Chapter 68
With Christmas approaching, there was only one thing that anyone could talk about at Hogwarts, and that was the upcoming Yule Ball.
Near the holidays, Jenna left Hogwarts in her cat form so she could do some shopping at Hogsmeade, though for that she had to transform herself into a random woman once she reached the village.
Jenna had already bought Hermione something for Christmas, which could help her get ready for the Ball. She also wanted to buy Harry a Christmas present as well while she was at the village and then address it to him under Sirius's name. Although she couldn't find anything useful for him.
Jenna was just about to enter Honeydukes Sweet Shop that she saw an owl flying toward her and when it reached her, it dropped a letter which Jenna managed to grab in the air. Owls must've had their own magic for locating someone, because Jenna wasn't looking like herself at the moment.
But her stomach lurched, for she knew it was a letter from Sirius. So she quickly opened the envelope and took the letter out, reading through,
Jenna,
I saw you that night in the common room and I really wished I could talk to you, though I knew I couldn't. But I was glad to know that you were all right.
Strangest things have been happening lately, and on top of it all are Harry's dreams and him being chosen to compete in the tournament. Although he won't be alone in this for too long, because I'm almost there.
The reason it took me so long to get to Hogwarts was because Buckbeak fell sick on our way here, and we had to stay low for a whole month.
Don't worry about me. I'm currently staying at our old flat —
Jenna couldn't help but smile upon reading those words. They had shared so many memories in their own little flat, the least of them being the rotten tomatoes from Sirius's moving day.
There are so many things here that I had forgotten even existed. Like the penknife you had given me for my birthday which could open any lock.
Jenna felt her face heat up. The one time that Sirius had used that penknife was to break in the shower while Jenna was in there, the morning after he had proposed to her. The embarrassing part was that Euphemia Potter had caught them.
I was thinking about sending the penknife to Harry as a Christmas present if you're okay with it. He might find it useful in the future. At least it's going to stay in the family.
I'll be arriving at Hogwarts soon and I'm planning on staying there until the end of this damn tournament. Try to send me a letter if anything new happens.
Sirius
With a sigh under her breath, Jenna pocketed the letter in her cloak and returned to Hogwarts after transforming back into Crookshanks in a deserted alleyway where no one could see her.
She missed walking around and talking to different people in her human form. Although she had a little solution for that. She had a plan for the upcoming Yule Ball.

As the night of the Yule Ball arrived, chaos fell through the girls' dormitory as everyone rushed around to get ready excitedly.
Harry and Ron had asked the Patil twins, but none of them knew that Hermione was going to the dance with Victor Krum. In fact, Jenna was one of the few who knew. Because Parvati and Lavender kept trying to get Hermione to tell them, though she didn't budge.
All girls were now almost ready and were wearing their make up in their dorm as Crookshanks was sitting on the bed, watching the chaos in amusement. Hermione was still in the dorm's bathroom, getting dressed.
Although Crookshanks's head snapped up when she saw the door to the bathroom open half-way. Hermione then looked through the door at Crookshanks, clearing her throat awkwardly to get her attention.
Understanding what she meant, Crookshanks jumped down from the bed and went inside the bathroom, and Hermione closed the door behind them.
On cue, Jenna transformed back to her human form and quickly casted the enchantments on the bathroom door, even though the other girls in the dorm were soon leaving.
The moment Jenna turned around to look at Hermione, her smile widened at her sight. "That dress is gorgeous!"
"Oh... Thanks," Hermione muttered, going slightly red in the face.
"Okay... now about the hair..." Jenna eyed Hermione's bushy hair with a weird expression on her face. "Well... I've got you a little Christmas present that we can use for your hair."
Jenna then dug into her pocket — which she had expanded the insides of it magically — and took out a fancy bottle of potion.
"What's that?" Hermione raised a brow at her.
"Sleekeazy's Hair," Jenna explained with a proud grin. "It was my father's invention, for when he was young. That's where my parents got most of their fortune — other than the money they were inherited from their family."
"Will it work?" Hermione asked unsurely, eyeing the bottle.
"Of course." She shrugged. "I personally never needed it, cause I could make my hair look however I wanted to. But our mum always tried get James to use it — he had the messiest hair ever! Even worse than Harry's! But James never budged."
Hermione chuckled. "All right... so should I put my hair down?"
"Oh, no. It definitely has to go up." Jenna smiled excitedly, looking down at Hermione's dress to see what hairstyle would go best with it. "Alice — an old friend of mine — had taught me a few tricks when it came to making the hair. Ironically, she had the shortest hair among us girls."
Mentioning the names of all these people Jenna had loved and yet had lost, made her tremendously sad. But to spend the next long minutes with Hermione and helping her get ready, certainly helped her forget about everything and to cheer her up.
She missed having someone to do these stuff with, now that Lily, Alice, and Marlene weren't around. It reminded Jenna of her own school days.
After Hermione's hair and make up were done, Jenna took a look at her, proud of the outcome. Hermione simply looked gorgeous.
Jenna remembered how Marlene had gotten her ready for the Potter Christmas Ball, forcing her to wear a silk and short red dress. And then Marlene had made a remark about how Sirius was going to react upon seeing Jenna in that dress.
Although all that Jenna thought would be appropriate to say to Hermione was, "Krum's jaw would drop to the floor and Ron would hate himself forever."
Hermione giggled, blushing. "Thank you, Jenna," she said, and then caught her off guard when she went forward and brought her into a hug.
Jenna took aback at first, but then hugged her back, finding herself smiling. But when she pulled away, Jenna grinned, saying, "You're welcome. But next time lets not hug in the girls' bathroom. It's weird."
Hermione chuckled and so after bidding her goodbye, she opened the bathroom room when Jenna had turned back into a cat. So with a wide smile on her face, Hermione left to meet up with Krum.
Crookshanks went out of the common room after some while, walking down the castle toward the entrance hall, where the others were gathered.
Although as the cat was making her way down the corridor, she saw two girls walking a few feet ahead of her alone. The girls were all dressed up and were on their way to the Great Hall to join the dance.
"I don't even wanna go to the stupid dance!" said the blonde one rolling her eyes. "I don't know why I even said yes to him."
"Look, if you're gonna be grumpy all night, then maybe you should just go back to the common room," said her friend, probably sick of all the nagging. "I'll tell your date that you were sick or something."
"Ugh... fine." The girl rolled her eyes again and turned on her heels, walking back up the corridor again.
This was the perfect opportunity for Jenna. The girl didn't even want to go to the Ball, and she was even going to stand up her date.
Once her friend was out of sight, Crookshanks sped up to catch up with the girl, and when she reached her, Jenna transformed back to human form and pointed her wand at the girl in a quick motion, muttering, "Confundo!"
On cue, the girl suddenly became dazed, turning to face Jenna with a blank expression on her face.
"Okay... I am terribly sorry..." Jenna started, turning to glance over her shoulder one last time to make sure no one was in the corridor, before turning to face the girl again. "You will go back up to your dorm, not remembering this. And tomorrow when you wake up, you're gonna be happy, because all you're going to remember is that you had lots of fun at the Ball."
When Jenna finished, the dazed girl nodded and so she started going back, leaving the corridor.
With a triumphant grin, Jenna transformed herself to look exactly like the girl, though she made sure to change the hairstyle as she made her way down to the entrance hall, where others were gathered.
Although the moment she walked down the marble staircase and looked around, Jenna's attention was caught when a guy approached her, waving.
"Ah, there you are!" he said with a grin, walking forward. "Ready for the our date?"
