Comfort [GN Reader x GN Crush]
Genre: Hurt/Comfort
————
You were sitting on the front yard, tears cascading down your cheeks. Your hands had already tried covering the sobs that came out to avoid unwanted attention.
But as time passes by, you just didn’t have it in yourself to hide them. You sniffled and wiped at the wetness on your face with the sleeve of your jacket and just decided to hug your knees close to you.
It was getting chilly out, even if spring hadn’t officially started yet. The sun was setting, but you couldn’t bring yourself to care about that right now.
You would've loved the weather but your boyfriend, well ex, decided to ruin your day.
They had cheated on you.
They had always made sure to act so distant around you. Yet blinded by love, you thought they were just busy, tired from the long day.
You keep giving them the attention they never even gave you.
You never got the hint that they were tired of you.
How did you ignore the fact that they kept giving such loving stares to other people? They never looked at you that way before.
No, all you got in the relationship soon after were glares and annoyed sighs.
Those stares they gave to others, you shrugged it off in the past, thinking that it was because they were just admiring their fashion sense, their beauty, their astonishing mind.
Yes, something you never had. You're worthless. You couldn't help but think to yourself.
C/N saw you when they were walking down the lane. Apparently, they were just passing by the neighborhood and had finished buying stuff from the convenience store.
They looked at you with worried eyes as you wipe the remaining tears before you stood back up and went back inside.
Since your house was next to his, plus you're their neighbor, they couldn't help but feel worried about you. So, they tried calling out your name in hopes to get your attention.
To no avail, though. Their heart dropped when the only response they got was the door finally locking.
C/N couldn't help but approach the house and knocked on the front door. It didn't take a while, they could finally hear you sobbing.
They knocked again, but you didn't answer. Instead, they heard shuffling footsteps coming from behind your door. It sounded like you had ran away.
"Y/N, talk to me. I saw you crying earlier," they softly spoke before knocking once more.
C/N knew it wouldn't be a great idea for you to bottle up your feelings like this. It wasn't healthy. It was better if you had someone while you're hurting.
Those were the words that made you feel cared for but you still decided to be stubborn, sniffing before answering with a forced smile. "Don't worry, I'm fine. Just a bad day, that's all."
Even if you knew they wouldn't see your forced smile, it helps to mask out the pain in your voice. Or that's what they all say anyway.
They frowned at this. "You know, with what I saw earlier, I could tell that you're lying. You don't have to pretend everything is alright, you know?"
Those were the words that had struck you. I guess you knew better than to hide it away from them. They just saw you earlier, what were you thinking?
You looked away from the door and shook your head. "Something's just bothering me but I'm alright, C/N. Like I told you, bad day."
If your words were anything to go by, it was clear that you really needed alone time. But C/N couldn't feel but do something.
So, they decided to sit on the porch and take out a small paper from their bag. They decided to write on it and slid it inside.
"I can tell that you don't want to tell me and that's alright. But call me if you need someone to open up with. I'm here.
Also, do you want something to eat? I'll come later after I run to the store. Just list it down and I'll gladly buy it."
You stared at their words for awhile. A part of you felt guilty, but another part felt like an idiot.
How dare they think so much of you? You're just making it hard for them.
This time, you couldn't help but look at the paper and picked it up before contemplating.
Even if you hated yourself for it, you couldn't help but feel like you atleast needed to tell somebody about it.
So, you took a deep breath and then opened the door slowly.
C/N's eyes snapped up at you and they immediately brightened when they noticed your face.
Their shoulders relaxed and a soft grin formed on their lips when they realized you came back.
"Hi," they said. You gave them a small smile before letting them in.
Their gaze never left you before snapping their fingers. "Oh right, you never really told me what food you'd like me to get you."
"You don't have to, actually—" you tried telling them no but they only grinned.
"I want to. It's on me. Please. Just rest for the day," they answered.
Before you could protest anymore, they closed the door behind them and walked towards the living room.
They set the paper on the coffee table where they sat before going back to the kitchen.
You sighed. As you followed them, they then leaned on the kitchen counter and faced you. "Do you prefer takeouts or a home cooked meal?"
You shrugged in uncertainty. They noticed this and only smiled. "I'm guessing both?"
"But, takeouts are for later when we have a movie marathon. Maybe some popcorn, chips, Mcdonald's? Nuggets? I can list them all day," they continued.
"I mean, I guess," you responded before walking next to them and decided to help them out.
"You sure you don't mind me cooking?"
"If I did, I wouldn't have let you in the house."
They laughed. "I'm guessing I'm doing a great job, seeing your sarcastic remarks again."
After taking a moment to ponder their own statement, you pat them on the shoulders. "But seriously though, I am pretty thankful for you being here. Thank you."
They didn't say anything, but they nodded. Before you could think twice about it, C/N wrapped their arms around you in a hug.
"Just lean on me when things are difficult, alright? Don't hesitate. I'll be here to comfort you always."
Their soft tone calmed your anxiety a lot. It eased your thoughts too. Even when they pulled away from your embrace, they continued to hold your hands with reassuring smiles.
Your heart melted slightly. "Of course, C/N," you whispered, not wanting to make any kind of noise that would interrupt the silence between the two of you.
"Now," they said before taking out the pans, "let's start cooking! Surely you miss my cooking?"
You laughed a bit as they winked at you.
