one : kung fu panda

i was laying in bed, a comforter haphazardly thrown over some wooden chairs to make a fort.

i know i'm nearly 22, but come on.

forts are freaking fun.

i was currently leaned back on my mattress, arms neatly folded behind my head as i watched my favourite movie - kung fu panda - for around the 30th time. being a maintenance man for a building had it's perks, and unlimited wifi was one of them. i even had a fixed rate for my electricity, meaning no matter how much i used, i'd always be paying the same amount.

at the fighting scenes, i would get out of my cave of ultimate manliness and imitate po's obviously staged moves, just to assert dominance - i am the best martial artist there is. i am, as the youngsters call it, goals.

the movie was staring to get serious - po had just come to the revelation that if he put effort and believed in himself, he could do anything.

not too long after, my eyes began to water, small tears making their way down my cheeks and dripping off of my chin. it was a really emotional moment for me, and i had to emerge from inside my fort to grab some tissues, dabbing away at my face.

this movie is a gift from the gods, i'm not even kidding. and so, as the end credits rolled by, i had a nice stash of tissues piled next to me, along with popcorn crumbs and a small spill of pop(oops). i cleaned them up hastily, because i do not want bugs in my precious flat.

i glanced at the time - it was only six in the evening, meaning that i had a good four hours to myself. i would shower, grab some chinese take-out, sit back in my cave of manliness, and watch the second kung fu panda, because damn those movies are good.

i rushed to my room, sliding coolly on the laminate floor with my socks. amazing. i was cool and handsome both at the same time.

people who know me are so lucky, honestly.

before i could reach into my drawer to pull out a pair of super badass boxers, my phone went off next to my bed, causing me to scramble over to it. my eyes scanned over the message quickly, my hand instinctively reaching to my dyed blond hair to ruffle it.

'need you in the office, there's another repair on floor 3.'

i groaned, burying my face in my hands. there go my super awesome plans for today.

i mean, i have the same routine everyday, aside from going out for bowling with my two friends, chen and xiumin, every other thursday. xiumin's the oldest out of us, and is rather obsessed with becoming a barista. chen wants to follow in his footsteps, but we both know he can't roast beans worth a shit.

i quickly slipped on my ugly blue "repairs" hoodie, smelling the familiar scent of metal and rust. i ran nearly all the way to my door, before remembering that i stupidly left my keys in my room.

rushing to my room and back, i sped out the door, securely locking it behind me. i am responsible, cool, and handsome.

i made it to the office in no time, the stench of old pizza and cigarettes wafting to my nose as i tried my best not to vomit - i absolutely loathed this place. "you called for me?" i asked the old man, waving my phone at him after bowing.

his dark, wrinkled eyes peered up at me for a moment, before he clicked his tongue and glanced back down at the clipboard he was scrawling something onto.

i waited in bewildered silence for a couple minutes, before his gruff voice broke through. "yes. oh kyungmi in apartment 365 requested a lightbulb repair in her dining room. she asked for immediate help with it, she seems quite worried. do get to this as soon as possible."

i shrugged - broken light fixtures were never anything new, but i hated when the electricity crackled and popped loudly, scaring the shit out of me. "is that all?"

cue another few minutes of thick, suffocating silence. "uh," he tapped his bottom lip with his pen, making me itch to punch it out of his hand.

i wanted him to finish speaking soon, because it felt like my lungs were burning up by the horrid smell.

"yes, that is all." finally! i bowed to him once more before bolting out the door, immediately inhaling as much clean air as i could.

the immediate relief i felt was amazing; under the dim lighting of the hallway, my lungs filled with fresh air, allowing me to breathe normally and easily. god bless the air fresheners in this hallway.

so, apartment 365, eh? i went to the storage closet, grabbing the tools i needed, placing them neatly into my red toolbox and slamming the door shut with my foot.

well then.

time to meet this oh kyungmi.
