Chapter Six

What was she to do, but to trek on?
-------

Jason watched as the Queen climbed up the tree, quickly disappearing into the leaves. She was going to check around them for a place to walk to.

He sighed, and sat down at the base, looking at his hands. They were still rough and calloused, and all that did was remind him of his town.

The screams....he shook his head, trying to force the lump in his throat away.

But now, Jason could see it- the fire, the screams, the burnt and alive bodies of adults, children, infants-

He let out a choked sob.

His parents- they were lucky.

Stab through the head from behind.

Why hadn't he stayed? This weighed on his mind; a lead weight.

Normally, he would've stayed, fought against the Dark Men and not stop until they left or he dies.

Instead, he ran, following the Queen.

He helped her out the rarely used back entrance.

Into the forest.

Turning back and watching the smoke burn.

Why did he leave? Did he feel obligated to help the Queen?

Or was it something more?

Did the Lords Above decide it was his destiny to help the Queen?

He sighed, and closed his eyes.

None of these questions will truly be answered.

"There's land the the south-west of us- Jason, are you alright?" The Queen jumped down, noticing the tears that trailed down his cheeks.

"....I miss my family...." he whispered, and the Queen nodded. Without much fanfare, she hugged him, giving comfort.

He clung onto her, all of his tears and pain and sadness being let out.

{{Bye Y'all and bye my garbage children!~}}
