Chances [GN Reader x F Crush]

Hello! So, this is a request from @ThetaThorn_IzzaThorn! This part will be revised along with the other parts of the book. Do let me know your thoughts on this! Have a great day ahead!

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Another day at school.

But this time, you couldn't help but feel like you wanted to go back home. This time it was different. And it didn't help that these past few days, you fell ill.

Though, unfortunately, you couldn't help but be stubborn and go to school despite having a fever since you felt that it would be better not to miss notes.

Shrugging the feeling off, you continued your way. You figured one day wouldn't hurt. That is until you stopped as you saw familiar figures standing near the gate.

Odd, it was your friends. You couldn't help but be confused and shocked at the same time, considering that all of you would usually meet in the classroom. Shauna was the first one to notice you before waving her hand to call you. Tierno and Trevor did the same after seeing you walking toward them as well.

"Didn't think you guys would be here." You tried to fake a smile but all that came out was an awkward look and stance. You felt weak, legs almost wobbling too. They didn't seem to notice at first, which was a good thing. Though, you were sure it wouldn't last.

"We figured it would be best if we wait for you here instead. Plus, it got boring up there," Trevor mentioned in the classroom before shrugging.

You just decided to play it cool and nodded. They didn't notice you almost struggling, which was a relief for you.

As you all decided to go to the classroom once the bell rang, that's when they saw you walking weirdly, as if you were trying your hardest to maintain your balance. They spoke nothing of it until they can confirm it.

Shauna was the one who was able to see how you just let yourself fall into your seat, making a loud noise, and then pretended as if nothing happened. With exchanged glances, you didn't know that the trio had already been staring and talking about you.

It didn't take long, class had started. You were oblivious to the lingering gazes of your friends as you tried your best to stay awake during the lecture. The class was interesting, but you just couldn't help but feel hot.

The way the pen clicked in your hands, your shoes tapping in a rhythm, and how you kept staring at the clock — waiting for class to finish just how fast it started. Trevor noticed your head almost hitting the desk too, though you recovered quickly as you looked around to see if someone had noticed.

C/N did, unfortunately. Along with your friends that had their eyes on you right from the very start of the lecture. All of them were worried and their guesses were right once you rushed out after class after the bell had rung.

You tried to maintain your balance on one of the lockers before taking a deep breath. One of your hands was on your knee, the other was on the locker itself.

Shauna was the one who decided to confront you first while you stayed hunched over as she asked what had been bothering you.

Tierno and Trevor seemed more concerned about how pale you are while you answered your questions, saying that you probably just had a bad sleeping routine.

Shauna was unconvinced but let it slide.

Suddenly, you heard someone calling your name.

"Y/N, are you alright?" C/N came up to you as she looked at you worriedly. "I saw you running out as soon as the lecture had finished."

You shook your head quickly and forced a smile at her, hoping she wouldn't be too concerned. "Just didn't get much sleep last night. I got a bit nauseous. I'm fine now though, really."

C/N wasn't convinced by your reply but didn't press any further. Instead, she decided to just nod and excuse herself but not after telling you to take it easy. Of course, you nodded and waved at her as she finally walked away for her next class.

Shauna noticed that look on your face. Despite being sick, your cheeks still flushed red before you looked away from C/N. So, she took the opportunity to ask. "Are you sure you're alright? Your cheeks seem pretty red right now. Are you blushing?"

"No," you lied. "Maybe it's just hot in here."

"You do know that you aren't good at lying, right?" Shauna added before crossing her arms. "I let you slide on the first time you told me you're alright. I ain't taking another lie this time."

Tierno and Trevor agreed with her on this one. You couldn't help but sigh at this point. Well, there was no use in lying again and again.

Suddenly, she was surprised when you suddenly grabbed her wrist and dragged her away, leaving everyone else behind.  Tierno and Trevor ran ahead to catch up, wondering where could you possibly be leading Shauna.

Once all of you had gone to the rooftop, you couldn't help but hide your face in your hands and admit that you did like C/N. The feelings that you harbor for her had already been there for a while. The three of your friends looked at each other before Shauna started screaming in joy.

"Well, that's great news! You should at least let her know, maybe confess before the year ends."

You shook your head at the idea. "No, no that's not going to be possible. I can't."

"Plus, it would probably ruin what we already have now. I can't risk that," you added.

Shauna frowned at you in disagreement, but the two seemed content with staying silent for now. Although the thought of confessing had crossed your mind, you couldn't. There are a lot of possibilities and you didn't want to know which one would happen.

You also didn't want to tell anyone else for fear it'll put more pressure on C/N than it needed to be. And even if they wouldn't say anything, you're sure you won't be able to live through it if word gets out.

For now, you just need to keep things under wrap until graduation.

Shauna then notices your doubtful look, "Y/N, you do realize that C/N likes you too. We see how close you two are. Even Trevor and Tierno would agree. You guys spend a lot of time together already out of school."

"You don't know that. She might see me only as a friend. I might mess up my confession too considering how nervous I am around her. It will just be a mess."

"And yet no one knows how it will turn out! Who knows? She might accept!" Shauna kept insisting you confess. Trevor and Tierno stayed silent, knowing fully well that Shauna wouldn't let this go.

"No, Shauna, I'm not doing this right now," you denied, not wanting to escalate the situation even further. Even your headache was getting worse. As soon as you tried walking away, Shauna scoffed.

"I guess you're a coward then."

"Then call me a coward for loving them too much to be scared of losing them because of my exposed feelings." At this point, you couldn't care less. You weren't going to lose that friendship you already have with C/N.

What you didn't expect her to do though is for her to slap you.

"Y/N, wake up. Can't you see that this is already your chance? I can't just see you standing here while you let this opportunity slip away," she yelled at you as you put your hand on your temple to massage it before shaking your head in disagreement.

"No, Shauna. I can't, I already told you. And even if my feelings remained hidden and she falls in love with somebody else, I would be happy for her. She deserves the best, and that's all that matters to me."

"I won't let my friendship with her get ruined because of this," you ended.

She sighed deeply in frustration as she stood in front of you with her head hung low, her hands on her waist. You knew how persistent she could be and you forgive her for slapping you earlier. It wasn't that hard but it certainly shocked you.

You were considering leaving already since you could feel as if you were about to faint. But by the time you face the door, it suddenly opened and there stood C/N with a surprised look on her face. Your eyes widened as you noticed how close she was to it. Couldn't it be? No, it's impossible.

Trevor and Tierno had awestruck looks on their face before one of them decided to break the silence. "D-Did you hear everything—"

Your fears had been confirmed when C/N suddenly turned to you and nodded.

Embarrassed, you couldn't help but become teary-eyed and it became harder to breathe every second. As soon as you saw C/N trying to approach you, you decided to run past her and down the stairs. There were footsteps behind you and you figured it was your friends along with your crush.

Managing to finally get outside, you didn't even care about the rain harshly pouring down you stumbled your way through the yard. All that mattered to you now was to get outside before your knees gave up.

And it did.

You couldn't help but realize that everything was ruined. The chances of having C/N be close to you were nothing but a mere memory. It was too good to be true; too perfect. And you were so stupid to think it could last like that.

Yet, you didn't expect C/N to be calling out your name. That voice.

You turned to face her but then almost fell when she collided with you as her arms engulfed you in a hug.

"Are you alright?" she asked first as she saw the flushed look on your face. You didn't reply. You couldn't focus that much except notice how hot it was despite the cold rain dripping on your skin.

When you felt yourself getting dizzy from the sudden change in altitude, you pulled away from C/N's hug — who immediately let you go in fear. She helped you back onto your feet as she waited anxiously for an answer to her question.

"Y/N..." she cupped your face slowly with her hands, "Is there something wrong?"

After a few seconds, you saw your friends following after — stopping in a distance to give you both some space. However, you didn't get to answer C/N as you felt yourself falling into her arms, her cries suddenly fading into the background as you were taken into the comfort of darkness.

When you woke up, you found yourself in a hospital room. At your side, you saw C/N holding your hands as she slept on a chair next to you. How long were you even out? Your friends were also there — all on a sofa and sleeping soundly.

You tried to move a bit but then the door opened, and Shauna came in with a cup of coffee in her hands. When she saw you staring at her, she couldn't help but give you a frown and quickly go to your side.

"Look, I'm sorry for what happened back on the rooftop," she told you before putting down the coffee on the table.

You only smiled at this and waved, "I already forgive you for that."

Shauna sighed. "I overreacted. I...I just want you and C/N to be together. But with nothing happening, I guess I got impatient."

"I could tell," you joked before noticing C/N and your friends waking up from the talk. Shauna threw a knowing look at the two and all of them decided to leave you and your crush alone. C/N thanked them before staying silent for a few minutes.

When you knew it would take a while, you decided to start it off by asking how long you had been there. C/N shortly answered, "Two days."

After the pause, she then continued. "Look, I'm sorry for listening in. I forgot to pick up my sketchbook on the rooftop and accidentally heard you and Shauna arguing."

You sighed. "It's alright."

She looked away, her cheeks flushed red. "And actually, I don't think that it would ruin our friendship..."

You raised an eyebrow at this before shaking your head. No, it's impossible. Maybe she just feels bad and wanted to comfort you right now. C/N saw this gesture and smiled.

"I've had feelings for you for months now. I was just too shy to admit it." And that's when you suddenly went silent.

What did she say?

You blinked in confusion before you repeated what she said. "Y-You like me?"

She nodded. "It was a few months already when I realized it. I can't help but spend more time with you. I feel happy with you around."

You couldn't help but smile and caressed her hands slowly. "Well, in that case, I'm glad."

After a few seconds, she then sighed. "I was actually worried about you when you fainted in my arms. Did you know how much you scared me cause of that?"

"I better fix that then. How about a date after this? Well, as soon as I get discharged."

"I'll take note of that."

She finally went to give you a quick kiss on the cheeks as both of you pressed your foreheads together.

Despite the inconvenience you had earlier, you realized that it moment was all it took for both of you to finally open up to each other. And you were thankful for it.
