It's been a week since the whole Auda fiasco. I think everyone had calmed down. At least as much as one can calm down after experiencing all that. I went back fully to my poetry and in that short time, I'd written about fifty poems.

I could say that the whole fiasco had given me lots of inspiration. As usual, I was lost in pages as I wrote, sitting on the bench behind Davie's. I prefered writing with my hand to typing on my laptop so even though I was at home, I'd be scribbling on paper.

Anyways, the sound of scrunching of leaves brought me out of the writing and I looked up to see Alexis walking up to me.

I tensed. Ever since the incident in Bruno's garden, I'd been avoiding him like he was Auda. I didn't know what to make out of the whole situation so I didn't want to complicate things even more.

But as I watched him walk towards me, his falling hair bouncing on his shoulders as he walked, his tall, muscular build and his green deep set eyes that bore into people's souls, I realized something.

The sudden quickening of my heartbeat wasn't necessary. I knew I liked him.

I remembered all the times we fought. All the banter and serious arguments. All the cold glares we gave each other as we walked past. I realised there was even so much chemistry between us even in enemity.

“Hey.” He brought me out of my trance.

“Hey.”

He thrust his hands into his pocket.
“Can I…sit next to you?”

I hesitated for a moment but agreed eventually.

He took a seat and stared off, looking at the brick walls of Davie's.

“It's been a crazy past few weeks hasn't it?”

I smiled. I was glad there was a topic all of us spirits could talk about nonstop. And I was grateful that was what he brought up.

“It has. I'm glad it's over. Finally someone can get back to living like a normal person.”

He frowned. “So, this means that we'll never use our powers again? Besides having fun with it of course.”

A strange feeling came over me.
“Looks like it. That's…sad to think about.”

He nodded. “We'll never be normal again though.”

I chuckled. “True. Hey have you thought of this, if we don't use our powers for a while, will it fade away? Infact can the spirits ever leave us?”

“I'm pretty sure if Chang wanted to take them back he'll just use some spell from a magic book, so yeah. But I don't know about the fading away thing. But hey what if we never find out and use the powers as frequently as possible?”

“That sounds like a great plan,” I said with a short laugh.

There was a comfortable silence for a while as I wrote down a few words in my notebook while he stared off into space. We enjoyed the cool, evening breeze and the smell of alcohol that wafted through the air anytime the door opened.

“Hey, Lucy.”

I turned to face him.

“I know the thing that happened in the garden was very awkward and I know you won't like for me to bring it up. But, I mean I've accepted that you don't like me that way but I'd love it if we were still friends.”

I stared at him with a poker face.

“So what do you say, friends?”

Much to his surprise, I leaned in and kissed him on the lips. He froze at first and then relaxed after understanding the situation.

We hadn't even been like that for more than a few seconds when I heard someone yell.

“Whaaat?!”

“Trevor!”

We both pulled away and turned to the direction the sound came from to see Trevor and Maddie staring at us dumbfoundedly.

Suddenly we all burst out laughing.

“God, Trevor why are you always like this?” Maddie scolded once we all calmed down.

“I can't help it, I'm sorry!” he said, rubbing his hand behind his neck.

She smacked him upside the head and he howled.

We were all walking with the powerful trio, Bruno, Julie and Chang through a quiet street in ankor, the next day, chatting about our battles and laughing about them like it was a movie we just finished watching.

“I thought I'd die, honestly. And I'm not gonna lie I was ready,” Chang said and we all erupted in laughter.

“Yeah, I wasn't gonna let that happen,” Trevor commented. “I mean, if it wasn't my fault that most of the bad things that happened happened then maybe…sure, I'll try but I won't feel so guilty.”

We all laughed at his silliness.

“Speaking of that, Trevor. You were our hero on the battle ground. If you didn't get the book back…I can't even imagine what would've happened,” Bruno said.

“Well, technically,” Tanya began. “it was his fault the book was lost so…”

“Who's side are you on?!” Trevor said to her.

She smirked evilly.

“She's definitely on your side but she just wants to annoy you. It's how the sibling thing works,” princess Julie said and nudged her twin brother who rolled his eyes.

Alexis nodded with pursed lips and Alexa chuckled.

“Yeah…as the older ones, we have to get used to it,” Bruno said with a lazy smile. “Your sister has a point but still, getting it back, going into Shu? The king's throne? Trevor, you are remarkable. Well done.”

He smiled like an idiot as he revelled in all the praise then an evil smile took over his face.

“You know, I think I deserve a statue outside of the palace,” he suggested and we all erupted in laughter once more.

I tried to hold back the tears. My heart clenched as I rolled my luggage across the floor of the airport.

The others were also there with their luggages, ready to go to their respective colleges.

We had finally graduated and luckily we all got admission into colleges of our choice. I was so happy for everyone and sad that I'll leave them all at the same time.

All the spirits were waiting for one another in the airport. Alexis and Trevor were both going to the same school, Maddie was going somewhere close to their school, Alexa was going somewhere quite far from us and I was also going somewhere a bit far.

Tanya was the only person who wasn't leaving. The girl looked so emotional, I thought she was going to cry. But...that wasn't likely with Tanya.

“Lucy!” my best friend called out as I walked over to her with Carl trailing behind me.

Carl. I told him about my feelings towards Alexis and though he looked dejected at first, he was fine and accepted everything well. He was still my best friend ever. And I knew I'd always love him. The thing with Alexis was still complicated but we agreed to take it slow especially since we were going to be apart. So it was better we weren't together.

Maddie almost squeezed the life out of me and would've if Alexis didn't pull her away. He gave me a big hug and a peck on the cheek. Soon, the other spirits came and we all gave individual hugs before we did one last group hug.
We were all in tears as we pulled away. Even Tanya.

“I guess this is it,” I said through tears. “Promise to always visit here every holiday everyone?”

“Promise,” they all chorused and we had one last group hug before we all dispersed.

Who knew ancient spirits could bring all these wonderful people together?
After everything we'd been through, I just wished we'd have happy lives ahead of us and keep these smiles on our faces forever.

With friends, love, life and magic, what else could you ask for?
