Chapter 176
Turning around, Lexi was surprised to see Jenna standing there with a drink in her hand as she grinned coolly, looking like she had been observing her talk with Fred.
"I'm sorry," Lexi started out-of-the-blue, "not meaning to be rude or anything, but... who are you?"
Jenna took aback at those words. "You — you don't know who I am?" She blinked a few times in confusion. "I just assumed you knew everybody, which is why I didn't bother to introduce myself."
"Yeah, I thought I knew everybody too, but you seem to be an exception."
"Then... why didn't you just ask me before?"
"Well, it was never the right time," Lexi said earnestly. "The first time we met, you were attacked by Greyback. Then when I saw you again at hospital wing, you were unconscious for most of it. At Dumbledore's funeral you and Sirius seemed to be having a moment so I didn't want to ruin it. And last time I saw you at that safe house, we had to leave immediately if we wanted to catch our Portkey and didn't have time for a chitchat."
"Oh, I see..." Jenna then raised her hand for Lexi to shake. "So I guess introduction is in order."
"Okay." Lexi giggled, shaking her hand. "You probably know me already, but my name is Lexi."
"Well, it's nice to officially meet you, Lexi." She smiled. "I'm Jenna."
Jenna couldn't help but notice the look of realization flash through Lexi's eyes, before the girl cleared her throat. "Excuse me, what were you saying before?"
"I said that I wouldn't do that if I were you," Jenna repeated herself, still grinning.
"Er... do what?"
"Making your boyfriend jealous by talking to another boy," Jenna answered coolly. "Only works temporarily. Leads to problems later on."
She was certainly speaking from experience, seeing as the same had happened to her the last time Jenna had decided to make Sirius jealous by talking to Sturgis Podmore.
Lexi chuckled. "Well, what would you have me do?"
At those words, Jenna's grin widened once more. "You really wanna know?"
"Sure." She shrugged.
Jenna then took a few steps toward her, looking at Fred across the place, who was glancing at their direction guiltily every once in a while.
"Here's what I would do," Jenna started, the edge of her lips twitching up into a small smirk, "I would kiss him in a way that he would forget all about the other girls."
Lexi gaped at her, feeling her face flush at those words as she looked away awkwardly. "Is — is this talk really appropriate?"
"No." Jenna shrugged casually. "But it's necessary," she said playfully and winked, making her laugh lightly.
"Okay," said Lexi, throwing a quick glance at the group of giggling French girls. "Say I get my boyfriend to go all dizzy... what if the other girls don't let him go?"
Jenna chuckled darkly before moving closer to her, leaning down, and whispering, "Well... that's when you gotta drag some bitches down."
Lexi laughed at that, but the next moment they were interrupted as Sirius approached them, throwing an arm around Jenna's waist.
"What are you doing, Jenny?" Sirius asked suspiciously, narrowing his eyes down at her.
She shrugged, giving him an innocent look. "Just passing down valuable knowledge."
Sirius raised a brow at her, certainly not convinced. "Can you please not teach her anything? Lexi's troublesome enough on her own."
Jenna gasped mockingly, as if personally offended. "What? You think I'm a bad influence?"
"No, but I think you're as evil as Satan."
She scoffed. "Satan wishes he was as evil as me."
"Hello!" They all suddenly turned around at the voice, seeing George walking toward them. He then took Jenna's hand in his, shaking it charmingly. "George Weasley, at your service."
"Yeah, I know you," said Jenna, smiling at him, but Sirius gave George a look when his one ear went slightly red.
"So... er..." George started uncomfortably, "are you and Sirius... you know... married, or something?"
By those words, Jenna and Sirius turned to glance at each other sideways, a hint of hurt flashing through both their eyes.
"No." Jenna shook her head at last, forcing a little smile.
George only smirked. He opened his mouth to speak, but Lexi beat him into it when she said, "So how long have you guys been going out?"
"Oh, we go way back," said Sirius, grinning.
"We started going out at Hogwarts," Jenna explained. "Although... there was many years in between that..." Her voice trailed away.
She then shook her head, turning to face Lexi and changing the subject quickly. "So you and Fred started dating at Hogwarts too, huh? How're things between you?"
"Yeah, we did." Lexi nodded. "Things are fine. Although it would've been better if someone hadn't made us uncomfortable by setting a silly five-inches-rule."
By those words, Jenna turned to glare at Sirius, who looked away briskly, avoiding her eyes.
Jenna shook her head at him in disappointment, muttering, "You filthy hypocrite."
"So, anyway," Sirius cleared his throat. "Speaking of Hogwarts... how are things there?"
"Ah, yes... the good old days at Hogwarts." Jenna let out a sigh. "I miss it there... it's been years since I've been in that castle." She wasn't sure if the kids had noticed her sarcasm.
"We used to cause a lot of trouble," said Sirius with a proud grin. Jenna cleared her throat, trying to tell him that now wasn't the time to bring up any inappropriate memory.
"Oh, yeah?" George mused. "What did you do?"
"Pranking people, mainly," Jenna said before Sirius could have the chance to even open his mouth, afraid that he would tell them about their private moments spent in the broom closets. "We mostly pranked Filch."
At those words, Sirius gave her a warning look. But Jenna's grin only widened.
"Great stories we had at Hogwarts," she said.
"Don't," said Sirius warningly.
"Although there's this one in particular that stands out the most."
"Jenna!"
"Did you know Sirius actually kissed Filch once?" she finally blurted out.
"What!?" George and Lexi exclaimed, turning to face Sirius, who was glaring at Jenna furiously.
"You had promised you would stop telling that story!" Sirius told her angrily.
"Actually if I recall correctly, I promised that I would never let it go."
"Jenna, you tell them what exactly happened right now!"
"Okay, fine." Jenna sighed in defeat before turning to face the other two, saying, "it was in our sixth year, Sirius kissed Filch in the Gryffindor common room. It was quite passionate, actually —"
"That's not what I meant!" Sirius shouted as George and Lexi roared with laughter, even though they were highly disgusted.
"Oops," Jenna grinned, "then perhaps you should've been more specific."
But before Sirius could protest any further, Jenna winked at the kids and then turned on her heels to walk away, finishing her drink as she did. Sirius quickly walked after her as Lexi and George kept on laughing.
"You've got to stop telling everyone that story! It's embarrassing!" Sirius rambled on in hoarse whisper. "Or if you're telling them, at least tell them the whole truth! I really don't —"
Sirius was saying, but Jenna cut him off when she sighed and put down her glass before yanking Sirius's collar, suddenly pulling him down for a kiss. That was all it took for him to stop talking, and even thinking.
But before the kiss could deepen any more, right at that moment, the couple pulled away from horror when something large and silver came falling through the canopy over the dance floor.
A Patronus of a lynx landed lightly in the middle of the astonished dancers. Heads turned, then the Patronus's mouth opened wide and it spoke in the loud, deep, slow voice of Kingsley Shacklebolt,
"The Ministry has fallen. The Minister is dead. They are coming."
