The Brains for my Heart [M Crush x F Reader]

You were the smartest girl in your class. You usually ace your tests. Geography, English, Science and any subjects you mention. You were last year's class valedictorian. And running for That's why mostly every boys in your school had admitted to liking you.

A few of them even decided to drop in love letters but you've decided just kindly to reject them and reply. Your heart was actually focused on another.

You were walking down the halls and saw your crush. C/N. He too was one the smartest people in his class. Every girl had liked him but in most cases, he never had taken interest in any of them. You were relieved but simply never showed it.

C/N saw you and waved at each other happily. Some of his admirers, however, looked at you in disgust. As you passed by, you could see their questioning gazes, eyebrows raised and a scoff leaving their lips before they started to gossip. You were so used to their reactions that you just ignored them and simply walked beside C/N.

Why is C/N talking to her? She's just a nerd.

She's not pretty like us. How could C/N notice her?

The words you heard from them were almost like a broken record but you didn't mind as you saw C/N approaching before he finally dragged you outside. There weren't much people at the grounds so both of you decided to sit down underneath the tree.

As he lay the bag on the grass, he turned to look at you. A frown was plastered on his face. You couldn't hear his thoughts but you already knew what he was going to say.

"Don't listen to them."

You sighed, nodding. "This happens every day. I'm used to it by now."

"Well, I think you're pretty. In every way possible. Pretty nice, pretty smart, pretty talented. Don't let those people let you think otherwise," he replied back before walking in front of you.

You couldn't help but snort at this. "You're overly exaggerating it."

"I'm not. It's true." He then turns around. "At this point, you might replace the stars by just how much your beauty outshone everyone else."

You paused for a while and stopped walking. Your eyes pierced his before you decided to speak up. "...Was that your attempt at flirting?"

"Is it working?" He raised his eyebrow. He grinned at how you couldn't seem to form words at this point. Not that you were speechless but actually you were just internally laughing by how he did it.

You chuckled. "No. No, not really. I almost didn't caught it."

He then hums before pretending to cover his head with his hat. "Oh damn, is the sun getting any degrees hotter or was that you?"

"Global warming," you commented before hitting his shoulder and rolling your eyes. "Come on, we'll be late for the next class."

He rolled his eyes. "You're turning my attempts down."

"Be better." You laughed at how he looked at you with an unamused look before finally walking up beside you. He pulled out his books as you decided to work on your homework.

He had a scheduled test tomorrow so you figured that it would be best not to disturb him. As you were halfway into solving, you felt a nudge on your arm. You instantly gave him a look that said 'We hadn't even lasted five minutes' as you already knew what he wanted.

"It's only been five minutes, C/N." you reminded him, pointing at your watch. "You're not going to ace that test if you stop now and I won't be able to finish this along with the other homework due for tomorrow."

"But I'm hungry." And there it was. The words he always say when he wanted to go get coffee, snacks, well anything really. An excuse.

The pleading face he had made you sigh as you knew you weren't able to say no. He's persistent, to say the least. Even if you had told him otherwise, he'd make a counter offer. And he'll convince you since despite him being your friend, he's your crush.

"Fine, what do you have in mind?" you asked him, seeing his ecstatic grin as he stood up to dust his pants and quickly helped you up. As you were about to take your bag, he took it from your hands and carried it instead. You tried getting it back but you knew this was part of his plan so you couldn't back out the last moment.

"Well, I was thinking of getting a burger downtown. Milkshake? Or coffee, depends on what you want, really." He hummed as he then thinks. "How about F/R? That's our usual go-to place."

You thought about it for a while. You wanted to try out a new cafe downtown but you're also quite happy that he offered to get food from your favorite restaurant.

Of course, you said yes.

As soon as both of you had finally reached the restaurant, he simply gave you a piece of paper. At first, you thought he was simply passing you a simple note with some random message on it but he asked you to keep it until after you both ordered. You then pocketed the paper, thinking nothing of it at first.

The day went the usual, you both had ordered your favorites on the menu, talked and even humored yourselves, chatting about school. When your meals had already finished and you had set your utensil down, you took the paper again only to see a question.

"Did you enjoy the food?" You eyed him suspiciously. "You wrote this only to ask me this? You know this is one of my favorite meals, C/N."

"I was just making sure that I won't pick the wrong meal for our date next time. That is if you say yes," he hummed as you slightly widened your eyes.

"What...?" you mumbled to yourself as he gave you a smirk.

"Look, all the good pick up lines are taken but you aren't." You chuckled at that part and shake your head.

"I can't believe you," you smiled as he slightly grinned.

"Well, what do you say? Do you want to go on a date with me?" he asked.

You folded the piece of paper and nod. "Make sure not to get my order wrong."
