Chapter Eleven

-Joe's POV, 1st-

Why is it that I never get the answers to any of my own questions, yet, when somebody asks me one, I always answer? It's like I'm the teacher in a room full of kids. They'll always be asking me things, not bothering to be quiet, and I'm legally required to answer if I want the pay. And yet, when I ask them something, they are suddenly all ears, as if they are physically unable to be helpful. I hate it.

"So, Puppeteer, what's going on here, then?" I asked him, but he just stared at me. "He doesn't like to talk to his hosts, duh." Xiecu said plainly. "Well, fine then, I just wanted some sort of clue to what's happening here, but I guess answers are a luxury that I don't have access to..." I mumbled angrily. I'm not one to have a temper, but this was just annoying. "If you're done, then you can help us find Monori and Dee, as they've gone missing,"

"Woah woah woah, you expect me to help you find your friends in a strange world that I don't even know, when you won't even answer the simplest of questions? Nah ah, not happening!" Puppeteer sighed. "To put the answer to your first question in short terms, this world is cursed by deep majick, different than other worlds' 'magic', ours is much more powerful, with even murkier origins," I nodded. "Sounds intriguing," I inquired. "Not really, though our majick is very aura centered..." Well, that sure is an explanation, but nothing like the one I expected.

-Mumbo's POV, 1st-

"So, what do you work as, your job?" Lako asked me. They wore a taupe dress, with a brown apron around their waist. They had on black socks, and black slacks. They also had long, black hair, and chocolatey brown skin. They had light brown eyes, and an orange headgrass. They were very pretty, in a sense. If I wasn't gay, I would have a crush on them. The way they spoke was weird, but I liked it nonetheless.

"I work as a part-time Redstoner, and I live on a huge island with my friends," Lako looked at me in confusion. "What's red stone?" They asked. The oblivious look on their face scared me, as if they had never even heard of the word. "It's a thing that people use to automate things, make them functional for everyday needs, and some of the more complex Redstone engineering works are purely used for benefit." They still looked confused. "Aw-toe-mate? What's that?" I sighed. This person must be a newbie or something.

"Make things work without having to do them yourself. Normally in Redstone builds, it's used to make a surplus of something, like sugarcane, or wood. It's quite simple, once you get the hang of it," They nodded, looking slightly less confused. "I'm sorry to be a bother, sir, it's just... Nobody has ever said anything about 'Redstone', or 'Automate'. It sounds like it would be very useful, if only we knew how to work it..."

"Well, I can certainly help you, if you wish. I know all there is to know about that sort of stuff. I can help you with whatever you want to know-" she sniffled. "I've... I've never been offered help before, working as a slave... Don't get me wrong, the slave-owner is a very nice woman, and we're lucky to have her instead of some rich drunkard, but... We never get treated fair, and we're blamed for everything..."

"That sounds horrible... But I can help you, if you want! I have just one question, though..." They nodded. "Are you male or female? You don't have to answer, if it makes you uncomfortable-" "I'm female, I just have a low voice, for some reason..." "cool, cool... Do you mind if I cut one of these down?" I pointed at the trees. She shook her head. "I dinna ken what you could want with it, though," I nodded, punching a small tree down. I used it to make a crafting table, some sticks, and a few pieces of wood.

"How did you do that?" She asked in wonder. "Let's just say I have some experience with this stuff," she nodded, staying quiet, and watching as I worked. She sat down in the leaves, watching as I made some wooden tools, and start to dig into the ground. I got to stone, and staircased all the way down to Y level 10. I knew where it was, because I found some of the normal stuff, like coal, and iron on the way. That meant that if I was approximately on the Y levels for those resources, I could count down until I landed at 10.

I started stripmining, until my stone pick, which I had made once I had gotten enough stone to make one, broke. I walked back up the earthy passage quickly, and resurfaced at the spot where my crafting table laid. Lako looked at me curiously as I made a few furnaces to smelt the iron in, and made another pick with my last 2 sticks. I'd have to get more wood soon. I put the iron in one of the furnaces to start smelting, and cut down another tall tree with my stone axe that I had just made. It fell down, giving me tons upon tons of wood.

Walking back to the furnaces, I grabbed a few pieces of iron, combining them with some sticks to make an iron pickaxe. "What's that?" Lako asked, staring at the shiny new tool in my hand. "It's an iron pickaxe, used to cut stone, like a normal pick, but it can also mine diamonds, which, if hardened, can make very good weapons, deeming it quite useful," She nodded in awe. "So, you could use it to, 'get rich', per say?" I nodded. "Using one of these requires a lot of strength, which most people have. Some don't." She nodded again. Mumbo... You can't go disturbing other dimensions without me! "Who the hell are you, then?" I thought, and they went silent. "I'm Doctor Smiley." The voice appeared to be coming from behind me now.

"Ah, how good it feels to stretch my legs, like a normal human!" I was afraid of what I might see if I turned my head, but I looked anyways. He wore black suit pants, with a white dress shirt, with white socks, and black slacks. He had a blank, white face, with a red smile carved on, as if a kindergartener's drawing had been adorned on the blank canvas with blood. It took all of my willpower not to puke, because, oh my Jesus Holy Hermits, that face was creepy. "Aren't you... Delightful..." I said, the strong urge to run being pushed down by intimidation.

"So, Mumbo, it's nice to finally see your face in person!" Doctor Smiley said joyously. "Yeah, sure..." "well, you can get back to mining, then, if you want to find diamonds before dark," I nodded. He was odd, but at least he was... Semi-sane? What would you even call it? I don't wanna know. "I'll be chatting with Lako, then, bye!" I had completely forgotten about her. She was still sat down in the leaves, looking as if this was a normal occurance. "Okay, I'ma just..." I said, trailing off, and walking down into the mines. This was one weird day, that's for sure.

-Scar's POV, 1st-

I awoke with Wels on one of the cozy couches in his upstairs area. I couldn't quite remember much, except that we had been watching some sort of movie, and then I snuggled up to him, and fell asleep. From what I can recall, it was something called "The Child Remains". It was really scary, and I will probably have nightmares from it for the next week and a half. Either way, the movie scared the skin off of me. "Wels? You up?" He stirred slightly. "Wha's the ma'er?" He asked groggily. He looked so cute when he was tired- "nothing, really, just... I don't know... I'm still a little shook after last night's movie..." He nodded in understanding.

"Want me to stay up with you? It's still early, like, 12:00 PM, I think..." I shook my head. "You should just try and get back to sleep, I'll be fine..." "that's it, now I have to stay up!" "Why?!" "I don't believe that you'll be fine on your own, because, from experience, I know that being alone never really helps you..." I sighed. There was no talking him out of this, because he is as stubborn as I am, if not more. "Wanna watch another movie, or whatever?" He asked, and I nodded. We turned the tv back on, this time choosing Gravity Falls. "Oh my God, this show is amazing, right?" I asked, and he nodded. We had ended up agreeing on this, because it was one of the only non-horror related movies/ shows that he had.

I guess that, in all actuality, Wels sacrificed a lot for others to be happy, and he has done so much to help this country. He has his own opinions, sure, but he expresses them how he sees fit. That's one of the things I like about him: he acts like himself, not some normal, see-to-the-standard type of guy. He was considerate, and yet stern when he had to be. He probably deserves a lot better than me...
