"What can we do to help him?" Octavia spoke up after a long silence. Clarke and Finn went off to Camp Jaha for Abby. Octavia was with Nyko and Bellamy stood by Lincoln's side.
Nyko's stares made me uncomfortable as he was examining me from the corner of his eye. I spoke up. "Nothing but keep him comfortable." I looked over at Octavia who was looking down at Lincoln with sadness.
I heard the creak of metal and glanced over to see the hatch opening and Finn appeared along with Abby.
"Oh thank god. Where's Clarke?" Octavia asked Finn as he climbed into the room.
"Trying to stop a war." He replied before Abby climbed up to the level. Abby walked over to Octavia, who was trying to clean all the blood off of Lincoln while we waited for someone to return. She bent down at Octavia's side and leaned forward, using two fingers to lift Lincoln's eyelid.
"Pupils are unresponsive. Tie off his arm," Abby ordered Octavia, who didn't hesitate to do what she asked. Abby began to prep a needle she brought with her and looked up at Octavia with a nod. "Thanks to the supplies your brother found, Lincoln might have a chance."
"What's that?" Octavia asked.
"It's to bring down his fever." Abby bent down and injected the needle into his arm, but as she did, Lincoln began to thrash back and forth, screaming out loudly and convulsing from the detox. Suddenly, he stopped, and Abby put her hands on Lincoln's neck.
"What's happening? Why isn't it working?" Octavia demanded.
"His heart stopped." Abby answered as she started heart compressions rapidly. She looked up and stopped Nyko, who was standing above Lincoln as if ready to step in.
"You're their healer?" Abby looked up. "Tilt his head back. Pull his chin down to open his airway."
Nyko did as she wanted, but nothing was happening. Everyone fell silent as Abby kept praying, mumbling to herself to Lincoln to respond positively. She kept compressing and nothing happened and then I realized that it was too late. I watched as Abby stopped.
"You're stopping," Octavia observed nervously. "What's wrong?"
"I'm sorry. He's gone."
"No, it's not possible. You're wrong!" She screamed before shoving Abby out of the way, taking her place with chest compressions.
"Octavia.." Bellamy stepped in, kneeling down as he watched her cry, trying to maintain a strong outlook. I felt my chest tighten, and my own tears threatening to come out as I turned my back.
The hatch opened behind us but we didn't notice until Clarke climbed onto the level with the Grounders following behind her. I turned around the second the air filled with silence, and saw two women and a man enter the level, eyes wide as they stared at Lincoln's body and Octavia crying over it. I glanced at all of them, my eyes darting over everyone in the room. I caught Clarke's glance as she moved her vision towards the weapons. I glanced over at Bellamy who was reaching for his rifle slowly. The youngest of the two females gave the older one a slight nod.
"I'll kill them all." She hissed, pulling her sword out and pointing it at Abby who grabbed a lashing baton.
Bellamy grabbed his rifle quickly as I reached behind my back and pointed my sword at the younger female, lifting my head at her.
"Please," Clarke begged, stepping forward. "You don't have to do this."
"You lied," The commander sneered. "And your out of time."
Clarke tried to come up with a response, but she couldn't. Words were failing her, and everyone became silent as Abby turned towards Lincoln quickly and slammed the electrical wand onto Lincoln's chest in an attempt to shock his heart back. Nothing happened.
"Hit him again," Clarke told her mother. Abby did so, putting the electrical; want onto Lincoln's chest for a second time, causing him to arch his back and finally gasp back to life. Everyone surrounding them widen their eyes at the miracle and Octavia, who had been sitting beside Lincoln the entire time, went to find his eyes.
"Lincoln?"
"Octavia.." Lincoln breathed out softly, causing her to let out a sigh of relief.

Clarke had disappeared with the Commander to discuss the terms of their truce while Bellamy was on guard duty, and Octavia was occupied with Lincoln. I sat by the fire in the middle of the camp, sharping my sword.
"You're looking more grounder by the second." A smug voice called out and I immediately smiled. I looked up from my sword and watched as Murphy sat down beside me, looking me up and down.
"Is that a bad thing?" I questioned him, raising my eyebrow.
Murphy smiled as he looked down at the glistening flames. "No.." He admitted. "It suits you.."
My eyebrow raised again at the unsure tone of his voice and right then I knew he had something on his mind. "If you have something to say, John. Tell me."
Murphy met my eyes for a second when a small frown appeared on his face. "You're different." He shrugged his shoulders. "You're not the same person you were on the Ark."
I pursed my lips at his confession and met his gaze once more. "The things that we have all been through, how can any of us be the same after that?"
Murphy's mouth twitched. "Yeah. I guess you're right."
I smiled over at him and when he didn't meet my gaze, I scooted closer to him and laid my head on his shoulder. His head leaned slightly to look down at me and his arm came around to bring me closer towards him.
"We have a strange relationship," I pointed out after a minute of silence.
Murphy snickered. "I wouldn't have it any other way, Kota-Bear."
I pushed my way out of his arms. "Don't even go there, smurf." I wiggled my eyebrows at him when he punched my arm playfully and I let out a small laugh.
Murphy stopped laughing as voices filled the air and a familiar flow of a fiery torch was coming towards us. "What the hell is that?" He pointed out making me turn around and grip my sword.
My eyes squinted near the gate. "It might be Clarke." I got up off the log and faced him. "It's good that after all this time, I can still turn to you when I need you."
Murphy stood up and nodded. "Don't be getting soft on me now, Dakota." He smiled slightly, but it was soon replaced with his famous smirk that I knew so well. "Go see what she wants, thanks for the talk."
I smiled and pecked his cheek quickly before I began to walk towards the gate, where Bellamy stood with his gun raised. "Is it Clarke?"
"I think so." Bellamy lowered his hun and spoke to the people surrounding him. "Hold your fire! She's back!"
The gates were pulled open and I immediately noticed the satisfied expression that I was expecting to be on Clarke's face was missing, and instead her face was taunt with tension and she seemed uneasy.
Finn appeared, racing towards Clarke. "You okay?" He asked breathless.
"Shut the gate!" Clarke turned around quickly, and the soldiers did what she asked. "You can't be out here." Clarke grabbed his wrist and practically dragged him away with Bellamy and I following behind.
Clarke found her way into her mom's arms but her eyes were still darting around nervously. "What did she say? Is there a chance for a truce?" Abby questioned as Raven appeared, looking wary.
"Y-Yes," Clarke confirmed.
But the look on her face had me in question as I met Finn's eyes briefly. "What's wrong?" I questioned.
"They want you." The words spilled out of her mouth before she could even filter them. "If we want a truce, we have to give them Finn," She finished.
People whispered in the crowd, and I felt my heart sink.
"What the hell are you talking about?" I heard Raven ask as more people started to push in towards us.
"That's their offer," Clarke replied.
"That's not an offer-"
"It's a punishment," Finn concluded in a monotone. "For what happened at the village. Blood for blood."
"That's insane," Bellamy muttered behind Clarke.
"If we refuse?" Abby asked.
"They attack."
"Say we give him up!" Someone voice broke out from the crowd that were surrounding us.
"Get rid of him!" Another added.
"Easy, people!" Major Bryne tried to rally the citizens behind her, attempting to push them back with her hand and keep them quiet.
One man stepped up and looked at all of us with narrowed eyes. "Give him to the Grounders!" He demanded darkly.
"Back off!" Raven pushed the man back forcefully. Clarke grabbed her, tugging her away while Bellamy held the man back from striking.
"Hey Raven, Raven. Raven, listen to me. Nothing is going to happen to him. I promise, okay?" Clarke tried to calm Raven down, and it seemed to work as she nodded.
"Stay the hell behind me," I commanded Finn, keeping a hand in front of his body to shield him away from the riot that was starting to form around us.
Another man stepped out of the shadows and pointed a finger to Finn. "I'm not dying for him! Spacewalker burned three months of oxygen from the Ark! He should've floated a long time ago! Throw him out!"
"Back off!" Raven shouted as she fought her way out of Clarke's grasp and punched the accusing man in the face.
I saw Raven hit Major Bryne in the nose but before she had a chance to react, two guards restrained Raven as she kicked at them. Clarke and I watched as Raven was dragged away and we all listened to the screaming citizens around us, begging us to sacrifice Finn to save themselves.
Eventually the angry crowd dispersed after a stern warning from Abby that no one was to lay a hand on Finn. Clarke, Abby, Bryne, and Bellamy had already begun strategizing and planning in the midst of the chaos.
I found myself walking along side Murphy, walking to where Finn had disappeared behind a piece of scrap metal with a pensive look on his face. His eyes were glassy and unfocused.
"Hey, man. Bryne actually gave me a gun, I guess we really are screwed, huh?" Finn didn't reply to Murphy's obvious attempt at lightening the mood.
Murphy sighed. "Look, we kicked their asses last time, we'll do it again."
"A lot of people died last time." Finn shot back.
"Hey, we're reinforcing all our defences." Bellamy and Clarke had appeared, Clarke looking more hopeful than she had earlier. "Doubles on the perimeter, no ones getting past that wire."
"I'll see where they're thin." Finn suggested.
"No." Bellamy denied immediately. "You should head inside, B corridor will be easier to defend if it comes to that."
Finn frowned. "I'm not gonna hide."
"Right now, we have to think about keeping you safe. I'm going to talk to Lincoln." Clarke tried to smile.
"Come on." Bellamy gestured for Finn to follow him, and after a moment of hesitation, he did. "You too, Short-stack." Bellamy looked back at me and I huffed, getting up from beside Murphy to follow.
"Hey. Any orders for me, princess?" Murphy stood up, making his presence known to Clarke who was purposely ignoring him.
"Stay away from me." Clarke ordered to which I frowned.
"Just trying to be helpful."
"You were with him at the village." Clarke stated.
"I tried to stop him." Murphy reminded Clarke, not liking what the blonde was implying.
"Not hard enough." Clarke snapped back viciously.
"Hey!" I snapped over at Clarke, reminding her of my presence. "If you need to be reminded, Finn killed them for you." I sneered which made Clarke's glare turn towards me.
"Of course, you'd take his side." She replied in a monotone.
"Maybe because he's right for once, Clarke." I pointed out. "And sometimes you need to be reminded to get off your fucking high horse that you've put yourself upon-"
"Give it up, Kota. I'll never be anything but a criminal to them. Everything will always be my fault." Murphy interrupted me from completing my sentence.
"We're all criminals Murphy." I managed to smile slightly.
A/N: I honestly can't wait to start writing Season 3, and perhaps that has something to do with the already finished cover for this book's sequel. Anyways, I hope you guys like the chapter, and if you did vote and leave a comment down below. They inspire me to write and I love reading them. :)
Ps. Can we all just take a minute to swoon over this gif of Finn. Ugh.
