The monsters didn't even wait for us to get ready or for me to stop screaming at Trevor.

One of them stuck one of its hairy legs outwards, the tip aiming for Trevor's back.

"Trevor!" we all screamed and he dived forward, narrowly escaping...what I don't want to think about.

The other two monsters-for some reason- stayed behind as if wondering why we looked so small and pathetic.

The other one advanced and we took simultaneous steps back. Trevor stood up gradually and stealthily behind it and a ball of fire formed in his palm.

I missed that. Honestly, I missed him.

I missed his jokes and stupid playful attitude. I was nostalgic for the brown colour of his irises and the orange colour it transformed to whenever he was livid. I missed when he was in his suit, missed when he created fire.

Now I couldn't even fathom how much cooler and even more admirable he'd become over the past few days. Having both the fire and water spirit? Damn that was undeniably hot.

But I'd left him. I was so overwhelmed with everything. I honestly wasn't thinking now I look back that night. I didn't want to leave him. I still loved him. I just wanted everything to go back to normal...or at least become reasonable and bearable if not normal.

And now, he wouldn't even look at me for more than a second. It hurt so much. He probably hated me now and I deserved it. The way we treated him...we all deserved to be hated by him.

Well except his sister.

"Trevor are you crazy? Hit him already!"

I snapped out of my trance and my eyes almost popped out of their sockets once I took in the scene before me.

Probably the monster was attracted to fire-or Trevor was just too irresistible- because it was standing right in front of him watching the ball of fire that lit Trevor's hand in awe.

I gulped.

What was wrong with this boy? And why was even his insanity so attractive?

The monster now had two of its hairy legs in front of him and they were gradually being lowered.

Trevor, whose chest was visibly rising and falling rapidly, increased the glow of the fireball in his hand. This caused the monster to advance even more.

I tried not to scream as I studied Trevor so intensely. As I did, I noticed something in his eyes. I realized he was deciding whether to hit the monster or not. Or not...

Did he want to die?

Before I had a chance to think about it, he vanished.

The monster lunged at the air in front of him and made a strangled noise like it was mentally smacking itself for being stupid and not attacking sooner.

I understood. Looking at Trevor hold a fireball could put you in a trance.

Anyways, there was a lot more action after that.

The disappointed monster now focused all his attention on us and that somehow made the other two wake up from their slumber and advance towards us as well.

"I can't believe he just left like that!" Chang roared and I glanced at him in disbelief.

I didn't have time to reply to his comment because a giant wing was flying through the air, coming straight at us.

"Duck!" Alexis yelled and we all did.
Once the wing had flown past us, Alexa zapped it and it scattered to pieces.

I wondered what the wing was made of.

"He's never allowed here again!" Chang yelled and I rolled my eyes so hard it hurt.

"We get that! We heard it a long time ago!" Tanya screamed back at him.

The monsters were closer now, moving towards us with faster strides.

By now, we'd already transformed into our suits.

This time, the monsters didn't wait to admire us. One of them opened their mouth wide and a familiar ooze sprayed out of it.

It took me a second to realize it was heading for Chang who was focusing on another monster.

“Chang!” someone yelled at him.

He was too slow to know what was going on in time but Tanya saved him anyway.

She was in front of him in a flash and her forcefield surrounded both of them as soon as the ooze was about making contact with Chang.

I sprung into action and stuck my two hands forward. The grass at the monsters' feet rose up and tangled them, giving Tanya and Chang enough time to retreat.

It didn't hold off for long though. Their scissor-like legs and wings cut through the weak plants and they broke free, not wasting a second to begin to advance towards us.

I sighed and ran back to the others.

“Chang what do we do?!” Alexa shreiked.

Chang's eyes were searching for the solution. But there wasn't time to think. The monsters were getting close.

“Guys!” Lucy screamed and took action.

With a single tap with her feet on the ground, all the advancing monsters froze.

“Ahh...that never gets old,” I heard Alexis mummur and I turned to look at him. I was shocked at the way he looked at Lucy. There was so much admiration in his eyes.

“Okay,” Chang started and we all focused on him. “As Lucy's holding them off, listen. I've heard about these creatures before and they're almost impossible to defeat but I don't know, what if we try that trick we worked on today?”

“Omg, yeah let's try that!” I yelled in a hurry and they all agreed.

“Ahh!”

We whipped around to see Lucy on the floor, clutching her leg. Her face was contorted with pain.

The monsters had broken free and they probably shot her with that acidic goo.

“Luce!”

We all rushed to her and carried her back, quickly taking positions as soon as we dropped her.

“What are you guys doing?” she asked with a strained voice.

“The trick we practiced earlier.”

“I can help you.”

“No!” Tanya yelled.

“Now!” Chang screamed

The ball of magic formed in my hands and once I saw the already connected ones in the middle I directed it at the growing ball.

“Faster, they're coming closer!” Chang screamed like a maniac. He wasn't helping.

The ball wasn't getting big enough. We weren't many.

Surprisingly, but also not surprisingly, Lucy joined in from her spot on the ground.

I don't know how she did it. Doing this required so much effort and she was already injured. She was so strong.

“Now!” With a swift movement, just like we'd practiced, we flung the ball towards the advancing monsters’ direction and quickly fled.

Boom!

A huge explosion shook the earth and we all fell to the ground. Smoke covered the entire garden and we were choking for a while until the smoke drifted away.

When everything had cleared away, we sighed in relief as we took in the sight of the monsters’ remains littering prince Bruno's garden.

“Holy Reina, I've had enough for today. Spirits you are dismissed. And good job. That was really impressive...”

I can't decide who disappeared first, Tanya or Alexa but I disappeared after them both. I appeared in my room and immediately slumped to the ground. I think that was how I slept that night.

I can't wait for the next chapter heheheheh
