Chapter Two

-Mumbo's POV, 1st-

I stared in shock as Grian disappeared into the piece of software. He seemed so different, weird; reserved, even! It was like he was someone else, but still in his own body, with the same features. Might he not have said that he could do this before, I would have accepted the shock that overtook me in that moment.

It was but a few moments later that I received a weird feeling, then, nothing. It felt like someone was talking distantly, saying something barely audible, yet something that pounded through my ears at the same time. It was two voices, merging into one. It was saying, "Aliquid" and "Something".

Next moment, the same thing happened, though with different words. "Nescio, noli me reprehendo" and "I don't know, let me check.." What was going on, what sort of glitch was this? A Redstone glitch? Was someone pranking me? It stopped so I refocused myself on the computer situation, because it is obviously more dire than this one.

I had been trying to summon a banned entity, somebody that I could get some answers from. His name is Evil Xisuma, and, as the name suggests, he is the literal evil version of my friend— and server creator— Xisuma. He was banned by Xisuma a long time ago, in Season 6. But I wanted answers from him.

I knew that he would have the answers, as a game glitch. He could hack the transfiguration code, which modified each Hermit's mindset, ability, and on rare occasion, fusion. I wasn't a fusion, per say, but I have a mindset partner, who's name is Doctor Smiley, or DS, for short. He just appeared when I started season 7, controlling my more.. insane emotions. Thankfully, his name is so ridiculous I have something to laugh at.

Anywho, DS is now a part of my mindset, and I've learned to get along with him. In my most vulnerable emotion, anger, he emerges, ready to take over and control it all until I am able to conduct myself. I do most of the work, since it's my body and all, but he is a part of me and I want to know why. That's why I went looking for Evil Xisuma, or EX, for short.

Just then, a message appeared from Grian, saying that it was just a glitch and that it was fine. Next thing I know, Grian reemerged out of the computer, smiling, and chatting with someone behind him, his back completely turned from me, facing the computer. "Yeah, it's weird, like, who would banish their own counterpart?"

He spoke in a voice that sounded like someone else. It was creepy, quite honestly. I was angry at him, though. Why not tell me he could jump into computers?! Another person followed after him, but I didn't honestly care about anything except getting some answers at this point.

"What the hell dude, why didn't you tell me you could jump into computers like Mario into a sewer pipe?! I would've liked to know that before you disappeared into thin air!" I yelled at him, temper rising. "You don't wanna know half of what I can do, beanstock," I growled at him.

"Bring it on, pipsqueak!" It's immature, I know, but it's not my fault. My rage was compiling, and I felt my control fading rapidly. I didn't care. Let my insanity take over. whoever this punk was, he has some nerve possessing Grian's body. I felt DS take over, but I was so mad, it was the equivalent of blacking out, instead of the normal spectator mode.

-DS POV, 1st-

It felt so good, being in control of both sides, but it also meant that all the brainy functions fell on me, which is not very fun. "Hey Ben, how are you doing?" He stumbled back a bit, losing his train of thought. Clearly, he thought that I was still Mumbo. I wasn't, thankfully. My equivalent is nice, but it's like a 24/7 sibling rivalry, and each sibling wants the same thing.

"Who the fuck do you think you are?" Ben asked, regaining his composure. "Listen, Ben, I know that you are a part of Grian, so you ought to know that I am a part of his dear friend, Mumbo," he looked at me like I had three heads, before asking, "What's your actual name? Like, yours. Not... his." I noticed the disdain in his voice when he mentioned my counterpart but chose to ignore it.

"It's me, Doctor Smiley. Your friend?" He looked like it all had just clicked and sighed. I too was slightly relieved that it was someone I know. If anyone wants to know, I knew it was Ben because of his voice, and annoying yet amicable attitude. See, Ben does this thing with his stance when he's on defense, and it's like a cute little cat with its fur standing up to look big but it's too small to be intimidating.

He was truly the most adorable thing sometimes, and- I'm getting off track. "You're blushing. Someone on your mind?" Ben asked. My face flushed. "No, just... It's nothing, it's just that being in control, full control, is really hard, you know?" He nodded. "Yeah, mine is completely knocked out. Must've been angry and tired." I nodded.

"Yeah, same here. He pent up way too much anger. Might be out for a bit..." Quite honestly, spending time with Ben while we were both in control might not be so bad. "That was very... confusing." A voice chimed in from the corner. I yelped before hissing at them. "Did you just- you know what, I've seen weirder.. Anyways, I'm Evil Xisuma, or EX for short."

"Wow, you have a nickname?" I asked sarcastically, staring him down. "Yeah, EX, why?" He asked, staring me coldly in the eyes, only the whites showing. They were giving off a faint glow. It was kind of cool, but also kind of creepy, and I say that living in a mansion with creepy eyeless murderers and flesh-eating organ reapers. "I mean, I have a nickname too, so, I was just wondering." I said. "My name's Doctor Smiley, but you can just call me DS." 'EX' stared at me for a minute. "Like the gaming system?" I rolled my eyes but nodded regardless. "If you can't remember two letters without relating me to what you use to play Pokémon, sure."

Okay, maybe we could just go back to Mumbo's place, he had a postboard. What was tha- Oh. It was then that I realized that I— we— had just over 400 notifications from the other members of the server. Guess I should check those... And I did, but they were pretty much the same thing, repeating twenty times over, all by different people.

It was a string of words, but my mind couldn't piece it all together at once. I was tired from carrying all of Mumbo's thoughts; He was somehow thinking unconsciously. It was weird but so was he. We all decided on heading to Mumbo's place and so that was where we went. "What, so, we're just gonna sit here and talk, or, what?" EX asked as we stood in silence for our third consecutive minute. I stopped.

"What else is there to do? Aren't you all tired from being in control? Or is it just me?" They nodded slowly and we sat down on Mumbo's bed as we chatted for a while. Ben fell asleep eventually and so did EX. I rubbed my eyes, ready to fall asleep myself. We hadn't bothered getting up so we were all on the bed with Ben halfway off, EX curled up at the top, and me at the end.

----------------Two Hours Later----------------

-Grian's POV, 1st-

I woke up, rubbing my head, and attempting to sit up. I couldn't though, as there was a person on either side of me, and if I moved, they would wake up. I figured it was Ben's doing, presumably while I was asleep. I blushed in embarrassment when I realized who it was on either side, though. On one side was Mumbo. On the other was EX. EX wasn't my favorite person but he liked chaos almost as much as I did.

I decided to wake EX. Maybe we could talk about what had happened. "EX, excitare.."(EX, wake up..) I whispered as I shook his shoulder. "Wha- where-?" He asked as he woke up. Light sleeper much? "Oh, we're at Mumbo's.." He then looked at me, realized what was happening, and moved far over to his side of the bed. His face was a bright red, presumably with an embarrassment that matched mine.

"Tu scid quod suus 'iens in cum meis vox?"(Do you know what's going on with my voice?) He scratched his head, before saying, "Yes, but fixing it will require some time.." "sic vos can figere eam?"(So you can fix it?) "Yep, just gonna need to get your voice code. I nodded. I gave him a slip of paper, which read 7 18 9 1 14, or my name in number code. Xisuma had named each of our language codes after our names when he coded the new system.

"Okay. It will only take a minute. It would have taken hours if I didn't have your voice code..." Wow, that quick? "Frigus, potest facile credere quod factum est."(Cool, can't believe it was that easy.) "Yep. The input is loading currently, but if this ends out slightly off, just know that I'm still half awake."

Suddenly, I felt a jolt run through my body, and my mouth felt like sandpaper. "How do you feel?" He asked. "Like crap, but I think it worked." I clasped my hands over my mouth, then moved over and hugged him. "Thank you!" I said, and he smiled. His face was still red. Was he ok? "Are you good? Your face is turning red."

He nodded, though his face's color deepened to a crimson red, and I was starting to get worried. Did he somehow catch a cold? I laid my hand across his forehead, testing his temperature. "You're burning up— Are you sure you're ok?" "Mhm, yeah, I'm fine, no need to worry! Not that you were or—" I cut him off. "You're acting a bit weird. I could call Doc..."

"No, that's fine, really, I don't need any help!" "Your face is so red tho—" He cut me off with a peck on the lips and then got up and speed-walked out of the room. I stared after him. Well okay then...
