Chapter 145

Jenna and Sirius walked back up into their shared bedroom at the Burrow, even though it was still pretty early at night. Although seeing as everyone had a long and tiresome day, they all went to bed as well, and the couple were now the only ones awake.

With a little sigh, Jenna got up on the small bed that she and Sirius shared; the one which was closer to the window.

"What was your deal with poor Lexi?" Jenna said as Sirius was looking outside the window. "Why would you care if she wants to move into her boyfriend's house?"

"Excuse me!?" Sirius turned to face her sharply. "She's sixteen! She's too young to make these sort of decisions for herself!"

"Sirius, in case you have forgotten, you asked me to move in with you back when we were around sixteen too," Jenna reasoned with him.

"Maybe, but we actually moved in together when we were both eighteen, after graduating from school!"

"Yes, because that was my decision." Jenna shrugged. "I was old enough to decide for myself, and know that it wouldn't be reasonable, and that I knew my parents weren't going to agree, so there was no point in asking them anyway. But Lexi hasn't seen her parents for years, and the Burrow is too crowded at the moment. Besides, she wants to work at the Joke Shop, which I think is a great idea. It's very convenient to stay there."

"But — but — she's going to live with her boyfriend!"

"So? Look, there are three bedrooms at their flat. She'll just sleep in another room."

"Yeah, right." Sirius scoffed. "Just like how you slept on the couch on the day I moved to my new flat."

Jenna laughed, shaking her head. "Why do you feel so protective toward Lexi, anyway?"

"Well..." Sirius sighed, pausing for a second to think the matter over. "I guess... she really reminds me of her mother, when she was a child. I always felt protective toward her when we were younger, and felt like an older brother to her. And also... there's a chance I could be her uncle."

"We can't be too sure about that," Jenna said softly, not wanting Sirius to get his hopes up about his brother still being alive. Though a part of her had started to believe it as well.

There came a long silence between them as Sirius stared back out of the window, deep in his thoughts.

"By the way, did you see what happened today?" Jenna asked, glancing back at Sirius with a look that clearly said she was excited about a new gossip.

"What do you mean?" Sirius questioned in confusion, his eyebrows knitting together as he looked back at her.

"Um, hello? Remus and Tonks!"

"What about them?" Sirius asked obliviously.

"What!? I'm sorry, but did we not see what we just saw!?"

"Jenna, you're not making any sense!" Sirius laughed at her confusing sentence. "They were just — I don't know — acting really awkward."

"Exactly!" Jenna nodded enthusiastically. "That's my point! I mean, haven't you noticed that they've been acting different lately?"

"Well — yeah, I suppose — maybe they like each other —"

"This is beyond like, believe me," Jenna stated knowingly. "I saw the way they looked at each other today. It was so obvious."

"All right, then I'll talk to Remus about it," Sirius suggested.

"Good idea." She nodded again.

"I still can't believe it..." Sirius said in a hollow voice after a long pause of silence, sitting at the edge of the bed. "I'm free... after fifteen years, I'm finally free."

Jenna smiled, feeling an overwhelming happiness and warmth in her heart and soul as she watched him.

"You know what I've been thinking?" Jenna whispered, looking down.

"What?" Sirius mused, looking over at her.

"What if — what if Lexi wasn't there at the Ministry?" Jenna mumbled, biting her lower lip.

"Jenna, don't think about it —"

"I can't help it!" Jenna shook her head, finally turning to look back at him. "I... Sirius, I would've lost you forever... And even the thought of it — it makes me sick! Seeing you like that, and thinking that you were dead, even only for a few minutes — it was like torture."

"But I'm here now, Jenny," Sirius said softly with a smile, reaching out his hand to put a strand of her hair behind her ear, before leaning in and placing a gentle kiss on her lips.

"Well... on the bright side, your name will be officially cleared tomorrow," said Jenna. "What's the first thing you'd want to do?"

"Hmm..." Sirius started thoughtfully. "I think I'd like to take a long walk."

Jenna chuckled. "Where?"

"Anywhere. It's doesn't matter." Sirius shrugged. "The point is that no matter where I go, I won't have to be afraid of being captured and sent back to Azkaban every second of it."

"Well... I know it's late, but we can go take a walk now," Jenna suggested, her goofy smile broadening.

"That's a great idea, actually." Sirius grinned, getting up to his feet.

"All right!" Jenna said excitedly, moving toward the door.

Careful not to wake anyone, Jenna opened up the door slowly and took Sirius's hand, leading him downstairs as they tiptoed their way out of the house.

"So, where should we go?" Sirius asked, looking around at the plain outside the Burrow.

"I've got an idea," Jenna said brightly, and then she raised her hand for Sirius to take again.

Sirius gave her a look, a light smirk tucking at the edge of his lips handsomely. "Where are you going to take me, Jenny?"

"Just trust me, will you?" Jenna chuckled, shaking her head at him.

"All right..." Sirius sighed in a mocking manner before holding Jenna's hand in his, and the next moment, they Disapparated away.

When Sirius felt his feet hit the ground again, he opened his eyes, only to find himself in a familiar-looking village.

"Hey, I know this place!" he said in realization after a few seconds of looking around. "It's the Muggle village near the Potter Manor."

"Yeah." Jenna nodded lightly, her gaze roaming around the empty streets and shops around. "C'mon," she said, dragging Sirius forward with their hands intertwined.

They had been apart for so long that Jenna felt as if they were holding hands for the first time, getting tingles where their skin touched and feeling butterflies in her stomach.

She led him toward a small stone-made bridge, underneath which a creek passed by, creating an ear-catching melody as it flowed away.

"Merlin, I just remembered something." Sirius suddenly sniggered as a memory made its way over his head when they walked up on the bridge.

"What?" Jenna asked curiously.

"This is where you asked me if I were a virgin or not."

"Sirius!" Jenna exclaimed in disbelief, staring at him with wide eyes. "God, out of all the things you could've remembered..."

"You had got so uncomfortable that it was actually funny!" Sirius laughed.

"It wasn't funny! It was embarrassing!" She retorted.

"That's exactly why it was so funny!"

Jenna rolled her eyes, looking away from him and gazing down at the creek as she leaned against the stoney bridge.

"Come on, Jenny," Sirius said teasingly, moving forward to wrap his arms around her from behind, resting his chin down on her shoulder. "Admit it. It was pretty funny."

"Oh, shut up," said Jenna, suppressing a smile.

"Well, if it makes you feel any better, I also remember kissing you here," Sirius said softly, turning her around so she was now facing him, his arms still around her waist.

"Sirius, that's old news. You kissed me everywhere we went." Jenna laughed, giving him a playful look.

"True." Sirius shrugged, leaning in to press his lips against hers.

Jenna felt the breath get knocked out of her chest, but she kissed him back, wrapping her arms around his neck to bring him down and even closer to her.

But before the kiss could deepen, she pulled away with a teasing smile.

"What?" Sirius mused, returning the grin.

"I thought we should better stop, or we'd get caught for public moral offense again," she said, and Sirius burst into laughter.

"True," he said with a grin.
