Chapter 28
Maui POV
I woke up the next morning to a quiet village. It may have been quiet but there was a huge mess.
"Wha?" I said. Then I remembered. "Oh, the Harvest Fest."
I remembered watching through the window as Aisake and Moana danced the night away. Like a couple would do.
I sighed and went over to Moana's hut. I transformed into a beetle and looked through the window.
She was in there with Akhino. I held back a gasp.
Akhino tapped her shoulder lightly. She leapt a foot in the air and turned around. Akhino laughed. "How are you kitten?"
Moana smiled. "I'm fine," she yawned. "But tired."
Akhino chuckled. "I assume you danced wit Maui all night?"
Moana looked at the ground. "He didn't want to come. I was a little hurt."
"Oh you poor thing," Akhino said, pulling her in for a hug. "I'm starting to believe he doesn't really love me."
"But what about the times that he kissed you?"
"He didn't kiss me, I kissed him."
"Oh." Akhino looked down at her. "If really hoped my little kitten had found a worthy man."
I stood there, gaping. "Yeah, me too," Moana sighed.
Akhino lifted Moana's head, caressing her cheek with his hand.
"Moana," he said. Moana looked up at him. "Yeah?"
"After your birthday I don't want you to return to Lalotia."
Moana looked shocked and relieved. "Why?"
"I've been watching you grow up and your people need you."
"What're you going to tell Tama and Decon?"
"I'm not sure."
"Thanks Aki," she said.
"You're welcome," he sung playfully. "That's Maui's line," Moana scoffed.
Akhino laughed and picked Moana up, pulling her in for a hug.
"I love you dad," she said.
I was shocked. I thought she loved him as a... you know... boyfriend. Not in a fatherly manner.
"I love you too kitten."
Akhino put her down. "Now, go get some rest."
Moana smiled and yawned again. She climbed into her hammock just as the first rays of sunshine started to show. She was asleep almost instantly.
A voice behind me said, "Take care of my kitten, ok?"
I turned back into my demigod form.
"Ok Akhino."
Akhino turned to leave but turned back at the last second. "And give her a kiss or two," he said, winking.
I blushed a little but nodded.
Akhino smiled again and took off. I looked back at Moana.
She was sound asleep. I smiled and climbed through her window. I kissed her lightly on the forehead before climbing back out the window and heading back to my hut.
