It's funny, isn't it, how the smallest moment ━ an offhand comment, a glance, or a decision made in passing ━  can unravel everything you thought was secure, leaving your life tipped on its head like a snow globe shaken just to see the chaos.

At sixteen, Viola Kreese thought she had it all. Her life was a shining example of everything going right. Viola and her mom lived in a small house in South Korea. It was a simple but cozy home, filled with love and care.

Clara Kreese gave Viola the gift of possibility. She never hinted that anything was beyond her reach, always making sure her daughter felt capable of achieving whatever she set her mind to. Maybe that's why, even as a young girl, Viola was already planning her future in vivid detail ━ choosing the college she'd attend and imagining the life she wanted to create.

Viola Kreese had it all. She had the unconditional love of her mom, a sharp mind that kept her at the top of her class, and a tight-knit group of friends.

But one friend was special. He'd been a part of her life since they were seven, always there through every high and low, every laugh and tear. Over time, their bond grew deeper, and somewhere along the way, that childhood friendship turned into something more.

Kwon Jae Sung. Yes, you heard that right. His reputation always entered the room before he did, and it wasn't a pretty one. He was a dick. Viola knew it. Her friends constantly reminded her of it. And Kwon? Oh, he knew it too. In fact, he seemed to take some twisted pride in it.

Kwon had his flaws, and the biggest one was his inability to deal with feelings. It was almost laughable how awkward he became, fumbling for words or acting like emotions were beneath him. He tried so hard to pretend he didn't have any at all. But somehow, Viola saw through the cracks in his armor. She liked him anyway, maybe because of the slow, unhurried way he let her in.

Kwon, for his part, seemed to enjoy getting under her skin. He liked to tease her, poke at her patience, and push her buttons just to see how she'd react. But he also admired her. She had a good heart, a kind soul, and a way of sticking by him when most people would have walked away. She never gave up on him. Not until she did.

She was young and happy, feeling richer than most because of all the love and joy in her life. Viola truly believed she had it all. She had it all until that moment, when her life started to fall apart like a thread pulled from a sweater. Once it started unraveling, it was impossible to stop, and everything she thought was solid came undone.

Her mom was diagnosed with cancer, and the perfect world she had grown up in began to break apart, leaving her feeling lost and scared. She watched as the strong woman she owed everything to grew weaker every day, like a shadow of the person she once was.

Her anger was all she could feel. It had been there since the moment she found out about Clara's condition, and it wouldn't go away. Viola wasn't herself anymore. The girl who always smiled and told fun stories had disappeared. That part of her died the day Clara's illness took over. But while Clara was slowly slipping away, Viola was left behind, trapped in a life she didn't want anymore.
