•Chapter 7•
~Alexa~
I decided against going to a spa or a mall and that was the worst mistake I'd ever made. I would have stayed on my bed and kept video chatting my friends, the other girls who modelled for my mum.
My mother was the owner of a fashion line, Helen clothing and cosmetics. I modelled for her but, sadly, didn't get paid for it.
The other girls that model for my mum were the only actual friends that I got. Well except for a few people who go to the same school as me.
For some reason we're not allowed to be friends with people who aren't rich. I'm neutral about it but I don't know about my brother, Alex.
Speaking of Alex, he called me downstairs and told me that he was going to Davie's this evening. It's like our favourite place to hang out. I told him that I'll be right back and I just needed to change.
I put on comfy clothes, pulled my brown hair up in a high ponytail, grabbed my phone and headed downstairs in minutes.
As I descended, Alex yelled my name and told me to stop doing something.
"What is it now?" I thought, as I reached the bottom of the stairs.
"Stop doing what?" I asked, sincerely confused.
"Uh... nothing. Never mind."
"Okay, weird," I answered, "Are you ready?"
I glanced at him.
My brother usually doesn't care about what he wears. I mean as far as it was clothing material and it was for males, he put it on.
The worst part was that whatever he put on he looked stunning in it.
I don't know if he knew that but he didn't seem to care.
A security guy walked in and told us that a guy was waiting for Alex outside.
"Who would that be?" I wondered as we walked outside.
I was surprised to see a light skinned black guy standing in front of our house. He looked familiar to me.
"Uh...hey," I said to him.
Then I turned to Alex with a raised brow.
"You didn't tell me he was coming."
Our eyes met and he knew what I was thinking.
But he just said, " Well, he is. C'mon," and walked off.
I turned back to the guy.
"You're...?"
"Trevor."
I studied him, wondering why Alex wanted to hang out with him.
There was silence for a while.
" Yeah..." he replied and left to meet Alexis.

The ride in the limo was awful.
Firstly, it was Alex's limo so he called the shots. Plus, he and Trevor chatted all through while I sat staring out through the tinted window.
Alex was saying something about drinking alcohol.
"I'm gonna drink tonight too, Alex," I mummured.
"No, you're not," he replied.
"What? Why? That's not fair."
"You know you can't handle it," he said with a smirk.
Dang. I knew I couldn't.
The last time I did, horrible things happened.
With a deep scowl on my face, I turned away from them while they resumed chatting.
It wasn't just about drinking.
All through my life, Alex has always been the one calling the shots.
Dad told him he had custody of all the cars he had, including mine.
Mom gave him permission to watch over me. Like I needed watching.
I was an adult but it felt like I was still a child, always being controlled by Alex.
A flash of lightning ripped through the sky, making me blink.
Soon, thunder roared.
We reached the bar.
While we were at Davie's, Trevor and Alex kept on talking but this time I was part of the conversation.
Alex admitted to Trevor that he didn't usually hang out with his friends here at Davie's.
"Why?" Trevor asked.
"Cause I don't have friends." Alex shrugged.
Trevor looked, well, skeptical.
"Alexis," Trevor said, "I don't believe that."
Alex laughed.
"He's serious," I told Trevor.
"You're like his only...friend," I stated.
"Why?"
"Just...reasons," Alex answered.
"So, why all of a sudden...me?" Trevor asked.
"Same thing I wanted to ask him," I mummured.
"Lex, shut up," Alexis said.
I rolled my eyes at him.
"To answer your question Trevor, I just decided to give you a shot because, like you know, I didn't have friends before now 'cause well, it was a personal decision of mine.
"I just didn't see the need for friends. But anyway, I just decided to give it a shot and you, you're new and you seem pretty cool so-" Alex said.
"Wait, me? Of all the people around you, in school, everywhere?" Trevor's eyes were dilated in an unnerving manner.
"Yeah, the other people at school, I've already been around them for a while and we just were never friends so, it'll just be weird. But you're new, so I think I should start with you. And you're really good at basketball. That's something we have in common, so it's good, you know." Alex was nervous.
I've never seen him that nervous before. I mean, he was asking a guy to be friends with him and he felt so uncomfortable. I wondered what it would look like of he actually decided to ask a girl out.
I giggled and the thought.
"Hey man, it's cool. I mean, you're pretty chill. Also, when I first met you, you were like, so intimidating so I didn't really see us becoming friends but, yeah. We could make it work. We're both starting afresh or something like that so we'll just see where it goes," Trevor said.
Okay, I was getting tired of their discussion.
"Oh, yeah. Um, Trevor? Welcome to the team," Alex said.
"Serious, dude?" Trevor said, beaming.
"Yeah, you're a good player. We need you on the team. Practice is every Wednesday and Friday. Tryouts are over and I've got the whole team ready."
"Oh, wow. Looking forward to tryouts."
After that we babbled on about different random things. We were halfway done with our drinks.
Alexis didn't let me drink any other thing other than soft drinks and juice. Meanwhile, he sat there sipping a cup of champagne in my face.
I was seething.
We all decided to leave soon beacuse it was pretty late.
We payed for the drinks and left for the limo that was waiting for us outside the bar.
I was so mad at Alex that I didn't talk to him even while we were in the car. On our way home, lightening flashed and thunder struck again.
Droplets of rain started to hammer the windows of our limo soon. I sat facing the window, watching the rain fall sideways and slide down the glass. The rain was quite heavy. If you walked in it, it would have been almost impossible to see.
It would've been like running in pitch darkness. I was glad we were in a car.
Suddenly the limo came to a screeching halt in the middle of the road.
"Hey!" Alex called to the driver.
He raised the partition blocking the drivers section.
To our horror, he was unconscious.
Alex shook him.
He didn't wake up.
"Don't tell me this guy still takes drugs even after he has passed out because of it like a billion times!" Alex yelled in annoyance.
I had no idea we had a driver who took drugs and fainted a couple times before.
"Lex, call someone, the security guy, cleaner, anyone," Alex told me as I hurriedly brought my phone out of my purse.
"Uh..." I stammered.
"What?"
"Battery dead."
Silence.
"What about yours? Use your phone," I told him.
"I...left it at home."
"Why would you do that?!"
I started to panic.
"We're stuck here," Alex said, much to my annoyance. Like I didn't know that already.
"What're we gonna do?" I asked.
His eyes darted around and hung onto something finally.
He looked at me, scared. "We have to walk home."
"What!? OMG! Alex, that's like, impossible right now! Aren't you seeing how heavy the rain is!" I shreiked.
He ignored me and reached out for two umbrellas. He held one out to me.
"You've got to me kidding me!" I yelled out loud.
"You got a better idea?" he asked.
I wished I did.
He pulled open the door of the limo and rain poured down into it.
He walked out, his clothes immediately drenched from the heavy downpour.
"You coming?" he beckoned to me.
"Gimme the stupid umbrella."
I clambered out of the limo. The rain pelted me through. There was no point of the umbrella anymore.
We were jogging now. I was happy I wore sneakers.
We started to pick up pace.
"Where do we know we're going please?" I asked.
Personally, I would have waited in the limo for the rain to stop but it looked like it wasn't gonna stop in a while.
"No idea," Alex said. "I think we need to find shelter and then wait there for the rain to calm down."
"I can barely see," I complained as rain poured into to my mouth. I spat it out.
I stopped. Alex slowed down.
"What?" he asked.
"I'm... exhausted and so cold right now," I whined.
"Here." He held out his hands.
I took it and we started running again.
We ran for a while and then I heard a sound. Suddenly, Alex hit something and it fell down.
Alex walked over, bent down and groped through the rain for what he hit.
It was a person.
"Trevor!" Alex yelled. "What are you doing here?"
"I should be asking you that. You're the one with the car," Trevor said, getting up and wiping his face with his hands.
"You have a point," I admitted.
"The driver to the limo fainted and the limo stopped in the middle of the road," Alex told him.
"Woah! That's weird. Is he okay?"
Trevor asked.
"Yeah. It's not the first time he's fainting.
Once the rain stops, I'll call help to come get him. What happened to you?" Alex asked.
"I couldn't reach my house before the rain started," Trevor explained.
He pointed at my hand.
I looked down. "Oh, this stupid umbrella. I don't even need it anymore." I threw it down.
"You have any idea where we are?" Trevor asked
"Nope!" Alex yelled through the rain.
"Let's find somewhere to shelter," I suggested.
The rain was reducing a bit now.
We ran off.
Luckily, we found a building that looked old and abandoned.
The door was locked but Alex managed to open it.
We walked in and collapsed on the ground. The building was stocked with boxes lined up to the roof.
Alex stood up after a while and walked deeper into the building. Trevor and I sat there shivering.
Orange light flickered nearby. Probably where Alex went.
"That place seems warmer," Trevor said. "You coming?"
He stood up and walked further into the building to the direction Alex followed.
I stood up and followed behind.
