"Blood Cancer. That's what killed him." I say in the same low voice breaking the silence for the first time ever. Our hands are still tangled in together. He looks at me. "I am sorry about that. I really am." He says. I don't know why I am still holding on to his hand. "Well, Let's stop talking about my father for a while." I say. I don't wanna cry. I really don't wanna do this now or in front of him. I don't usually cry in front of people. Not even my mother. I cry when I am alone. "Why did you pass away?" I ask as I look at him. "Well, I am a sick person. I have a breathing disfunction. It is called an asthma." He says. As a Harvard graduate, I know exactly what he's talking about. "My breath isn't" "As tall as a normal person. Yeah. You use an inhaler." I cut him off. He seems impressed. "I am a Harvard graduate." I say to clear things up for him. "Oh, so you're a doctor." He says smiling. "No, I work at a bookstore." I say. "A bookstore? A girl with a Harvard degree is working in a bookstore? Fascinating." He says with surprise filling up his face. "I hate hospitals but, I love books." I say as my shoulders struggle. "Well, it is nice to do what you love." He says. "Cool tattoo." He says as he points at the showing part of my tattoo. I pull my blouse to hide it. "Thanks." I mumble. "What is it?" He asks. I sight. "It is a crow?" I say. "Well, cool. I always wanted to get a tattoo but my parents won't approve of it. I was actually that nerdy type back at high school so I couldn't do anything behind their backs." He says. "The nerdy type, huh?" I say. He looks at me while scratching the back if his neck in embarrassment. "Well, I am guessing you were this edgy girl who had the coolest boyfriend ever and would sneak out every night with him. Am I right?" He asks. Well, I hope so. But, you're talking to a girl that never had her first kiss yet. I might have gotten this tattoo behind my mother's back. But, I am pretty sure I wasn't that edgy girl with the coolest boyfriend ever back in high school. I was that invisible girl with the dead father. I shake my head. "Well, at least you must have a boyfriend now? Please don't tell him I called you beautiful." He says. I smile. I can't hold back my laugh. He's a pretty funny person. Really. I haven't laughed at anything in a while. It actually feels.. good. "Um, I would tell him if he existed." I say smiling. He looks at me with a smile. "You have a pretty beautiful smile. You should smile more, Coraline." He says. "I can call you that, right? I mean we should just cut the formals. I call you Coraline. You call me Charlie." He says. I smile again at him. "So, you don't have a boyfriend?" He asks all about to freak out. I shake my head again. "Well, you must have been in a pretty a lot of relationships?" He says. Why does that guy think that? I mean who would like to date me anyways? "No. I haven't been in a relationship before. I haven't been kissed before. I haven't done any of these thing before." I say. He finally freaks out. "What?!? Are you serious? Like you never kissed anyone? Like ever?" He says. "No." I say. "Well, I am not that bad after all. The nerd scores." He says happily. I smile at him. "Well, looks like you had a pretty good first kiss." I say. "Well, I kissed the most popular girl in my high school days." He says all proud like he won the olympics or something. "And how did that happen?" I ask all curious to know. "Well, I had a pretty bad beat up by her boyfriend and his guys after it. But, I did it." I laugh a little. He holds out a finger as if his heroic story isn't finished yet. "Well, she was my neighbor. I have had a crush on her for a while. She was having a pretty cool party but as the nerd with the strict parents, I couldn't go. I couldn't study for the high music as well. So, I got to her house. I entered the party to search for her. Simply to ask her to lower the music's sound. I finally find her. But, in a closet. All alone and sad. I talk to her for a while. Then as a return for the favor of talking. She gives me the most wonderful and only kiss I have ever had in my life. Then, I get beaten up. Ta-duh." He says as he finishes his story. I clap my hands in applause. He bows as if I wasn't the only one clapping. "Good job, nerdy boy." I say. "Well, I have always been a good man after graduating high school. Ladies always gave me the eye back at my college and until now." He says. I laugh. "Well, why don't you have a girlfriend?" I ask. "Well, Let's say. I am saving myself for a more interesting and mysterious lady. Who is very beautiful by the way." He says in a whisper. I don't know if he's flirting or not. But, I do feel heat rise into my whole face. I stand up. I look down at him. He grabs his coat. He takes out an inhaler. He takes a deep breath. "You okay?" I squat down to him. "Yeah, yeah. Just couldn't take how hot you look when you're standing." He says with a wide smirk drawn across his lips. I stand back up as my eyes roll and my cheeks burn with admiration.
