Chapter 71

Throughout the whole evening, Jenna felt like she was seventeen again as she danced all night, never leaving the dance floor for even a second. She was starting to love the Weird Sisters' songs.

For some while back then, Fred had disappeared from the Great Hall, but when he returned, he walked to the dance floor with Lexi Hooper, meanwhile Angelina joined Jenna and George, along with Katie and Alicia and Lee Jordan.

Although the people around suddenly fell quiet when they heard Ron and Hermione shouting from where they sat on either side of Harry, having a rough spat.

Jenna didn't fully understand what the fight was about, but she suddenly saw Hermione get to her feet furiously, her face turning red before from anger before she stormed away.

Jenna watched Hermione leave with concern, but the moment she turned to follow after her, she was stopped as George held onto her arm.

"Where are you going, Anna? This song is awesome!" he said through the loud sound of music.

"I was just —" Jenna was trying to say, but she was cut off when Lee and Angelina walked toward them, cutting her off.

"You know, you're really different from what I pictured you to be, Anna," said Lee, grinning.

"Yeah." Angelina nodded in agreement. "I didn't expect you to be so — I mean — I thought you were —"

"A bitch?" Jenna completed her, making them all snort in laughter.

Jenna smiled as they switched partners so George could dance with Angelina, and Jenna started dancing with Lee to the next song. But then her eyes widened as she caught sight of a scene from afar. Jenna blinked a few times at what she was seeing, in case it was just a hallucination.

"I know I haven't had a drink or anything tonight, but am I just imagining things or is this really happening?" Jenna said in a hollow voice, looking behind Lee at the dance floor.

"What?" Lee raised a brow before glancing behind his shoulder, suddenly snorting at the scene they saw.

Professor Dumbledore was dancing with Professor Sprout, and a blond man with Professor McGonagall; Madame Maxime and Hagrid were cutting a wide path around the dance floor as they waltzed through the students.

"This could possibly be one of the best nights of my life." Jenna laughed to herself.

First a boy's head had turned into a pumpkin just a few minutes ago, and now her old teachers were all dancing together to the Weirs Sisters' songs. It couldn't possibly get any better than this.

Although Jenna's eyes suddenly widened when she recognized who the blond man dancing with Professor McGonagall was.

"Merlin's balls!" Jenna gasped, gaping at the man. "That's Ludo Bagman!"

Lee sniggered. "Yeah, so?"

"What!? What do you mean so!" Jenna retorted, as if personally offended. "He's a professional Quidditch player! He'a a great Beater!"

"Oh, is he?" Lee shrugged. "I mean, maybe you used to be... dunno. But there's no way he could be as good as Lucas Bargeworthy, or even Edric Vosper! They're freaking awesome!"

Jenna stared back at him, deciding to let the matter go. Being twelve years away from the Wizarding World had led her to lose track of Quidditch and she had no idea who these new players were.

When the next song ended, everybody applauded once more, and Jenna sneered when she saw Ludo Bagman kiss Professor McGonagall's hand and make his way back through the crowds, at which point Fred and George accosted him, for some reason looking extremely grim.

Excusing herself from Lee, Jenna said that she would be going to get some drinks. Although instead she made her way out of the Great Hall for some fresh air.

But she had just stepped into the entrance hall that Jenna came to a halt when she sighted Hermione, sitting on one of the steps of the marble staircase, sobbing quietly.

"Oh, my..." Jenna whispered to herself sadly, walking toward her with a sigh.

She didn't know what had gotten the poor girl so upset, but Jenna promised herself that if it were because of Ron Weasley or anyone else for that matter, she would have to kick their ass later.

"Hey, Mione," Jenna called softly, approaching her.

Hermione looked up as she briskly tried to wipe her tears away with the back of her hand, glancing back at Jenna in confusion.

"I'm sorry?" she said, staring at Jenna in a strange manner.

"Oh right, I forgot." Jenna shook her head, remembering that Hermione didn't know yet that she had come to the Ball as someone else.

So Jenna walked forward and sat down next to her on the stair, leaning in and whispering, "It's me. Jenna."

Hermione took aback, blinking a few times at the blonde girl who was sitting beside her.

"But you — how —" Hermione started to mumble in shock. "Then what happened to the girl — Oh Jenna, you can't just —!"

"Look, that's a long story which we can get to later — or never, hopefully." Jenna gave her a sheepish grin, before saying, "But we have more important matters at hand right now. What's wrong, Hermione? What happened?"

"It's — it's nothing," she whispered, throwing her gaze away.

"Oh, so you just suddenly thought to yourself and said, 'hmm... what would make this party more fun? Oh that's right! Sitting on the staircase and crying for no reason at all!'" Jenna said sarcastically, making Hermione burst out into laughter.

But the young girl then shook her head, smiling sadly. "It's just that... well... it's Ron..."

"Ugh, what did that little dumbass do this time?" Jenna rolled her eyes bitterly.

Hermione chuckled, though it soon faded as she let out a sniff. "We just got into a fight, that's all. He's being silly, to be honest. He says — he says Victor only asked me to the dance because he wanted to get information about Harry! He said I'm fraternizing with the enemy!"

But to her surprise, Jenna burst out into laughter at those words, shaking her head as if she had just remembered something.

"Oh, this makes so much sense now!" said Jenna, still chuckling.

"What?" Hermione raised a curious brow at her.

"Well, isn't it obvious?" said Jenna knowingly. "He's jealous!"

"Jealous?" Hermione repeated in surprise. "Honestly, Jenna —"

"Listen, I know what I'm talking about," Jenna tried to reason, cutting her off. "I'm most unfortunate to say that I was once like Ron myself."

"How so?" Hermione mused.

"I think it was my fifth year, I'm not sure," she started, "but we were invited to this Christmas party that our Potions' Professor had hosted. I asked Sirius to go with me, just as friends. But when I found out that he was already going with another girl, it pissed me off! Ugh... that bitch Gwenog Jones."

Hermione gave her a scolding look, though she was secretly amused by the way Jenna spoke.

"Anyway," Jenna shook her head, continuing with a smile, "I got really mad at Sirius, saying that he had come to the party with an enemy, because the girl was the captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team back then."

      "What's the point?" Hermione mumbled.

"The point is that... Even though there was no way I would've confessed it back then, I was definitely jealous — Don't tell Sirius, though. He would get really cocky if he knew," Jenna added quickly, making Hermione chuckle.

Although Hermione said nothing in response and only turned her glance down, still sniffing lightly. So sighing to herself, Jenna moved slightly closer to her and brought her into a side-hug comfortingly.

"If you ever wanted somebody to talk to, remember that you can always come to me," said Jenna, offering her a warm smile and Hermione nodded, already feeling so much better.
