Chapter 55

After dinner was over, Jenna flicked her wand effortlessly, causing the dirty dishes to fly toward the kitchen, magically cleaning themselves in the sink.

"So you didn't say where we should be going," Jenna said after they had gotten ready for bed. "And when are we leaving, and how?"

"Well, I gave it a lot of thought in these few days," said Sirius as the two walked upstairs, toward Jenna's old bedroom.

The house was now as clean as it had been years ago. As it seemed, Mickey had done a splendid job to look after the Potter Manor in those few days.

"And...?" Jenna questioned, getting under the bed sheets. "You said we should go somewhere warmer, because dementors will find trouble to get there."

"Yeah." He nodded. "I thought maybe we should go to Spain. And we should leave as soon as possible. I say tomorrow night, if we can."

"Spain?" Jenna repeated, her smile broadening. "And how are we going there, exactly?"

"With Buckbeak." Sirius shrugged, getting under the covers with her.

"Buckbeak!?" Her eyes widened. "You mean we should fly all the way to Spain flying on that Hippogriff!?"

"Well, we can't just leave him here and go. He'll starve to death," he reasoned. "Besides, we can't Apparate that far without getting Splinched. And we can't use a Portkey either, because the Ministry might somehow be able to track it after some while."

"Sometimes I have doubts in the way you think and process things, Sirius," Jenna said jokingly as she laid back in bed.

"I'm gonna take that as a compliment." Sirius grinned, wrapping an arm around her and brining her closer to him on the bed.

"The Quidditch World Cup is this year, by the way," said Jenna, curling into his chest. "Ron asked Harry to go and stay with him and his family for a while in the summer, so they could go see the match together."

"That's great!" Sirius grinned. "I'm sure he'll love it."

"Course he will! The boy's a Quidditch player all through and through. It's in his blood," she said proudly.

"You know, I remember our Quidditch World Cup," said Sirius, sighing happily at the memory.

"Yeah... it was a birthday gift for me and James." Jenna nodded lightly. "Eight tickets to the World Cup... along with Mum and Dad." She then laughed, saying, "I remember when I came to your dorm back then and saw you guys doing some sort of a war dance and chanting 'World Cup!'"

Sirius let out a loud laughter. "We were crazy."

"Dunno. Seems to me like you still are," Jenna said teasingly, causing him to shot her a look. But after a short pause she said, "I remember the Golden Snitch I saw there and wanted to buy it, but I had no money. And then you bought it for yourself. I was so mad at you back then!"

"Hey, I gave it back to you, didn't I?" Sirius retorted playfully. "I was just trying to tease you. I was planning on giving it to you as a gift later."

"Come to think of it... were you planning on proposing with it back then?" she mused.

"No, but I was looking for a special occasion to give it to you. But Christmas and birthday didn't feel special enough. So after a few years when I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you, I thought it would be the most romantic proposal ever, to hide the ring in that Snitch."

"You mean most dramatic proposal ever?" She grinned at him teasingly.

     "It wasn't dramatic!" he argued.

"Oh, please!" She scoffed, rolling her eyes. "You made it rain above us!"

"Exactly!" He nodded curtly. "That's called being romantic!"

"You know what? I give up!" Jenna chuckled, resting her head back on the pillow.

"As always," Sirius mumbled to himself but loud enough on purpose for Jenna to hear it, causing her to shot him a glare.

But she then sighed, letting the silence of the room carry her messed up thoughts away.

"Sirius?" Jenna said after a long pause, breaking the silence.

"Yeah?" he muttered, closing his eyes.

"There's a problem I forgot to tell you about," she said quietly, staring up at the ceiling.

"What is it?" His eyes shot open with worry, looking back at her.

"W-well... you know how I told you that the girl who had bought me as a cat from Diagon Alley last year — Hermione — was Harry's friend?"

      "Yeah...?"

"Well, she kinda knows about me, being a human."

"What!?" Sirius exclaimed, hoisting himself up on one elbow to look down at her in shock.

"She caught me when I was trying to escape from her house — I wanted to Obliviate her, but I saw no point — she's smart. She would've found my secret sooner or later."

      "But —"

"Look, I trust the girl." Jenna tried to reason, cutting him off. "I've been living in her dorm for a whole year. She's an amazing person. She had known about Remus's condition, but she didn't say a thing to anyone! I'm counting on her to keep this to herself as well."

"What did you tell her when she found out?" he questioned urgently, his eyebrows furrowing in concern.

"Er... nothing much," Jenna said awkwardly. "I didn't really get the time to explain."

"So you just left the poor girl there to deal with the shock of her cat being a human, and you also expect her to keep it a secret?"

"Yes, that was the general idea."

"Oh, Jenna..." Sirius shook his head in disappointment, suppressing a grin. "And you have doubts about my way of thinking things through?"

"Look, I'll explain everything to her in a few weeks when I have to return!" She shrugged. "She'll be going to the Weasleys for the World Cup too, and I'll have to get to her house, so she can take me with her. I'll tell her everything then."

But at those words, a visible sadness washed through Sirius's face as he watched her.

"What is it?" Jenna asked quietly.

"I — I just wished you wouldn't have to leave," he whispered.

"Oh..." Jenna breathed out, moving closer to him on the bed, until their faces were nearly touching. "I won't be gone forever, Sirius. We can see each other again. But Harry needs someone to look after him. I know they say that he's safe as long as he's at Hogwarts and under Dumbledore's watch. But don't you find it curious that in these last three years Dumbledore has done nothing to protect him?"

"What do you mean?" Sirius raised a brow at her.

"Call me crazy, but I have this feeling that Dumbledore's trying to get Harry to defend himself on purpose," she said, her eyes wondering off toward the ceiling again. "As if... he wants Harry to prepare himself for something bigger."

"But why would he even want to do that?" He frowned.

"I don't know." Jenna shrugged miserably. "But remember the prophecy? Because of which Lily and James both went into hiding with Harry? It said that Harry had to defeat Voldemort. And... and Voldemort is still out there, Sirius. What if — what if he tries to go after Harry again!?"

Upon seeing her hair turning into silver from fear, Sirius quickly moved forward and placed a comforting kiss on her forehead.

"Nothing's going to happen to Harry," he said promisingly. "We'll protect him, no matter what."
