Chapter 1: Everyone is Confused
• • •
It wasn't often that Aizawa was late, as much as he would like to sleep and never wake up, he'd rather not keep his chaotic bunch waiting. Thought the days he was tardy were increasing steadily, all due to a certain villain? vigilante? who refused to let him have a peaceful life.
But it seems life likes to fuck with the people who just want to sleep because when he entered his classroom, he immediately knew something was wrong.
There were two problems.
One, where was Shinsou?
And two, who was this green haired boy that was sitting in his seat?
• • • • •
"...Eh?"
The room was silenced as a white scarf wrapped around their classmate's frame, red eyes shining with his quirk as he approached the green haired teen.
"A-ano..."
"Who are you?"
Green eyes blinked at him, the whole class blinked at him.
Aizawa paid them no mind, opting instead to direct his attention at the freckled male.
"Who. Are you" he repeted, firmer.
'Is- is this a test...?'
"I-Izuku Midoriya?" He answered, unsure if that was what the man wanted to hear.
"Midoriya, why are you here?"
Silence.
"B-because this is my classroom?" He once again stammered out, hesitant.
A brow was raised.
"Your classroom?"
"Y-Yes?"
"Um, Aizawa-sensei... If I may ask, why is Midoriya tied up?" Yaoyorozu spoke up after some coaxing from the others.
The mentioned male turned to her, calculating.
"You know him?"
The female looked at her classmates, unsure. They shrugged, they had no idea what was happening either.
"Yes, he is Izuku Midoriya, a student of UA, class 1-A" she stated.
He was silent.
Then, sighed.
"I see"
'The work of a quirk?'
He looked around, still noting the absence of one of their actual classmates.
Do they even remember who Shinsou is?
"If that's the case, then where is Shinsou?" He asked. Because this stranger was currently sitting on his seat.
"Shinsou?" Kirishima repeated.
"He's... in his class"
"And his class is...?"
"...1-C"
Aizawa stood up straighter, seemingly having made a decision.
"So that's the case" he looked at them, all with confused expressions on their face "Stay here and behave, I'll be sending a teacher to substitute for me, I need to take care of something"
• • • • •
The door closed shut and for a minute everyone simply sat there with mixed shock and confusion.
"Um... what just happened?" Kaminari asked.
"Aizawa-sensei forgot who Deku-kun is?" Uraraka answered.
"A test maybe?" Yaoyorozu suggested.
"Yeah! But... Why was Midoriya dragged away in his scarf?" Kirishima asked.
"Everyone! I'm sure Aizawa-sensei has an explanation for all this! For now, we must go back to our seats and wait for the substitute!" Iida stood up and gestured to them with his hands as he spoke, although the author is getting tired of having to say he does robot arms every time he speaks so let's just collectively agree he does that every time he opens his mouth.
"Iida-kun" Uraraka piqued up.
"You're the only one not in your seat"
• • • • •
Aizawa and Midoriya sat in Nezu's office. The underground hero had sent All Might to watch the class since he was the only one available at that moment.
"And who might you be?" Aizawa had already removed his scarf from trapping the boy but he still kept a watchful eye on him.
It seemed to be the work of some quirk, a memory altering quirk perhaps since his students seemed to believe that he was their classmate and Shinsou was a student from the support department. Although if they planned to trick them why not include the teachers since surely they'll notice something off? Maybe the quirk had limits like the number of people or even location, since the students were all in the classroom. He worries where Shinsou could be now, did they kidnap him? Who was this boy they sent here? A spy was the most likely answer but...
Aizawa truly looked at Midoriya.
Yeah, he wasn't that suited. The kid was an open book, hell, he even cried on their way here. It was during his meeting with All Might, which must point to something. Currently, he was obviously nervous, very, very nervous.
He could just be faking it though, they didn't know anything about him other than his name, not even his quirk or background.
"This is Izuku Midoriya" Aizawa addressed the principal's question, who simply hummed. He most likely already knew everything Aizawa deduced, he had cameras all around the school after all and somehow managed to keep an eye on every single one of them.
"I see, Midoriya-kun, you - along with all of class 1-A - seem to believe that you belong in that class, however, looking at my records, I see no Izuku Midoriya here" the mouse-bear male smiled at him as he showed him a piece of paper which showed the students of Aizawa's class.
The teacher of said class observed the teen as he looked at the records, breath hitching as he opened his mouth to speak.
"B-but there must be some kind of mistake! Just yesterday Hizashi-sensei gave us a test and- you can look at that! And Shinsou isn't a part of the hero course yet! Although I'm sure you had plans to transfer him there still wasn't anything official last I checked not to mention it'd make no sense for my name to be completely swept off the record unless this is he work of some sort of quirk hat perhaps erases memories? But if that's the case then why would physical evidence of my existence be gone too unless they planned this but to do it all over night would be a feat, there has to be some way to restore their memories, maybe some sort of evedince although it can't be anything in UA since that's already gone then what about people that can say I belong here other than my classmates since they don't seem to believe- mom! "
Aizawa blinked at him as he heard the first audible word.
His mother?
"W-we can call my mother! She- she can tell you that I'm not lying!"
He scrambled for his phone but then realized he left it in his bag.
"Uh-uhm..."
"Here, you can use this" Nezu offered his own.
"Ah, t-thank you!"
"Put it on speaker" Aizawa stated to which the male nodded to.
He dialed her number and waited,
Beep--
Beep--
Beep--
Bee- the number you have dialed is una-
He hurriedly tried again.
The number you have dialed is-
And again.
The number you have-
And again.
The number-
And again.
The-
"No one's picking up" Aizawa raised a brow, was this some kind of last ditch attempt?
"No but she always-!"
"Midoriya-kun" Nezu interjected calmly, smile in place "Is your mother named Inko Midoriya?"
His eyes widened, a spark of hope glinting in his wide green eyes, he sat up straighter "Y-Yes!"
Nezu faced the laptop that he had taken out at some point towards them, showing a profile of said female.
There was a picture, a lady with long green hair similar to the one sitting with them right now, she had on a sweet smile.
There, it showed basic information about her.
Name: Inko Midoriya
Birthday: July 4
Gender: Female
Height: 160cm (5'3")
Hair color: Green
Eye color: Green
Quirk: Attraction of Small Objects
If possible, the teen's eyes shined even more "Y-Yes that's-!"
Status: Dead
• • • • •
It was like watching a time lapse of the sun set, really. One moment, it stood so bright, so high up in the sky, then, it got darker and darker until the only thing left was pitch black.
Simply put, Izuku Midoriya's eyes lost their shine.
He attempted to hold back his tears, but he has always been a crybaby.
"That can't be... just last weekend I went to visit her..." He muttered, liquid pearls running down his cheeks in silent agony.
"Midoriya-kun" Nezu's smile was softer now, comforting in his own way "She died ten years ago"
The dam broke free.
"No no no, she- she was alive " the tears wouldn't stop. He knew this wasn't true, he knew that he had a call with her just three days ago and that she was alive and healthy. He knew that, he knew that some petty records can't be true when he still freshly remembers her soft voice and comforting hugs. But it still hurt because the thought of that possibility-
Aizawa looked at the teen and for the first time didn't see some intruder who possibly played a hand in manipulating his students' memories, yes he was probably still very related to that but maybe - maybe he was just another victim whose mind got played with for the sick purpose of completing some villain's goal.
They let him cry for a while, it must hurt discovering your mother was actually dead when you held the illusion that she was still with you for roughly ten years.
"But no she- she is alive, I-I even have recent texts with her!" Midoriya insisted.
Poor kid.
"Very well then" They both looked towards the principal.
"Aizawa-san, would you kindly retrieve his bag from the room? I'll entertain Midoriya-kun while you do so"
Aizawa sighed but complied nonetheless, maybe he really was having conversations with his mother. If that was the case it's either someone is posing as her or she faked death somehow and no one's managed to figure out that she's alive. But those aren't the only mysteries of course, there's still the question of who is behind the strings of all this, where this Izuku kid came from and what he's been doing, how he managed to get into UA and who's quirk had the power to alter memories.
The man slumped as he headed towards the classroom. God why was life so troublesome?
• • • • •
Yeah, repeat that question.
Were Aizawa's thoughts as he opened the classroom door. Come to think of it, this whole thing started when he opened these doors didn't it? Maybe he should remove it, maybe that will prevent future troublesome situations.
Why the hell is All Might in his original form in front of his students?
• • • • •
Iida feels like no one respects him anymore.
Because he clearly said to stay in their seats and behave but everyone was already standing around with their friends, talking about what happened with Aizawa-sensei and as much as it interests him as well, said teacher gave out an instruction and they weren't following-
"I am here!"
They all looked towards the door where the hulking form of the former number one hero stood, half of them expected him to spit out blood right after, puffing back to his original skinny form. Most of them have gotten used to such an occurrence after the fight with All for One, but he never did.
He walked towards the middle of the room, maintaining his hero form.
Did he somehow get stronger? That's good, last they checked he could only maintain it for a few seconds.
"Good morning students! As you all know, your teacher has some things to settle, meanwhile, we will be learning about your latest topic - civilian rights!" Aizawa had filled him in, it seems that their memories have been tampered with, however, they seem rather similar from when last saw the class so he supposes he can still give them this test the man had said they needed to answer.
Most of them groaned, this was a boring topic.
"What about Midoriya? Is he alright?" Mina raised her hand while she asked.
"Ah yes, Aizawa-san is currently taking care of some things with him!" They think that he's their classmate so he supposes he can play along until everything is sorted out.
"Why was Aizawa-sensei acting like he didn't know him?" Another student - Toru - asked.
"Ah, well, that-" would it cause too much trouble if he told them? But they should know about this situation since it heavily involved them right?
The students looked at each other at All Might's silence, so something was wrong?
"Maybe he's just feeling strained from holding this form for too long?" said Kaminari.
"Yeah, why is he holding it for this long?" Sero looked at the blonde hero confused.
Iida seemed to be following their train of thought as he raised his hand to speak, not waiting to be called on anyways.
"All Might! It is fine if the information is private, we understand that pro - heroes must have a lot of things they are not allowed to disclose to students, so there is no need to force yourself to make an excuse! There is also no need to strain yourself maintaining your hero form! We understand that it is hard for your body and we will feel no less honored to have you here!"
All Might froze.
"H-Hero form? What are you talking about my boy! This is my body so it doesn't strain me one bit!" He tried to play off, maybe he was just misunderstanding Iida's words?
"It's fine if you revert back to your original form. We're already used to it, kero" Asui tilted her head to the side slightly, the world was already used to it so she wondered why the former hero was being so stubborn about keeping his from now.
All Might's smile strained "Original form?"
"Yeah, you know, the one where you're all skinny and spit out blood all the time?" Mina explained, dangling an arm as a visual reference of some sort.
Why were the teachers acting all weird today?
Just as she finished her little explanation, the blonde spit out blood from the surprise that they know.
And they seem to be used to it!?
His form poofed back to the said original form from the surprise.
"How- how do you know?" His eyes were wide as he wiped the blood from his mouth.
They seemed to be confused at the question. He should be he one confused!
Did the person who manipulated their memories include this form in their faked memories!?
That seems very likely, although that raises the question why and more importantly, how!?
Does that mean there's someone with an incredibly useful quirk running around with the knowledge of the weakness of the number one hero!?
"Well, because of the battle with All for One?" Kirishima was the one to answer.
"All for-!" He spit out blood once again.
They also know about All for one!?
How much did they know!?
The students, meanwhile had their own questions, like why was All Might so surprised at the mention of his original form and All for One?
"Everyone sure is acting weird today" Jiro muttered to herself, choosing to observe how this whole thing will play out.
"The teachers seem to have lapses in their memory?" Yaoyorozu stated to herself, "Could this be a villain's doing?" She faced her seatmate "What do you think Todoroki?"
Todoroki was observing everything with his signature monotone expression "Most likely, although the information they erased were interesting choices, why Midoriya? Why would they make it so that All Might believes that we don't know about him and his forms? And even if he believed he should hold the form, he still couldn't since it's physically impossible for him and yet just now he managed to hold it for some minutes" that was reminiscent of a ramble, god that was a ramble, is Midoriya rubbing off on him so much?
"Hm, that's true, not to mention Aizawa-sensei mentioned Shinsou for some reason. He didn't seem to believe us when we said that he was from class 1-C, and he believes that Midoriya does not belong here. It's possible that he believes that Shinsou is the one that should be here instead of Midoriya, for some reason" Yaoyorozu held her chin in thought, if this is what the teachers believe than what about everyone else? Class 1-B for example, do they also have lapses in their memory? The principal?
"Maybe this is a test from the teachers?" Satou piqued up beside Todoroki.
"Possibly"
Speaking of teachers, Aizawa has just come back to the scene, having just opened the door.
It seems this man has a talent for getting his message across without needing to utter a word because currently, everyone could tell he was giving All Might the 'explain' look.
"They somehow know" was the blonde's answer to the unsaid question. Aizawa's eye twitched.
"How "
All Might shrugged. The sleep deprived man rubbed his eyes with a groan.
"Right" he headed towards Midoriya's seat, taking his bag "They somehow know the number one hero's greatest weakness" he gave said hero a deadpan stare.
"Aizawa-san" All Might's face was grim, he wished that was all they knew but-
"They know so much more than that"
The man was tempted to ask, but he knows that when he does he'll be here for a long time.
"Right, of course they do" What kind of information did the villain put in their minds? How did said villain get the information, and if they seem to know so much then why did they make such a stupid move to send such an obvious and oblivious spy in UA?
"Aizawa-sensei! What about Deku-kun?" Uraraka asked.
He raised a brow at her "Deku?"
"Ah, I mean Midoriya-kun!" She corrected herself, seeing that her sensei doesn't know the green haired boy's nickname as well.
Aizawa wanted to ask about the nickname, but saved it for another time.
"We still have some business with him"
"What kind of business?" Toru asked.
"None of your business" damn nosy brats.
The invisible girl seemed to pout, although he didn't know how he was able to tell, he swore he could hear the mutter of "meanie" under her breath but paid it no mind.
Aizawa left the room and went back to the principal's office, entering on que.
"Here" he handed the bag to the green haired male. The teacher briefly wondered what they talked about, but seeing Nezu's smile, he wisely chose not to ask.
"T-Thank you..." Midoriya searched the contents for a few seconds until his hand found the needed device.
He took out his phone and opened his messages with his mother.
"Um, h-here" he handed it to Aizawa, who briefly scanned it, that is, until his eyes finally caught the date.
August 17 XXXX
"I think there's a mistake" was the first thing that he thought to say. Nezu raised a brow and Midoriya startled. He showed them the phone.
"It says here August 17, today is the 20th of July"
• • • • •
Jiro looked back at the two who were conversing, Todoroki and Yaoyorozu.
"As impossible as it may be, I think you're on to something there, Todoroki" she stated, causing the two to look at her.
"The sounds, I don't know how exactly, but they're different" she narrowed her eyes.
"It's not only Midoriya,
All of us don't belong here"
A/N:
Maybe I made it too intense for a Cannon!Deku meets Villain!Deku fanfiction? But I think it'd be more enjoyable if there was the tiniest pinch of plot there, not just this celestial being transporting them to a theatre, you know? Also, the dates, yeah - they're not accurate to cannon. At all. I just - made it up on the spot. Anyways, the build-up was too long, next chapter, they will finally know that this 1-A is not their 1-A, but it's not like one will immediately reason 'another dimension' as things that could possibly happen to them. Also, this is my original universe they were transported to so maybe I'll make a fanfiction about this Deku, the one in this universe?
PS: can someone help me with the names? I'm confused, does Nezu call Aizawa using -san or -kun? How do the students address the teachers? Present Mic-sensei or Hizashi-sensei?
