Chapter Thirteen - Spacewalker

"You taught me the courage of stars before you left. How light carries on endlessly, even after death."

Sleeping At Last - Saturn

"Finn." I called out, earning Clarke and Finn to both turn around at the sound of my voice.  I walked up to them, "We're leaving." I said in a low tone.

"What?" Clarke asked, confused.

"We have to get him out of here, Clarke."

"Where would we go?"

I grabbed Finn's arm, "Come on." I practically dragged him along with me so we could all start moving. "We're taking him to the drop ship, Clarke."

"No! You know that this is the safest place for him right now-"

"They're turning on him, Clarke! If we get out now, we can buy some time at the drop ship so we can figure out a plan to get him the hell away from here. Bellamy is already grabbing our gear and I suggest you do the same. We'll meet at Raven's gate in five, she's cutting the power again and if you're not there, I'm leaving without you."

Finn stopped in the middle of the crowded hallway. "Okay, but nobody's coming with me."

I turned around sharply. "You don't get that choice, Spacewalker. It's the way it has to be."

"We are surrounded by Grounders!" Clarke stepped in before Finn could reply.

"We split up and take the low ground like we usually do. Then we'll meet at the drop ship and come up with a strategy to get the target off his back."

"There he is!" Someone shouted from behind me, and all three of us turned to see who's voice it was.

The man from the crowd earlier had stepped up with a look of disgust on his face. An entire band of older men stepped forward behind him as if to provide support. The man pointed at Finn accusingly. "You are gonna get us killed-!"

The man moved to strike, but before he could, I took two steps and used my elbow to knock the man back. The man stumbled while holding his nose as crimson dripped down his hand.

"Back off or you're gonna get killed." I sneered as the man widened his eyes at the blood that came form his nostrils and I glanced over the other followers. "Anyone wanna be next?" I yelled out and I shook my head out of annoyance as I turned back around to face Finn and Clarke.

"Alright." I said breathlessly. "You and I are going to the dropship. This way I can keep you from getting stabbed in the back before I even get you there."

Clarke's breath shook as she turned around at Finn, "She's right. We have to go." She said quietly.

Clarke pushed on Finn's shoulder guiding him forwards as I followed behind them, covering their backs. We made it past the fence and Clarke, Bellamy, and Raven had all split up and though Bellamy tried to convince that I should be split from Finn too, I protested his idea. Finn and I walked through the forest, while I kept my sword hot. I saw Finn glance at me a few times with a troubled look on his face.

"You're putting an awful lot of effort into this." Finn muttered from beside me.

I smiled slightly, but never turned my head. "Remember the first day we came down here, and you were being an idiot with your seat belt off while we were landing. I saved your life."

Finn cracked a small smile at the memory. "I wouldn't forget that, Bambi." Finn paused for a second, looking down at the ground. "I've noticed that you put your own life in front of others, why is that?"

This time I turned my head to glance at him. "We don't need to talk about my life, Finn."

"If I'm going to die, I want to know something about the famous Dakota Kane."

I chuckled. "Maybe because I'm not scared of dying. If I'm going to die, I want to die protecting somebody. I want to die knowing that I didn't run the other way like a coward and get stabbed in the back."

Finn looked at me understandingly, he opened his mouth to speak but before he could, there was shuffling from a bush, causing me to spin at the direction it came from. I instantly relaxed when Clarke's blonde hair came into view.

"Hey," Clarke whispered as she followed along side us. "See anything?"

"I thought we were splitting up," Finn replied, concerned.

Clarke scoffed. "Not a chance."

I snorted. "Blondie here probably thinks I'll kill you, or maybe it's because she's so thick headed-"

"Is there a problem with me tagging along, Dakota?" Clarke shot back.

"Yeah actually, there is." I stopped in front of her and Finn backed me up almost instantly. "Don't act all tough around me, I can easily kick your ass." I warned her, earing me a cold glare.

Upon having a distraction, A grounder came out of nowhere. I turned around just in time to see him jumping from the small hill. I rolled out of the way of his axe, and Clarke was the one to get hit when he hit her with his weapon to the head, knocking her unconscious. Clarke ended up knocking into Finn on the way down, which ended up him falling as well.

I faced the Grounder as he spun around, slicing his blade into the air. I backed up, but not fast enough as the blade cut the side of my stomach. I hunched over as I yelped out, and got kicked in the face in result. Finn engaged in combat with the Grounder who tried to grab him. I struggled to get to my feet and saw that the Grounder came to a sharp, cold stop when he could see the barrel of a gun pointed at his face.

"I don't want to shoot you!" Finn shouted, his hands shaking. "Go! Get out of here!"

The Grounder fled and Finn set down the weapon in his hands and let out a sigh of relied as he watched the Grounder flee off into the woods. I cried out in pain as I lifted myself to my feet, causing Finn to shoot up and look at me.

"No," Finn mumbled fearfully. "Oh, god, Bambi.." Finn's eyes darted to the red moisture soaking my shirt.

I shook him off with a wave of my hand. "I'm fine." I looked down at Clarke. "Carry her, and let's go."

***

Finn carried Clarke all the way to the drop ship and Dakota held open the cover of the door so that Finn could bring Clarke through to set her down. Upon their arrival, Bellamy rushed forward, seeing the blonde unconscious, not aware of Dakota's worsened injury.

"What happened?" Bellamy asked as his eyes went wide.

"Grounder," Finn grunted. "Hit her on the head."

"Put her here," Murphy guided Finn to set Clarke down on a pile of blankets they had moved into the dropship when the virus happened in the camp.

Bellamy bent down and shook his head "I need a.. a bandage, a rag, anything!"

"Got it."

"Hold her head. Clarke, can you hear me? Clarke?" Bellamy called out in panic and the blonde stirred, causing Bellamy to sigh out in relief realizing that she would be okay. "You're going to be fine. You just need rest."

Clarke groaned or mumbled something indistinct, Bellamy wasn't exactly sure, but he didn't care. He knew she was alive and that was the important thing. Bellamy got up from helping Clarke, looking over at Finn and Raven who was in mid-discussion. He noticed that Dakota wasn't at their side, she wasn't here at all. It was strange because he swore he saw her come in.

"Where's Dakota?" Bellamy asked, interrupting Finn and Raven. They both looked at him, realizing that she was missing.

Suddenly, they heard a crash on the upper level of the drop ship. It took a second for Bellamy to run for the ladder as he looked at Finn's concerned face, but when he got up there, Dakota was on the floor, convulsing. There was foam coming out of her mouth and her eyes were rolled back into her head. Bellamy rushed to her side with no hesitation and knelt down beside her, picking her up in his arms.

"Dakota? Dakota!"

He didn't hear Finn and Raven come up the ladder behind him. Raven's eyes widen at the familiar sight and she gasped on realization. "No, No.. that's the poison, Bellamy!"

"Poison?" Bellamy growled. "What Poison?"

"The one that was on the dagger that Lincoln stabbed me with and Dakota cut her hand after." Finn filled in for Raven when she couldn't find the words. "The.. The antidote!" Finn yelled out, turning to Raven. "We have more of it, right? We didn't give it back."

"Find it!" Bellamy snapped while trying to get Dakota still. Raven nodded and moved to the ladder, where she climbed down to find the antidote. Just when Raven left, a moment later, Dakota suddenly stopped thrashing, her entire body going limp.

Bellamy shook her. "Dakota? Dakota!" He held her face as Finn rushed over to Bellamy's side.

"She's not breathing.." Finn shook his head.

"What the hell happened to her?" Bellamy demanded, looking up at him Finn.

Finn turned back around, "She got hit by a Grounder and she was bleeding." Finn spoke while pointing down to her blood soaked shirt.

Bellamy's hands went down to lift up her shirt, showing off a gruesome wound that stretched from the middle of her belly button to the left side of her hip. Raven opened the latch, tossing in a little jar before Bellamy could respond.

"I got it." Raven spoke as she climbed the ladder.

Finn grabbed the little vial and tossed it over to Bellamy who unscrewed the lid and tossed it aside. The vial was almost empty, and he prayed that this would be enough. Finn helped lift Dakota's head up and Bellamy slowly put the vial to her lips. When it was empty, he tossed it aside. "Come on, Kane.. Where's that fire?" Bellamy whispered.

"We need to stitch her up," Finn noted her bleeding wound, which was fairly deep, but not deep enough that it caused severe damage. "Is Clarke awake?"

Raven shook her head slightly. "No, she's not. But I saw her stitch you up, I can do it."

***

"They're not moving any closer." I heard Murphy's voice as I came into a more conscious state.

"They're staying out of range. Probably waiting until it's dark." Bellamy moved back inside of the drop ship and sighed.

Murphy turned around, "If we hit them now, at least we take them by surprise." Murphy spoke and that's when his eyes locked on mine.

I saw a wave of relief wash over his face as he left his position at the corner of the door.

Bellamy instantly turned around. "Hey, what are you-" Bellamy snapped.

"Murphy?" I croaked out when he kneeled down beside me and tucked away a stray hair from my face.

"Good to have you back, Kane." He smiled and Bellamy pushed past him with a stern look on his face as he briefly glanced over at Murphy before kneeling down beside me too.

I groaned as I forced myself up into a sitting position. "Does anyone have any water?"

Clarke came over with a canteen in her hand. "We don't even know how many of them are out there," Clarke spoke as she handed me the canteen.

I smiled and unscrewed the lid. "I'm not hearing any better ideas, Clarke." Murphy spoke again.

"We'll give them something." Raven paced back and forth.

Bellamy looked back at Raven, "All they want is Finn."

"Finn wasn't the only one at the village." Everyone looked over at Raven as soon as she spoke.

Clarke widened her eyes. "What are you talking about?"

Bellamy got up from kneeling beside me, "Raven, hold on.." Bellamy scowled.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Raven I came here to protect him, you were the one who wanted me to come. You-" Realisation seemed to hit Murphy. "That's why you wanted me to come alone.."

"Enough grounder's saw him at the village. They'd believe he was the shooter."

"Sick bitch." Murphy shook his head.

"Raven, you don't mean this-"

"You know what they do to people-"

"They want a murderer, we'll give them one." Raven's face twisted as she spoke.

Everyone was so involved in the spur of the argument that they haven't seen me get up from my spot to stand beside Murphy when Raven raised her gun, aiming it at Murphy. "Drop your gun."

"You shoot that gun, and I'll slice your head off before the bullet even reaches him." I sneered, leaning up against Murphy's shoulder.

"Go to hell Raven." Murphy spat.

"Put it down Raven. Like it or not, he's one of us."

"I won't hesitate," I said raising my sword while my other arm shielded my stomach.

"Stop! Stop!" Finn stood in front of both of us, forcing Raven to drop her weapon as I lowered mine. "They've got us surrounded, the only thing we can do is stay and defend this place."

"I'm with you." Bellamy, Clarke, and Raven nodded.

"Murphy?"

"Yeah."

"Go upstairs, watch the rear." He continues. "I'll take the lower level. You three, take the front gate." I tilt my head a little when he didn't mention my positon.

"I'll stay with Finn." I suggest and they nod. Everyone goes to where they are assigned. When most of them cleared out, Raven turned to Finn.

"Hey. We got this," She told him firmly. Finn reached forward and pulled her into a hug, and instantly I knew what he was doing.

"May we meet again," He whispered against her shoulder.

Raven pulled away from him with a confused expression. "We will."

"Yeah," He agreed half-heartedly. Raven looked at him one last time before taking her gun and walked outside after Bellamy. I walked over to the hatch on the lower level and opened it to climb inside.

"Be careful," I heard Finn speak.

Clarke let out a shaky breath. "Y-you too."

As soon as Finn got to the lower level of the drop ship, I look down at him. "What are you doing?" I ask him and in return, he gives me a confused expression. I rolled my eyes, "Don't play stupid, Finn."

"Take care of them.. Both of them."

I nod slightly with a saddened look on my face. "Finn.. you don't have to do this.."

"If I don't, I'll be killing all of you. I do have to do this." He nods at me. "May we meet again." He tells me as he disappears under the floor.

After a few moments of me standing in silence, I turn to hear noises coming from outside the drop ship, and I limp out. Finn steps out and raises his hands in surrender as Clarke and Raven scream for him. The Grounders quickly come up from behind him and grab him, dragging him away.

Night took over as we returned from the drop ship. No one dared to speak after what Finn had done, and maybe it was because they were still shocked from what happened. Bellamy helped me walk most of the way.

Everyone was gathered by the gates, watching the Grounders light up torches.

"What is that?" Raven asked Clarke.

Clarke swallowed, "It's for Finn.. They want us to watch."

"We're gonna get him. We'll get in close and we'll hit them hard." Bellamy tries when he sees my expression.

"Son... there's thousands of them. Even if we could kill hundreds, they'd wipe out this camp and your friend would die."

"We have to do something," I barked at my father, turning to him. He looked me over with a pitiful look. "You taught me that we can't give up when something get's tough.. Please.. we have to try." Marcus looked down at me with sorrow in his eyes, knowing that this was out of our hands now.

"Abby, we have to do something." Raven begs the Chancellor and when Abby doesn't respond, Clarke walks over to the opening in the fence.

"What are you doing?" Raven questions Clarke.

"I'm gonna talk to the commander."

I turned to Clarke. "What will you say?"

"I don't know!"

"Clarke!" I heard Raven's voice from behind me and I turned my head to watch her rush up to us. Raven reached into her pocket and nodded at the blonde. "Give me your hand."

Clarke looked at her, confused and Raven took her hand and slid something up her sleeve. In the dim light, I saw a hint of silver and knew that Raven had given her a blade.

"If she won't let him go, kill her. Things will go crazy and we'll grab you and Finn." Clarke was quiet, but Raven stressed further. "Clarke, you have to help him. I owe him my life."

I watched as Clarke said nothing and she turned around to look at Bellamy as he opened the gate for her and allowed her to leave. Raven walked over to the crowd, and Bellamy grabbed my hand as we walked over together.

"Come on, Clarke. Do it." Raven whispers. I shake my head at her, if she kills her, they kill all of us.

Clarke walks over to Finn who is now tied to the wooden pole. "What is she doing?"

I see Clarke move in to hug him and when she pulled away, Finn's head was slouched, and his shirt was soaked in blood. My jaw drops at the sight and I turn to bury my face is Bellamy's chest.

All that was heard throughout the crowd was Raven's screams.

A/N: This episode was always so emotional for me, I loved Finn's character. I won't deny that I'm in tears right now, because of writing this lol. I hope you guys liked the long chapter, and if you did, comment down below, I love reading them! (:
