"Trevor!"

I charged up the stairs and burst into his room.

I paused in my tracks.

"Trevor..." It was less of an outburst and more of a whisper this time.

I walked over to his bed and touched his arm slightly.

"Mmm...?" he mummured and turned over.

He didn't look alright.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

His drooping eyes ran all over my face and then darted across the room before it settled behind me.

"Have you seen mom?" was the first thing that came out of his mouth.

I shook my head and stared at him with genuine concern.
He sighed and turned back around, groaning in the process.

I was very concerned now.
I sat on his bed and brought my hands forward, deciding if I should put it on his arm.

"I'm fine," he whispered with a strained voice.

I shook my head. "No you're not, Trevor. What's going on? What happened? Are you sick or something?"

He turned round to face me again. When his eyes caught mine, they fell.

"Something happened... with my powers. It's  irrelevant, don't bother. I'm fine."

"What do you mean irrelevant? Everything about that statement is totally relevant. Tell me please! I'm worried okay? I haven't seen you like this since you got the flu in 9th grade and had to stay in bed for two weeks!"

Trevor's eyes widened and he let out a chuckle. "Ow..."
He squeezed his chest and fell back flat on the bed.

Omg, I felt like crying. I hadn't felt this much emotion for my brother before.

I put my hands on his chest and he flinched.
He scrunched his face up in pain.

I put a palm over my mouth.
"Oh my God... Maddie shouldn't see you like this."

At the mention of her name, his expression became stony. He glared at the ceiling and closed his eyes.

What happened?
As I was about asking, he mummured, "You should be going to school. I'm sorry I can't walk with you today."

"Why?"

"I'm just...tired. I can't go to school. I just need rest. But I'll be fine by the end of today...I promise."

I was reluctant to stand up.
"Okay, but can you at least tell me what happened? Please..."

"Okay, fine. I was mad okay? And...my fire." He sighed, "it took over me and I used up so much energy. And I...I burned myself."

I gasped. "How? You can't get burnt...at least by the fire you produce!"

He shut his eyes.

"I dunno Tanya. I'm as confused as you are. But then, strangely, I got healed totally. But I'm still very weak right now. It happens all the time when we use too much magic. I'll be fine by the end of today, okay?"

I nodded. "Yeah, sure. Get better..."
The words sounded weird in my mouth and I felt like a horrible person.

I walked over to the door but paused in my tracks.
"Trevor?"

"Hmm?" he mummured on his pillow.

"The thing with your powers...it's been happening to me too."

That caused him to turn around and sit up, gritting his teeth in the process.

"What? What do you mean?"

"My powers... they've been glitching."

His brows furrowed. "How?"

"My hands just start flickering sometimes...when I get mad. Its hard to control. And anytime I'm in school, I wear these black gloves."

Trevor stuck his tongue in one cheek and I could see he was trying not to laugh.

I scowled. "I didn't laugh at you when you told me yours. Why do you think this is funny?"

He became serious again and then smiled softly.

"I'm sorry. It's just you'd look like a motorbike rider with those on." He let out a laugh.

Despite myself, I laughed with him. He was right.

"But I'm not laughing at the other part. It really serious and it can be dangerous." Then he scoffed. "Look at me, I'm saying can be...it almost killed me," he mummured to himself.

I raised a brow and he noticed I was still standing there.
"Tanya, if this is happening to you too, I think it's happening to all of us. We should tell Chang. Let's all meet today to talk about this. I...I also have something else to say."

"Alright. Should I tell Alexis you're not doing okay? I haven't seen you guys together for a while now. Maybe he can come and see you?"

He rolled his eyes.
"Please no."
He got up from his bed and walked to his desk.

"I'll tell him myself...when I want to."

What was going on between all of them?

"Oh okay. Well, I think he needs to hear it from my perspective."

"No he doesn't. What're you even–"

Then I dashed out the door and ran down the stairs.

"Tanya!" he screamed as I ran out the house and unto the road.

Sorry bro, I just don't like being oblivious.

***

"He said he needs me?" Alexis asked.

School just ended for the day and I met him on his way home.

"Mmhm."

He looked expressionless for a while, then he bit his lip and sighed.

"Okay, say bye bye to your friends now. We're going straight to his house."

"Now?"

"Yup, I have to tell Chang something. There's not much time."

Then he grasped my wrist and began dragging me towards my own house. The nerve!

We walked into Trevor's room and didn't find him there.

"Hm, maybe he's in the kitchen?"

I began to turn around when someone stepped out of Trevor's bathroom.

I swiftly raised my hands up to my eyes to sheild them.

"Tanya, he's wearing a towel," Alexis told me.

"Doesn't matter."

Alexis sighed. "Hey, Trevor."

I slowly brought my hands down to see Trevor in just a towel indeed.

Wow. It kills me to say this but my brother had a very nice body. Without a shirt on he actually looked...hot.

I retched.
"Hey, you okay?" Alexis asked.

I swallowed and planted a smile on my face, while trying to avoid Trevor's body.

Trevor was speechless and frozen, I forgot to point that out.

"Um, Trevor?" Alexis asked.
We were probably creeping him out.

"Hey," Trevor said quietly, "what brings you to my room bro?"

Alexis stuck his hands into his pocket.
"Your sister said you wanted to see me."

Trevor raised his brows at me and pursed his lips.

"Um, I have to go to the..uh kitchen!"

"Hey! Woah, get back here!" Alexis said and lunged at me.

I swerved and ducked, narrowly missing his grasp. I was almost out the door when a gust of wind flew by me and I saw Alexis in my front.

"Woah!" I stumbled and fell into Trevor's arms behind me.

I cursed.
"Trapped," Alexis said and smirked.

Trevor let go of me and I fell backwards, landing on the ground with a thud.

"I never told her to call you. I said I was fine. Thank you very much for your help. I appreciate. Now can you guys leave so I can put clothes on? I'm uncomfortable right now," Trevor demanded.

Alexis and Trevor stared at each other for a solid minute and I was beginning to feel uncomfortable myself. Yes, I counted sixty seconds, thanks for asking.

"Hey, can we talk...like after?" Alexis asked him finally, rubbing the back of his head.

"Uh...sure."

Then Alexis grabbed my feet and dragged me out the door.

"Thank you!" Trevor called out as he slammed the door shut.

"Hey!" I protested until he finally dropped me and walked outside to the back and hung around in Trevor's basketball court.

***

"You're mortals," Chang explained.

"Oh my, that explains it very well. I'm so satisfied, thanks so much. I can leave now–" Trevor started to raise his hands to teleport out of here but I slapped it away.

"What?" he asked.

"Where are you going?"

"To our home, thanks for asking."

"Are you serious?"

"You're never supposed to ask me that ever Tanya..."

I rolled my eyes.

"Chang can you please continue and ignore my brother and his scary sense of humour?" I asked, causing laughter from everyone.

Chang chuckled. "Well, I must say, he's normally a clown, but today he is acting scarily funny I agree. Are you okay Trevor?"

Trevor gave him a tight smile. "Never felt worse."

Chang's eyes widened in surprise and then relaxed as he studied Trevor intensely.

"You're weak."

"Gee, how'd you find out? Was Tanya not lying when she said I looked like a zombie like, earlier?" He scratched his chin in thought.

Everybody looked back and forth between ourselves.

Chang coughed and Trevor rolled his eyes.

"You've expended so much energy," Chang said.

Trevor's face fell and he glanced at Maddie for a moment before he turned to Chang.

"Yeah, I have. Speaking of that, you were saying something about us being human beings."

"Oh, yes!" Chang said.

"Yeah, why our powers are glitching," Maddie said and Trevor glanced at her again with a sad look in his eyes.

They stared at each other for a moment till Chang started talking. Then they focused on him.

"Spirits of magic are not used to mortal bodies. It's totally expected that your powers would start to glitch after a while. Man, and I never thought of this. It's going to be hard for you guys, how are you coping?"

"My shadow just starts growing... light or no light," Lucy said.

"There's a flower bed...on my bed," Maddie said and we all laughed.

Trevor chuckled and stared at the ground, drawing lines with his shoe. "Cute," he muttered.

Maddie blushed.

Eww, what the hell?

It looked like I was the only one who saw that beacuse everyone just kept talking.

"I've burnt a lot of things...you don't need to know the details," Alexa said.

We nodded.

"I've broken every breakable thing I hold, and I can't run anymore because I'd kill myself if I do," Alexis muttered.

"My hands flicker constantly." I shrugged.

We all stared at Trevor, who was looking very serious now.

"I have two things to say," he began. "First, my fire spirit takes over me when I feel some kind of emotion very strongly and it now affects me."

"Your fire burns you?" Chang asked incredulously.

Trevor nodded and then swallowed, "Yeah, and guys... Chang, the thing you said about spirits and mortal bodies...I have to tell you this."

He took a deep breath and let everything out, "I think my dad has Auda's spirit in him."

There was a collective gasp.

"What?" I screamed.
