FOURTY-NINE
OOOH we're SO CLOSE to the fifty chapters mark!!!!
I don't know where Naya is in this story anymore so long story short she and Grian were taken by watchers, grian escaped without anyone (even the hermits) knowing and now Naya is in the Watcher building. Somehow. Idk.
here we go...
Naya peeked around yet another corner. Silence... and yet... she couldn't shake off the feeling that there was... something... something important here, in this building. She felt what a mother bird would feel towards her young- a longing to be with them every second of the day. But now the bird in Naya's heart was searching for that one thing that it needed to keep safe.
Naya spotted a small, empty vase and picked it up, hugging it to her chest. The feeling of a mother bird was still there, flapping as frantically as before.
"Zolith went to go tell him that they both escaped. Zolith himself didn't look very pleased about it though..." The phrase was spoken in galatic, but Naya was able to translate it easily. She hid under a short table and watched the two Watchers pass by.
After a few moments of hesitation, the ex-watcher poked her head out from under the table and continued to sneak down the hallway.
"Well, well, well..." Naya froze. She turned around quickly, wings flaring up automatically behind her.
"What do we have here? The runaway Watchling returning home? How sweet..." The speaker was one of the most dangerous and manipulative Watchers, Saturn. They twirled a peice of their sandy-gold coloured hair and grinned at Naya, who flared her feathers in rage and fear.
"This was never my home," Naya retorted, using galactic to communicate. "You all made me think it was!"
The grin on Saturn's face dropped into a frown. "ʖᔑ↸∴𝙹∷↸! We all cared for you, gave you your name and life. Before us, you were nothing! Just a small, homeless street rat with nothing to your name!"
"At least I wasn't manipulated by you fools back then!" Naya snarled, glaring at Saturn. The older Watcher had made the void look so welcoming and homely- but once you spent what felt like decades in it? Not so much.
"Fine. Be like this. If I can't convince you to be your true Watcher form..." Saturn snapped their fingers and a small birdcage appeared behind them. The door creaked open and Naya saw it- the thing she was longing, curled up in a little, skulk-covered, feathery ball.
"...Maybe your best friend can."
