Wolfsbane is an actual plant if you didn't know, there are different species and most of them are poisonous

He cried out in pain as two pack members lifted him up and carried him towards the pack hospital. Blood and sweat trickled onto the ground from his scars as we walked through the hospital. A nurse ran up to us and guided us to a hospital room to place Xavier.

"Place the Alpha on his stomach in this room." She instructed.

They carefully placed him on the bed laying on his stomach. He grunted in pain as tears streamed down his face. I bent down to capture his tears in a kiss. His muscles relaxed a little but we're still tense from the pain in his back.

"I'm sorry but everyone must exit this room while we help." The nurse began pushing us out the room as other nurses and doctors rushed in.

"Wait wait, she has to stay, she is his mate." Chris argued.

The nurse pushed me back into the room and closed the door on everyone else. I sat down in a chair opposite of Xavier and tried to stay calm but I couldn't.

"Nurse you need to clean the wounds before they become infected." The doctor said as he began putting on latex gloves.

The nurse grabbed a bottle of what seemed like alcohol or peroxide and began pouring it onto his back. The moment it touched his scars, Xavier yelled out in pain as he began squirming in the bed. The other nurses came to hold him down as the other tried to clean up his back.

She quickly went to grab gauze as she began placing it onto his back and applying pressure on different parts.

Xavier yelled out again but this time he yelled for me. I needed to touch him, to comfort him, to be there for him. I immediately got up and began walking towards him but the nurse stopped me.

"I know the mate bond is pulling you to comfort him but you have to remain in your seat until we are done." She demanded.

I quietly sat back in my seat as I began tapping my foot on the floor, anxious.

"Dr. Welshman his mouth is bleeding." I heard a nurse say.

I shot up and noticed blood dripping onto the floor from his mouth.

"Well what happened?" The doctor barked.

"He bit down onto his tongue from the pain." She said as she began caring to the gash on the right side of his face.

My heart felt as though it was going to pound right out of my chest. My wolf was howling in my mind, trying to get a response from her mate but we heard none.

He looked in pain, he looked vulnerable and it was just too much to bare.

"Madam we need you to come over here and talk to your mate, he's slipping." The nurse ordered.

The moment she said slipping I shot up and ran straight towards Xavier. I knelt down on my knees and grabbed his hair as I raked my fingers through his hair.

"Xavier, baby please listen to me, you're going to be fine just stay with me, I know it hurts and you want to sleep but don't go to sleep yet just not yet." I said as tears spilled down my face. I told myself I wasn't going to cry but I can't hold it in.

He looked up at me with droopy eyes and a bloody mouth.

"I'd rather be in this position right now than to have watched you on that stage getting lashed, watching the pain in your eyes as the whip marked your skin. It would be unbearable." He said slowly and quietly.

"You didn't deserve that." I whispered.

"I would do anything for you, anything to prove that I love you more than life itself." He said.

I shook my head. "Stop trying to prove to me, this was more than enough, Xavier I forgive you and I believe you. You don't have to hurt yourself anymore or put your life at risk to prove your love. Just please stay with me." I begged.

He smiled showing his bloody teeth.

"I'll be fine don't worry." He said.

"Madam we are going to have to ask you to step out the room while we continue." The nurse said sympathetically.

I nodded my head and placed a kiss on Xavier's forehead before I stepped out the room. I walked out into the waiting room and noticed Chris, Alpha Roman, Luna, Raven, Rosalina and Stacy.

All heads turned to me when I walked out of the room.

"Why the hell were you in that room with him?" Stacy screamed as she stood up.

"Cause he is my mate." I spat at her.

Everyone seemed shocked at my attitude because in all my years I never gave anyone attitude until now. I was tired, tired of being scared and timid. I didn't want people walking over me and trying to ruin Xavier and I's relationship.

"Who the hell are you-"

"Shut Stacy just shut up! You know he doesn't even like you and you're using him for the power! You go off fucking other dudes and then you go back to Xavier to get good with him so maybe he can mate with you and you officially be Luna, well that shit isn't going to happen because that mark belongs to me not you!" I screamed out.

My eyes widened at my statement. Yes I was mad but there was no need for cursing to fly out of my mouth.

Everyone looked at me in shock except Rosalina who was smiling at me.

"Is he going to be fine?" His mother asked.

Xavier was strong and had so much to live for, even if the the whip was laced with wolfsbane, he's still going to make it.

I nodded my head. "He's going to live."

I walked over to Raven and grabbed Rosalina out of her hands.

"I couldn't go down to watch, I just couldn't." Raven cringed.

I looked at her face and noticed that the wolf scars were fading.

"How are your injuries feeling?" I asked her.

She shrugged. "They're getting better."

Almost an hour has passed and no one has came out of the room yet. We all sat there waiting patiently and anxiously, hoping for some good news.

Finally the nurses and doctors and came and turned to us.

"The Alpha request to see his mate and his Luna." The doctor.

Stacy rose up from her seat and shot a glare my way. As we both entered the room I noticed there was no more blood on the floor, Xavier was laying on his stomach with his torso heavily bandaged.

"Oh baby! The minute I heard what happened I raced down here! I was so scared, you didn't deserve those lashes." She said as she flung herself onto his back which made him flinch and growl loudly.

"Get off me!!!" He growled.

She hopped off him looking embarrassed.

He slowly sat up off the bed and looked me in my eyes.

"Stacy you smell like him." Xavier growled.

"Smell like who?"

"Whoever you've been fucking these past few months and it disgusts me." He spat.

"Xavier I don't-"

"You don't deserve to bare my mark." He growled.

Stacy looked as though she was going to cry. She turned on her heels and ran out the hospital room.

"How are you feeling?" I asked quietly.

He turned to me with a tired expression.

"I'm extremely tired and I'm in pain, the doctor gave me a heavy dosage of pain medicine but it still isn't enough." He sighed.

"I'm just glad you're not dead." I smiled as I walked toward him.

"Can't get rid of me that easily." He smirked as he leaned forward. His eyes darted down to my lips. As we leaned closer into each other that's when Rosalina decided to scream.

I jumped back and immediately began rocking her in my arms.

"You know she looks like her mother. Just as beautiful as her too." I heard Xavier say.

I blushed at Xavier calling me beautiful. It's been a while since someone actually complimented me.

"Anaïs I would still like to take you out on a date."

I looked up at him and noticed love clear in his eyes.

"Sure Xavier that sounds lovely." I smiled.

His face broke out into a bright smile for a moment until he showed a pained expression on his face. He clutched his head in agony as he fell back on his back which caused him more pain.

"Xavier what's wrong!?" I asked as I approached his squirming figure.

"There is a burning sensation spreading throughout my body, it's like someone setting me on fire!" He gasped.

Nurses rushed in as they flipped Xavier onto his stomach and tried to calm him.

I quickly exited the room to find everyone moving around anxiously.

"What's wrong with Xavier?" Alpha Roman asked.

"I don't know, he was fine one moment and then the next he was clutching his head and neck in pain and said it felt like someone was lighting him on fire."I said.

"Why did that girl run out here crying?" Raven asked.

"Xavier basically rejected her." I said quietly.

Raven made a grunting noise and shook her head.

"Xavier will be fine he's just going through some excruciating pain. I can't say the same for that Stacy girl, she's trying to burn the mark off so she might die." Raven said.

Alpha Roman, Luna May and I raced out of the hospital leaving Raven and Chris alone.

Luna May and I followed Alpha Roman up into the pack house and burst into Xavier's room to see Stacy clutching a silver dagger that looked as though the blade has been heated. Her eyes were red and puffy and the hand she was holding with dagger with was shaking and turning purple and black.

"I overheard a little of your conversation that day in the hospital. You said something about heating silver will take the mark away." She said as she held the dagger close to her neck.

I held Rosalina to my chest so she wouldn't see what was happening right now. I didn't want her to experience these horrible things.

"Stacy love you don't have to do this." Luna May said.

"I was never meant to be Luna, I'm not the one he wants, he wants this smut." She cried out as she pointed to me.

"That doesn't mean you need to kill yourself." Alpha Roman growled.

"It's worth a shot." She smiled deranged as she stuck the knife into her neck trying to cut around the mark.

She screamed out in pain but continued doing so.

Alpha Roman grabbed for her but as she backed away from him she tripped and cut farther than she needed to as she fell to the ground bleeding.

Luna May screamed at the sight of Stacy's dead body. I could do nothing but stand there in shock at the sight of my cousin.

Yes she treated me horribly but no one truly deserved to die.
