[001] a genius plan
[001] a genius plan
Aisling Moon had tried to warn her little sister of the dangers that came with dating a boy like Sirius Black.
After all, they walked around campus with a warning sign. Charming boys were always the worse, leading you on with sweet nothings and keeping you wrapped around your finger for as long as possible until they were done with you. And then when they sucked out all of the light and love out of you, they threw you into the garbage like it was nothing and moved on to the next girl.
Elaine was his latest victim.
Elaine Moon was the epitome of walking sunshine, which made sense since she fit right into Hufflepuff. She was a dreamer, often caught with her head in the clouds, and a firm believer in true love. Aisling could never understand it but Elaine... she was convinced that it'd happen to her one day. That she'd be as happy and in love as their parents were. While Aisling did believe that love existed, it was the furthest thing from her mind. Aisling was more focused on getting through her final school year without failing any of her classes - a task much easier said than done.
Regardless, like all the other girls that had dated Sirius in the past, Elaine thought that she could be the special one that managed to make him fall for her. Spoiler alert: the exact opposite happened.
For nearly two months, Sirius Black was all Elaine could talk about. Her entire world consisted of the gray eyed Black rebel who only had to wink to get what he wanted. Elaine was already convinced that the two of them would fall in love and have their happily ever after no matter what. So it'd come as a devastating shock to Elaine when Sirius dumped her just days before.
Aisling, in true older sister fashion, was there to hold onto Elaine when she inevitably crumbled. Elaine cried for days, avoiding Sirius and her classwork entirely. She'd get the greenlight from Nurse Pomfrey, pretending to be sick (in a lot of ways, heartbreak was a true sickness) just so she wouldn't be able to go to her classes. She couldn't bear the thought of having to see Sirius after how he had shattered her heart with no remorse.
Aisling resisted the urge to tell Elaine her classic I told you so. She resisted the urge to berate Elaine for ignoring her warnings and blindly falling for a player. Instead, Aisling decided to go on and comfort Elaine as best she could. But little did she know, Aisling was fuming on the inside.
She was mad at Sirius for going after her sister and breaking her heart. She was mad at Sirius for doing this to countless girls and getting away with it for years. She was mad at Sirius for feeling no shame or guilt or least of all, heartbreak after everything he had done.
And so, after day five of comforting Elaine inside of her dorm room and drying her tears after, Aisling had come up with her most genius idea yet.
"I'm going to give that bastard a taste of his own medicine," Aisling declared, frustration laced in her tone.
"What?" Elaine sits up in her bed, her eyes red and puffy from all of her crying. Even with her messy hair and polka dot pyjamas on, she still looked like an angel.
Aisling, on the other hand, resembled a psychopath in the making. She had a wild look in her eyes and a grin on her lips, looking more like a mad scientist than anything else. But really, Aisling was just a vengeful teenage girl itching for revenge. Aisling loved Elaine and she'd do anything to make her sister feel better - even if it meant completely ruining the one boy that had broken her heart.
"I'm going to break Sirius' heart the same way that he broke yours. No, scratch that. I'm going to make him feel even worse. That's what he deserves," Aisling continued. "I mean, look at what he's done to you. You used to be so happy and bubbly, always going out and having fun. Now you're just hiding away from Sirius all day like you're the one who's done something wrong and not him. I'm tired of seeing you like this. And you should be tired of feeling this way too. Why let him get away with this when we can get him back once and for all?"
Elaine falters, Aisling's words cutting deep. She wasn't happy being this way either. Elaine desperately wanted nothing more than to go back to her old self and be the happy-go-lucky girl she was before she ever met Sirius Black. But to go this far, Elaine wasn't sure she could agree with it.
"Aisling...," Elaine trails off, frowning. It was obvious that she didn't really agree with the idea. But Aisling was convinced that it was good. And once her mind was hooked on something, it was pretty hard for her to let go.
With or without Elaine's approval, Aisling was going to find a way to get back at Sirius.
"And before you even think about trying to change my mind, just think about the good it'll do. If I stop him now, that'll save the next girl from being heartbroken next. Can't you see that I'm just doing you and all the other girls he's ruined a huge favor?" Aisling continued on.
Elaine sighs, brushing some of her hair out of her face. "I.... Aisling, I'm sorry that I didn't listen to you before. I feel like such a bloody idiot."
"You're not an idiot, Elaine. You're just... highly optimistic," Aisling replied, earning a dry scoff from Elaine. "And sometimes, that can cause you to get hurt. But that's not your fault. The blame should be put on those who take advantage of you in the first place."
"I know you're right but... that doesn't stop me from feeling like one. That doesn't mean I need you to defend me or something. I'd hate for you to get me in trouble because of Sirius. He doesn't deserve my attention or yours," Elaine stated, folding her arms across her chest.
"But that's the thing... he deserves to finally get retribution for all the pain and heartbreak he's caused other girls, espepcially you! And if no one else is going to do it, then... then I will!" Aisling declared. It had already been decided in her mind that she was going to become the hero for her sister and the rest of Sirius' victims.
Someone had to do it. And so, it was going to be Aisling Malbora.
Elaine frowns. "I don't like this one bit. I think it's just going to cause nothing but trouble."
"Do you trust me?" Aisling sighs, now sitting net to her ssiter and instantly holding onto her hand.
"Of course I do," Elaine immediately answered. Although she didn't always listen to Aisling due to their opposing ideals at times, Elaine did look up to her and she felt happy to have a sister as loyal and protective as her. If Elaine was being perfectly honest, she didn't knw what she'd do without Aisling.
"Then trust me. Sirius deserves what's coming to him. And I'm the one to do it. Think about it! I know exactly what he's about so I won't be foolish enough to fall for his charm," Aisling remarked, faltering when she realized how rude and insensitive her words sounded. "Shit, I'm sorry -."
"It's alright. I already know that I should've listened to your warnings. If I had, then none of this would've happened. I just... there's something so magical about him. It's more than just good looks and charm. Plenty of boys have that. With Sirius, there's more to it. He has a way of making you feel so special and important, it almost makes you forget that he's a giant asshole. Sirius should be studied," Elaine explained.
"He really should be obliterated," Aisling murmured, but it was still loud enough for Elaine to hear.
"Aisling!" Elaine gasps.
"Sorry, sorry," Aisling quickly apologizes with a sigh, "Is there anything else you should warn me about?"
"Anything else?" Elaine furrowed her brows in confusion.
"If I'm going to make Sirius fall in love with me, I'm going to know everything he likes and dislikes. I'm going to be his dream girl and he'll have no choice but to fall for me," Aisling nods to herself, a determined look burning in her dark brown eyes.
"Before you break his heart and ruin his life," Elaine adds.
"When you put it that way, you make me sound like such a horrible person," Aisling pouts. "I don't necessarily think that punishing the guilty is a terrible thing. If anything, it's more like... doing good for the community and making Hogwarts a safer place."
Elaine playfully rolls her eyes before a chuckle leaves her lips. Aisling sits up in shock, wondering if she was hearing things. But sure enough, Elaine had laughed for the first time in days which meant that Elaine was slowly coming back to her old self again.
"You laughed! You finally laughed!" Aisling cheered with a smile. "I was beginning to think you had forgotten how to do that."
Elaine chuckles again, wiping at her face as she did so. "I nearly thought I had forgotten how to laugh too. I missed laughing so much. I miss... being myself in general. I can't wait to feel like myself again."
"There's one way I can make that happen even faster. You won't even have to be involved. Just act like you've moved on from Sirius and basically give me the greenlight to go and 'date' him. Then I can take over from there," Aisling remarked.
"It's not nearly as easy as you think it is. Sirius is very good at what he does. He's done this for years. He's not going to fall so easily for you, Aisling," Elaine replied. "You're better off just pranking him or something."
"A prank isn't good enough. He'll just shrug it off and go back to his old ways within a week. He needs to learn his lesson and be too afraid to ever do this with another girl. I'm going to do this regardless of what you say, Elaine. But I'd really like it if you were on board with me," Aisling replied, continuing to hold onto her sister's hand. "Please, Elaine. Please."
Elaine pauses for a moment, thinking over Aisling's words. While she still wanted to just move on from the whole situation and forget about Sirius, it'd be easier said than done when she had to still go to Sirius and be around him constantly. Elaine would be forced to watch Sirius move on to the next girl and the next girl and the next girl until he finally graduated by the end of the year. Could Elaine really handle it like she thought?
"Let me get revenge for you," Aisling persisted.
"Alright, fine. You can get back at Sirius and break his heart. I'll even help you just so you can have a better chance at breaking his heart," Elaine agreed with a smile.
Aisling smiled, pulling Elaine in for a hug and even going as far as kissing her on the forehead. Elaine just laughs, happy and surprised over Aisling's behavior. Aisling wasn't necessarily a grump but it was rare that she was ever this happy. Maybe it should've been a little alarming that Aisling was this happy over revenge. But nevertheless, both of their fates had been sealed and now the plan for revenge had begun.
And Aisling was prepared to do whatever it took to make Sirius Black pay for his crimes of the heart.
