Chara was finally trying to walk again. He would take off his cast at times and would get Cross to balance on. Right now they're in the living room
" O-Ow ow OW!"
" Sorry ,  Do we need to stop today ?"
" Yeah , sorry I wasted your time..."
" Hey, no, you wanting to try and walk again is huge progress! And you're better now and that's what's important" Cross hugged his marshmallow.
" T-Thank you ...Sorry I need to be reassured more"
"Don't worry about it darling. How about instead of saying "you're sorry" you say " thank you for reassuring me". I'm not trying to be rude at all but by not saying your sorry, I feel like that would help."
Chara nodded " okay.....but do you think I look bigger?"
" what do you mean?"
" Since I've been laying around more, I-I just feel fatter"
Cross made a face that said confusion and worry. He eyed him for a bit before picking him up. Chara squirmed but Cross dropped him on the bed. Cross laid by him.
" Really?"
Chara looked anxious. Cross then held Chara's head to his chest. He gave a quick kiss and cuddled him.
" I've always wondered why you were attracted to my purple fatass"
" H-HEY! Don't call yourself like that.."
" Why?"
" Because you're talking about my fiancé like that"
" And that's why I don't like you talking about yourself like that too"
Chara's eyes softened and he purred into Cross' chest. Cross felt Chara's hair stroking it.
" You  haven't gotten thicker but still satisfying " Cross squeezed Chara's thighs playfully.
"H-Hey!" Chara giggled.
" And also I wouldn't care if you gained weight. You would still be handsome definitely. Marshmallows are supposed to be squishy too" Cross winked.
Chara hid his face in the blankets. " T-Thank you"
" Also speaking of sizes, What size shirt do you wear?
" Hmm?"Chara looks up.
" Or ...well I'm just thinking about what we're going to wear at the wedding"
" Oh" Chara blushed " I'm an adult medium."
" Okay ,...Do you care.." Cross trailed off.
" Care about what ?"
" Would it be fine if I was in the dress?" Cross laughed blushing.
" Oh , I don't care! You would look great in a dress :p"
" Aww, thank you ...I've thought about that for awhile."
" Its fine" Chara smiled. There was then a beep from his phone. Chara opened his phone and saw it was an email. Chara stared at the email. His face said ;Shocked, mad, and upset. Cross leaned in but Chara slammed down his phone before he could see the problem.
" W-What's wrong Chara?"
Chara just groaned and went into Cross' chest. Cross patted his head.
" Cross..."
" Yeah?"
" Fuck this stupid state!!" Chara growled and then screamed into Cross' chest.
Cross sat in silence for a bit.
" T-They...they...won't let us get married...I had emailed this government branch that controls marriage papers and ...because not one of us is female we can't even sign the papers! " Chara slightly cried and yelled into Cross' chest again.

Their state had been on the fence for gay marriage. Sometimes they would say it's okay and sometimes they said it's disgusting . The place where they lived was half and half on the issue. They didn't accept it for now. Chara sniffled.
" Hey, Hey, Hey ....Chara ... This won't be the end and ...we can look at other cities. Travel a bit!" Cross smiled softly.
" Yeah ...sorr-...I mean thank you for putting up for me"
" Its fine"
There was then another beep from Chara's phone. He slowly opened the phone but it was from someone else. Chara's face un tensed and he smiled. He happily tapped away.
" Who is it?"
" My mom wants to meet me at the cafe a few blocks away later "
" Well, alright ....Are you going over there by yourself?"
" No , She'll come walk with me...Are you worried about me?"
" Yeah , after everything"
" I'll be fine Cross" Chara made a soft boy smile slightly tilting his head.
" Now , Can I have my crutches so I can go pee?"
They both softly chuckled and he got them.
===Le time skip===
There was a gentle knock on the door and Cross opened it.
Jakei was there and they made happy small talk.
Chara walked out the door with her and they waved bye.
J: How have things been for the two of you ?
C: Quite well actually! Everything has been good. Oh! I never told you..
J: Tell me what?
C: I've started selling some of my art! I'm taking commissions right now. We have another thing to talk about together. :3
His mom smiled with her eyes slightly sparkling.
J: That's nice, if you want I could tell you a few tips.
C: Yeah , thank you * he slightly purred*
They arrived in the cafe . There wasn't many people there at the time.
They ordered their drinks and sat down at a small table near a huge window.
" So Mom, why did you want to talk to me?" Chara glanced out the window.
" Well I definitely needed to tell you about an important event"
" How crucial is it ?"
His mom slightly blushed and sweated" Very".
" A-And I'm sorry ..but I never told you I started dating a guy named 'Nyx' "
Chara's eyes widened " How long ?"
" For a about a year and a half...Are you mad at me?"
He was silent for a bit just staring at her. Jakei felt a bid of dread.
" Why would I be mad??? I'm happy you've put the past aside and started dating!" Chara had the purest smile. Almost to ear to ear.
" I definitely want you to feel happy! Especially after my dad ...."
" Well it's okay" Jakei put a hand over her sons shoulder. " We just weren't the best for each other is all"
" B-But mom...XGaster was so toxic to you ...and I want you happy..."
" Well I promise that this guy is the one and you'll get to meet him. He's actually the guy helping me with tracks for my animations. So we've known each other for a long time. He's such a dork" She smiled and meant that last part in a good way.
" He's a bit taller than me, has a fuzzy beard, and he'll never admit he loves cuddles."
Jakei gave a brief description.
" Also-"
The barista called out their drinks.
" I'll go get those" she got up and headed there.
As she was up Chara bounced this idea in his head. He might have met him once on a business trip but doesn't fully remember it.
She came back and sat down again. Chara found she looked guilty about something.
" Mom" Chara looked at her in the eye and she looked up.
" I also need to tell you something too..."
She became focused again " What is it son?"
" Im -I'm...getting married"
She slightly blushed and looked worried
" What's wrong about that?"
" Nothing! I'm very happy for you!.....I dragged you out here to tell you just that...I'm getting married too.."
They stared at each other in an awkward silence blushing .
" W-When?" Chara slightly stuttered.
" Four months from now..."
" Mine is three months from now"
" I'll be there" Jakei softly smiled and took a sip of her coffee.
" Can I have a hug?" Chara had a hushed voice.
"Of course" Jakei was quiet too.
