three : bruh

i had fixed up a few wires, and the fixture looked like it would work if i placed a bulb in. reaching into my red toolbox, i pulled out a new package of lightbulbs - the eco friendly ones.

does eco mean like, economically friendly or is it some sort of abbreviation for environmentally? because yeah, they're doing well for the economy since they're so damn expensive.

anyways, back to the task at hand. i screwed in the lightbulb, making sure it was on tightly enough. stepping back, i flicked the light switch, and it turned on, to my relief. i began admiring my work, seeing as since i was the only repairman, i was the only one able to complete tasks like this.

ah, the satisfaction of feeling needed.

my relief only lasted a few moments, though.

the bulb blew out loudly, causing a guttural scream to release itself from my lips as i cowered back, heart thumping painfully against my chest. what the hell, man!

this is what i hated about my job. all this useless stuff that scares more than just shit out of me.

i heard a gentle laughter to my right, and i turned to see kyungmi there, giggling into her fist. "sorry. that was hilarious, though." ignoring the blush creeping up my neck, i shook my head, trying to dissipate any thought of her attractiveness from my mind.

i kinda sneered at her, seeing as she wouldn't stop laughing at me. "just watch, okay? i'll get it done." again, determination painted itself onto my face as i flicked the switch off, carefully clambering back to my spot atop a chair. i can do this.

i've been working here for like, six years.

yeah, since i was 18. amazing, right?

oh wait. that's four years.

you know what i meant.

anyways.

so i continued to tinker with the wires until they looked about right, screwing another bulb into place before backing up and flicking the switch next to the door.

this time around, it thankfully stayed on, gleaming brightly in the dim atmosphere. "there! should be good," i smirked at kyungmi, gesturing to the now functioning light. i gathered my things and headed to the door, her silently following behind me.

i stepped out of her flat, seeing her holding the door, a piece of pizza crust gripped between her index finger and thumb.

she finished chewing and swallowing some pizza crust, before sloppily wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. "thanks. you know, you're pretty chill. i was actually expecting some oldass geezer to come and fix that damn light, but instead i get a lowkey cute guy. see you around, zitao."

then, she proceeded to slam the door in my face.

confused but content, i walked back to the storage closet rather slowly, mulling everything over.

she called me cute. she called me lowkey cute. i was chill too, apparently. that girl didn't even get to see my super awesome martial arts moves. like, come on. don't judge a hoe by their clothes.

i may look like a building maintenance man, but honestly, i'm the only one saving peoples lives around here. who has the time to go from flat to flat, fixing faulty pipes and frayed cables? people could get electrocuted. this building doesn't need more lawsuits against them.

yeah, i work for SM apartments. i'm thinking of quitting soon though - it's practically a slave shop. i had heard about the previous janitor quitting, but we weren't all that close so i don't know who he is.

i don't get payed enough for this, i swear. although the unlimited wifi does satisfy my cold, empty, netflix-obsessed heart, i should be getting an outfit that makes me look hotter than i actually am.

this sweater is so ugly. i want gucci.

only gucci.

wait woah.

bruh.

she called me cute.
