Reader POV

In the days that followed, I was indeed chosen to be a royal knight but due to injuries, I was still bedridden for a few more days. Nozel moved me to his home where Noelle kept fussing over me, scared I might die even though I assured her I was alright.

I was told to go to the wizard king's castle by Yuno who told me that Lord Julius wanted to tell me something important.

"You don't have to come with me," I said as I got up from my bed.

"Yes I do, idiot. What if you fall over again?" Yuno looked at me like I was a helpless child. "Honestly, (y/n). Just let me take care of you, alright?"

I gave in and allowed him to pick me up and bring me to a chair which had wheels. "You're so fussy."

It's like you're an animal protecting its injured mate.

"You're so clumsy. Shut up and let me take you."

I was quiet as he brought me to the wizard king's castle, only his office was empty. "Maybe he's out scouting magic?"

Yuno was about to say something smart when we saw Captain Vangeance with him on the roof. "What's our captain doing?"

I opened the window and climbed out, ignoring Yuno's protests, only for the wizard king to notice me.

"(y/n)! Watch out!" He lunged towards me, but it was too late.

As I stood absolutely still, I watched my beloved captain turn into Licht, leader of the terrorist group. "No...."

"You're the little brat who's always trying to get in my way!" Licht unleashed his whip, about to strike me.

"(y/n)!!!" Yuno rushed to my aid but the wizard king got there first.

Lord Julius took the blow, grunting a bit. "No harm shall ever come to her, especially from you."

"Lord Julius!"

He turned towards me and Yuno, looking mostly at Yuno. "Take her somewhere safe. Now!"

Yuno was never one to disobey orders, and that wasn't going to change, especially now. He picked me up quickly and flew out, only to run into Captain Yami.

"What the hell is going on?" He snapped to Yuno.

"It's Licht! He's here! He's Captain Vangeance!" I said to the captain who clutched his sword.

"I knew it. That masked bastard." He ran towards the direction of the wizard king and I kicked Yuno extremely hard, him grunting in pain.

I followed Yami towards the fighting, only for a huge array of swords made entirely of light to almost hit my head, but the wizard king stopped it.

I made it onto the roof but let out a scream when I saw it.

"LORD JULIUS!"

"You bastard!" Yami went to go attack Licht while I made my way over to the Wizard King.

I caught him with my magic as I saw him falling. "Lord Julius!"

He fell to the ground, grunting in so much pain. "(y/n). I told you to stay away."

"I don't care! Look what happened! How could you let this happen?! You're the damn wizard king! How could he have hurt you?"

Yuno called my name and appeared beside me, but stopped when he saw me cradling the weakened wizard king.

"My child, I had to do what was necessary to protect this kingdom. Someday you will realize what I did was out of love."

"I don't understand! What are you saying?" I gripped his cloak with tears dripping down my face. "Yuno! What are you waiting for?! Get Doctor Owen!"

"It's too late for him," Lord Julius said as his mouth became bloody. "Please, don't leave my side. I wish to spend my last moments with you."

"Why!? You're the damn wizard king! Heal yourself!"

Lord Julius reached up and touched my cheek, tears in his eyes. "Hush. Allow me to say my piece before I go-"

"No! You'll die! Save your strength." I gave Yuno the dirtiest glare ever. "Go! What are you waiting for?!"

"(y/n), he's dying. Let him speak," Yuno said softly.

"(y/n). I've watched you grow up into a fine young lady. You're so much like your mother, though you've got my hotheadedness." He chuckled a bit. "I hope you'll forgive me for keeping this secret your entire life. You think your father left you? No, he was here beside you the entire time."

"I don't understand-"

"(y/n), I'm your father. Forgive me for not telling you sooner, I was waiting for the right time to tell you." Lord Julius held me tightly, tears running down his face. "I fought today to protect you. A father always protects his children. Please forgive me."

I was about to say something when I felt the grip around me loosen, the wizard king's body going limp.

"I'm so glad I got to see you one last time and tell you that I love you, (y/n)."

"Bastard! Wake up!" I kept shaking him, my tears dropping onto his face. "You can't just die after telling me I'm your damn daughter!"

"(y/n)-"

"Shut up, Yuno! Shut up!"

"He's dead, (y/n). We can't do anything." Yuno moved me away from my father's body and held me close, taking all the punches but never letting go.

"He died after he told me that he's my father. I hate him! How could he have let me live this long thinking my parents abandoned me! I hate him! I'll never forgive him! He could've died after I lectured him!"

Yuno put my face in his chest and allowed me to let out all my anger and frustration. "I know."

"Shut up, you don't know! You don't understand!"

"I know."

I kept screaming and crying, cursing at the world and cursing at my father who lay dead two feet away from me. "How dare he die with a smile on his face?!"

Captain Yami managed to chase Licht away and came near Yuno and I.

"(y/n)-"

"Fuck off! If you're here to lecture me for disobeying direct orders, you can take your dick and shove it up your ass, damn it!"

"I'm not saying anything." He said gently. "I know you're hurting like a bitch right now, but the kingdom needs you. You're one of our most powerful people and we need you. Stand up. You've got no time to be moping about."

"Captain Yami, isn't that a bit harsh?" Yuno gave him a dirty look and held me tighter, me accepting his warmth.

"Shut up, Golden Boy. (y/n), look at me."

I didn't move my head, drenching Yuno's top but I don't think he cared.

"Fine, I'll say it awkwardly to you. (y/n), your father loved you with all of his heart and he has so many regrets, but you'll never be one of them. I knew the bastard almost my entire life. Everything he did, he did for you out of love. So go ahead and curse him out. Hell, I'll curse him out with you. But that won't change the fact that he is gone."

I looked up at Yami and he gave me a headpat. "You need to put aside your feelings right now and fight.
Take all the emotions you feel right now and channel it into your mana. The kingdom needs you."

"This kingdom can go to hell!"

"Oh trust me, I think the same. But your old man made me swear to watch out for you and never let you grow into despair so I will honor his wish. You can mourn him later, alright? Please. For the sake of his legacy and for the sake of the entire kingdom, get up and fight."

Yuno released me and helped me stand up, me leaning against him. "(y/n)-"

"You're right, Yami. I have a score to settle with Licht-or should I say Captain Vangeance." I looked at the Black Bulls captain with so much anger in my eyes.

I made it to House Silva to retrieve the necklace, Yuno heading back to the base for something when I heard a crash and I saw Klaus, only his ears were really pointed and he had two weird tattoos.

"Looney Bird, is that you? Was I out until Halloween?"

The man scoffed and I immediately could tell his magic was hostile. "So you're the one my host loves. (y/n) Silva."

"Host?"

"This body...used to belong to Klaus Lunettes. It's now mine." The elf came towards me, me throwing up a small magic wall of water immediately, not trusting his intentions. "It's funny, really. My host has been in love with you since you were small, but you've brushed him aside. How selfish and vulgar."

My eyes widened as I felt him about to launch a spell, knowing my magic might not be enough to stop him.

Just before the elf launched the attack, the window crashed open and in came Yuno to my defense, standing in front of my bed.

"You will not harm her!" He spat. I noticed he too had overflowing mana that was different and his ears were pointed.

"Who even are you?" The possessed Klaus asked Yuno. "I don't remember you, but you're definitely one of us."

"Who I am doesn't matter. But you will not harm this woman." Yuno stood protectively near me, challenging the elf. "I may not remember you, but she is important to me."

I'm important to him?

"What? Does your host also love her?"

"I'm still me," Yuno said. "And what I feel for her is none of your business. Go away! She's not going to be harmed by you or anyone here."

"You can't stop me. My mana is absolute to yours."

Yuno shook his head. "You forget something. I hold the power of the wind spirit with me. Bell might dislike her, but to please me, she will protect her at any cost. Just as I will."

The elf shook his head. "Now I know who you are. You must be Licht and Tetia's kid. Newsflash, kiddo. That girl-" he pointed to me. "She's a direct descendant of Tetia through Lemiel Silvamillion, Tetia's brother."

"So?"

"That means you can't trust her!"

Yuno placed me in a protective vortex and quickly finished him off, careful not to kill Klaus.

"Yuno, what's going on?"

"I'm not sure," he said. "The magic knights were about to go infiltrate their base and then I got hit with a boost of magic. I haven't changed, but everyone else has. They want to kill us."

I was about to say something when Noelle came rushing into the room, her eyes wide.

"(y/n)! They're attacking us-Hey!" She was about to attack Yuno.

"No! It's still him," I yelled. "Don't hurt him."

Noelle looked skeptical but believed me anyway, giving him an icy glare. "We have to move! Nozel's holding them off for as long as he can, but we need to leave. Now!"

"Absolutely not! I'm fine now, my wounds are all healed." I spat. "I have a score to settle with my captain." I was about to leave when Yuno stopped me.

"(y/n), you were injured during the battle with Langris," Yuno said softly as I tried to get past him. "You think you're healed but-"

"That was my own choice," I responded. "I wanted to stop him from killing Finral. I couldn't! And now I have to avenge my father."

"But you almost died! Are you so stupid to think I'd let you of all people go out in this condition?!" He leaned closer to me, shaking his head. "Absolutely not. You're staying with Noelle. You two get somewhere safe."

"No! I'm fine!"

"You're not!"

"Yuno, you can't stop me!"

"If I have to tie you down to Noelle to keep you both safe then I will."

I shook my face. "You may do that but I will continue to fight, you know. You can't ever stop me, you know that."

"I do, but I want to keep you safe. I told you, I want to protect you. It's my job."

I grabbed Yuno's face and kissed him on the cheek and to my shock, he accepted it. "Please trust me, Yuno. I will be safe."

He held my face with the utmost care, his eyes pooling with emotion. "Now I really don't want to let you go."

"Yuno, I have to help them. My cousins. They need my help. And I have to avenge Lord Julius."

Yuno paced around the room before storming back and holding me tightly, burying his face in my neck. "Fine. I know I can't stop you. But I swear to Gods, (y/n). There's so much I want to tell you. Like hell I'll let you die. You better be careful, you hear me?"

"I will." I looked down at my grimoire. "I have to protect my cousins, Yuno. Noelle can't do it on her own."

"Then go. I'll be nearby, though. Don't you dare get killed, you hear me?"

"You too, dumb-dumb."

Yuno pressed his forehead against mine and left very quickly, not daring to stay any longer.

Noelle and I made it to the top of the tower where Solid's bedroom was, but Letoile as an elf was attacking.

"(y/n)!!!! HELP!" Nebra was overwhelmed by Letoile's arrows but I knew what to do.

I activated my valkyrie dress and pointed to Noelle, knowing this was the only way we were going to win.

"Noelle!" I pointed to her. "Channel every single ounce of magic and feeling you have. I'm going to use my armor. You can use it."

"But I haven't gotten the chance to earn the spell!"

"You will!" I reinforced Nozel's magic and he gave me a nod of gratitude. "Believe in yourself, Noelle! I can't do it without you. You and I have House Silva's water magic."

She nodded but I was suddenly struck with an arrow, as was Nozel.

"Nozel! (y/n)!" Noelle's emotions began to brim and I saw her grimoire glowing.

Fuck, that hurts like a bitch. But hey! My dear little cousin will finally gain an ounce of self-respect if she activates the spell. She's more than deserving of great power.

"Water Magic: Sea God Valkryie Dress!"

Nozel and I watch with pride as Noelle activated the spell just as I was able to heal myself.

"Now! Follow my lead. It should be easier for you now that you and I are using the same magic," I advised her. "And don't you dare fall behind!"

"I'll always follow you (y/n)!" Noelle shouted as we rode the magic currents. "I've looked up to you since we were little. I won't let you down!"

I gave her a nod. "Good."

I guided her through the magic currents and knew she would be fine on her own, seeing that she had much more control over her mana.

I'm so proud of you, Noe.

Her and I took the castle back and I sped off towards the floating fortress, eager to settle the score with my captain once and for all.
