of Solar's life.
Little did she know that there would be plenty of moments like these coming in the future.
━━━━ 3550 BC.
◤ ANCIENT GREECE.
𝓘t took one hundred and fifty years for the Eternals to finally realize that Druig and Solar were an official couple.
Who knew that after a century and five decades the majority of them hadn't noticed how much closer and touchy the two have been.
Was it really Druig and Solar that were blind or was it them?
"I still can't believe that neither of you told us," Sersi said as she and the others stared at the couple who were sitting together, Druig's arm slung around her waist and Solar's back against his chest. "I mean, how long has this been going on?"
"Since the day I almost hit Kingo's face with a knife during breakfast," Solar answered, totally unbothered as she continued playing with the toy she conjured up from an apple.
Kingo's mouth dropped once he calculated the dates, "You've been secretly together for 150 years?!"
"150? No way. We surely would've caught onto it," Gilgamesh scoffed in disbelief and denial but Druig only nodded his head.
"You guys really didn't notice?" Makkari signed and Kingo asked her if she knew, to which she replied, "Of course, I knew. I'm their bestfriend, how could I not?"
Kingo placed his hand on his heart, pretending to be hurt that she knew but didn't rat them out.
"Besides, it was pretty obvious. I can't believe none of you saw it coming."
"This is why we kept it a secret," He told them, twirling a piece of Solar's hair in his hand. "And yes, it's been about 150 years since we've been together."
"I can't believe it," Ajak shook her head violently as she rushed up to the two and gave them a big hug. The couple was startled at first but quietly hugged her back. Ajak pulled away and stepped back, her eyes becoming glossy. "You finally did it. The both of you deserve eachother."
Soon after Ajak, the rest began to congratulate the two, and then the endless teasing continued.
None of them took notice when Ikaris quietly left the room.
━━━━━━━━━
𝓛ater that week, the Eternals began to worry since Ikaris hasn't left his room ever since Druig and Solar announced that they were together this whole time.
"I think you should check on him, Sersi," Thena told the thinker but Sersi only shook her head, a concerned expression on her face for the guy who's been pinning on her for centuries.
"I already did, he won't utter a word to me. I think something happened to him, maybe he just needs time to himself."
The rest of them agreed and did their own thing for the rest of the day.
Druig was out with Makkari so Solar had no one to hang out with. She suddenly got an idea and stood up, heading to Ikaris' room. Without knocking or anything, she busted the door open and immediately noticed Ikaris sitting on the edge of his bed, looking out the window without moving. He didn't even react when his door swung open.
"Ikaris!" Solar sang and he finally turned his head, a shocked expression on his face when he saw that she was the one who came to check up on him.
He thought it was Sersi coming to check up on him for the hundredth time but it truly was a surprise to come face to face with Solar.
"Solar. What are you doing here?"
She sat beside him on the bed and nudged him with her shoulder playfully, "What do you mean? I came to check up on you, silly. Also, mind telling me what's gotten you in a mood lately?"
Ikaris sighed and faced the window again but Solar didn't give up.
"I'm your bestfriend, Ikaris! Tell me what's wrong."
Yeah, bestfriend. And that's all he'll ever be...
"Nothing's wrong, Solar," He finally answered but his tone wasn't convincing at all. "I just have some problems."
"Problems?" She raised her eyebrows, "What kind of problems?"
"Noth-"
"Oh!" She cut him off and snapped her fingers before she pointed at him with a smirk, "You have trouble in paradise."
"W-What?" He snapped his head to her, only to see her wiggling her eyebrows at him with a knowing smirk.
"You like Sersi and you don't know how to tell her!"
Ikaris seemed taken aback by her words and Solar caught onto it quickly. "I knew it!"
"H-How did you find out?" He stuttered.
If this is the only way to make you believe that I like someone else then I'll pretend as long as I can knowing I will never get what I want.
Solar tilted her head, "How did I find out? I could tell from your expression that you have a little crush on someone and I know you've been pinning on Sersi for like the last thousand years. Tell you what, I'll help you get her."
"You will?" He asked, surprised. This isn't how it's supposed to go.
"Of course! What kind of friend would I be if I wouldn't help you?" She rolled her eyes playfully and nudged him again but Ikaris only scratched the back of his neck nervously.
Friend. He hated that word.
