Chapter 3
Treasa is shocked when Rienna passes her threshold without any hesitation and closes the door behind her. The girl knows what she wants, which might be a good thing as much as it would not. Who knows, though?
The two girls sit at the couch and stare intensely at each other. Even though they're not related, they look so similar, like sisters. Sometimes Treasa would tell strangers (or even Minka, to tease her) that she and Rienna are sisters. Of course, they'd believe that. Especially considering that she's so different from Caroline, starting from looks and then moving on to personality.
There's no time for bantering, though. Treasa must unravel her plan quickly before Caroline comes back home. The youngest of the Minnett sisters isn't very fond of Rienna; actually, she called her a slut once when she showed off at the swimming pool and almost made out with Treasa. Yeah, having to deal with her sister's friends isn't easy for poor Caroline.
Still, Treasa wants to make sure that Caroline not only has a party, but also makes friends. She has never seen her younger sister in good terms with anyone. She has never heard her call anyone her friend. She has always hoped that she'd confide to someone, only to see her hopes shattered inevitably.
In other words, she believes that a party is a good way to make Caroline stop being a loner.
The awkward silence that has since fallen, lost in the girls' gaze, prompts Treasa to clear her throat and explain, "Okay, Rienna, I actually want to ask you a favor. I promise, I'll repay you. The point is, I'd like you to put together a little surprise for Caroline. A sort of party, you know."
Rienna cuts her off. "You had me at party. Say no more. I'm in," she declares, grinning widely. Treasa is shocked, yet she shouldn't. Rienna is quite easy to convince and please, especially when it comes to parties. However, she has just promised that she'll pay her back.
This is why she's slowly unbuttoning the other girl's shirt. As she's done, she takes it off with the same slow movements, showing off her best grin yet. After then, Rienna suggests, "Shall we take it upstairs? I mean, I wouldn't like your sister to ruin our little surprise, do you think?"
Treasa shakes her head, then picks up her partner's shirt and leads her upstairs. This late afternoon is going to be really long, and this is only the beginning.

Caroline is alone in the park, watching the ducks that are swimming in the small lake and are about to go back to their nests to sleep. She, however, doesn't feel like going home yet. She needs air, she needs to find a place where she's truly appreciated and doesn't have to feel the pressure of having to comply to what Treasa says. She might be a loving older sister, but sometimes she's quite overbearing and a little selfish.
She's sitting at a bench opposite the lake, occasionally turning her gaze to the setting sun. 'It's late, maybe I should check on Treasa to see what she's doing! Oh, come on, Caroline, you're not supposed to take care of her bullshit! She's a grown-up adult! It's not her fault if she's so irresponsible!'
Caroline's attempts to repress her thoughts fail; still, she doesn't feel like calling her sister at home. She wants to be her true self and admire the beauty of the sights surrounding her. She doesn't want to be linked to Treasa anymore. She needs some room for herself, to discover who she truly is and, why not, even find true love.
Something she has stopped believing in since she caught Jack, her ex-boyfriend, with another girl, and dumped her to stay with her new lover. Speaking of the Devil, he casually strolls by, hand in hand with his new girlfriend. She is petite, with long, dark waves that flow gently on her shoulders, a tan complexion and nice curves. He is not very tall but is well-built, has light blonde hair and an intimidating look plastered on his face.
The two of them pass Caroline and would leave undisturbed, but the girl comments, "Look, Jack. Isn't that girl your ex? She looks so lonely. Why don't you say her hello?" Caroline wishes that she had shut up, given that she's already got on her nerves. But now what's done is done. The two of them are bound to face each other, and there's no other solution.
"Evangeline, dear, don't you think you'd better focus on me and not that midge?" The way Jack pronounces those words makes Caroline want to throw up. How can he be so disrespectful, once again? How can he keep treating her like a piece of scum even though they finally parted ways? Why does he have to be so rude to his current girlfriend, too?
Those questions, even though they're whirling in Caroline's mind, are not her main thoughts as she tries to push them back. Instead, she wonders, 'So, the girl's name is Evangeline. Is she happy with him? What does she find in him? When did they get together? Does she know him well?'
By the time the couple leaves, Caroline is alone again. Just as she wanted. She has just missed the sunset, but this doesn't mean that she wants to go home either. Still, she's been at the park for hours, so she decides to leave. She turns her back to stare at its peaceful sights one last time before actually moving forward and leaving.

Treasa and Rienna are lying on the former's bed. The creases on the sheets, their clothes scattered randomly on the floor, the window still open, the door closed. It looks like someone is watching them and no-one is at the same time. Even though night has already fallen, the time for passion isn't over yet.
The two women's bodies are laced onto each other, with Rienna's head lying on Treasa's chest. They won't leave each other alone, not even let the fire of passion and lust die inside them. They're bound by the law of attraction.
Treasa quivers her lips as Rienna strokes her head. "You know, we could stay like this all night or move on, and you know what I mean," says the latter, making Treasa stand up and head towards the door. The older girl opens the door, much to Rienna's relief.
"Why should we do this behind closed doors? It's so much more fun this way!" points out Treasa, lying back on the bed and running her fingers through Rienna's hair. "This is going to be a lot of fun, I promise."
"Then don't say another word and kiss me, you fool." Rienna's resolute tone is enough for Treasa to obey and pressing her lips on her partner's neck. The way she kisses it gives the other girl the goosebumps.
When their lips lock onto each other, there's no way to unlock them. Or, at least, not now.
