VANCE.

"WE HAVE a bit problem, guys." I informed Ryde and Jake.

I know we can get through that place. I just need to save the data for us to track the location. But what I am worrying about is, I can't guarantee if we could able to save Colt and Jade. Their hide out was impressively secured and I'm pretty sure that there will be guards down there.

"What do you mean? Elaborate your report," Ryde said from my earpiece. "We are running out of time, Vance!—"

"Shi—t!" I cussed when someone hit my nape with something hard.

I fell off from my seat and I grunted as I touched where it stings. My hand was covered by my own blood. My vision gets blurry. Damn it! Not now, prick!

I crawled to the other side of the security room to find something to hold onto. As my breathing became unusual, my vision got blurry even more.

I tried to push my earpiece to talk with Ryde and Jake but the man who barged inside the security room forcefully smacked my face.

The pain made me spit an amount of blood. I think he broke my jaw! Shit!

"Strong enough to invade our premises?" he walked towards my direction. "But you're too weak to get up to fight, you son of bitch!" He pointed the gun towards my left temple as he knelt beside me.

I whined as I spoke. "J-just pull the trigger—Wait! No! No! You could actually might!" I panicked as I realized what I just said.

What the heck I am saying?

I heard him chuckled but his laughter got interrupted with his own gasp.

As I squinted my eyes to make my vision clearer, I heard a deep voice of a man. "Take the gun away from his head. . .or I swear to your ancestors, you'll never gonna see the next sunrise again."

"J-jake?" is what I got able to mumble.
It seemed like he ignored me or he didn't even heard what I said.

"Drop your gun, now!" He furiously commanded to the guy beside me.

With that, the guy in front of me threw his gun to the floor. Slowly, he stood up as he brought his arms upwards.

"Nine-two-five and Seven-o-seven, please report your situation now! There's only one lot left, I will join the bidding to distract the auction," Ryde said to us and we knew, we are literally running out of time.

I fixed my posture and when my strength fully came back, I rushed onto my laptop to save the data I gathered. This is our last hope to save Jade and Colt.

As I tried to save the data in to my laptop, I talked to Ryde through my earpiece. "We have a situation here, Ryde," I whimpered when my wound in my nape rankled. "They send a henchman to interfere our plan," I added.

But when the data is almost complete, a deafening sound of gun echoed inside the room. Agad akong napalingon sa gawi ni Jake.

"Dude!" I exclaimed as I saw how the man slowly fell his body onto the ground.

Jake shoot the guy! Someone might hear the noise he made!

"Pasensya na, gumalaw eh," he answered and pulled the guy to the other side of the room.

"What the hell just happened? I heard that!" Ryde exclaimed as he joined our conversation.

"Chill Harrison, I just did what is right for that jerk," Jake defensively said and came towards me.

Napailing na lang ako at itinuon pabalik ang atensyon sa laptop.

Data transferred complete!

"Finally!" I said and we heard a gavel sound from our earpiece.

Nagkatinginan kami ni Jake at mabilis na kumilos paalis ng security room.

"Double-o-two, approaching to the back door. Illicit Task Force, let's assemble," our leader declared.

He sounds cool there, huh? Is he trying to mimic Captain America? Because if he was, he really sounds convincing.

"Daming alam ni Harrison, ganap na ganap sa pagiging leader natin," komento ni Jake sa gilid ko habang naglalakad.

Natawa ako sa sinabi niya. "Pagbigyan na lang natin, 'di naman sila nagkakalayo ng itsura at pangangatawan ni Steve Rogers," saad ko at napailing siya sa narinig.

Nagmadali kaming iwan ang security room. Nang nakalabas na kami sa back door, at makarating sa napag-usapang lugar ay sinalubong kami ni Ryde habang nakasandal sa isang kotse. He gave us a straight face, as he crossed his arms against his chest.

Napalingon ako sa gilid ko kung saan nakatayo si Jake. I frowned my lips down as I realized that Ryde probably heard our conversation.

"We don't have time for nonsense chats. Hop in," Ryder said and got inside the car.

Jake shrugged his shoulders and as soon as we got inside the car, he asked him, "Nagtrabaho ka ba sa BIR, Harrison?"

Jake sat on the passenger seat and I decided to stay at the backseat of the car. When we're already sitting comfortably, Ryde started the engine and maneuvered the steering wheel.

"No, I'm not." Ryde cleared his throat. "Stop asking me stupid questions Jake, we have an important work to do," he added and fixated his gaze at the road.

"Ah, gano'n ba? Akala ko kasi member ka ng samahan ng mga Babaeng Inurungan ng Regla," he softly chuckled. "Cute mo maging moody Harrison eh, hmm?" Jake teased him.

"Ha-ha-ha, that's the most hilarious pun I've ever heard," Ryde replied annoyingly. I even saw a glimpse of Ryde rolling his eyes through the rear mirror.

"Hey, Vance, where was the location?" he queried as he looked upon my gaze through the rear mirror.

"Uhh, hold on. . ." I immediately grabbed my laptop and opened it to track the location I saved back there.

WE ARRIVED at the quiet and hidden part of Dezvouz Town. According to the traces, the secret passage way to the underwater hide out was here.

But I can't seem to find it! Nandito lang dapat 'yon, asar naman!

"Vance ano na? Kanina ka pa palinga-linga sa kalsada," iretableng saad ni Jake na nakatayo sa gilid ko.

Hindi ko siya pinansin at nalakad sa paligid. At nang makita ko ang naiibang kulay ng brick sa kalsada, agad ko silang tinawag.

"Are you sure we are in the right place, Vance?" Ryde asked me.

I nodded as reply and then I knelt down to forcefully lift the brick. As soon as I lifted the faded green brick, a path below the ground showed up.

Binigyan ko sila ng tingin at isang tango saka tumayo. Lumapit ako sa gawi nila at binigyan sila ng tig-isang device na nakaka-detect ng location ng mga kasama namin.

Kasing laki noon ang screen ng relo ni Ryde. May pinapakitang mga linya at maliit na kulay berdeng bilog. Doon naka-indicate ang posisyon nina Jade at Colt.

Kaya ko sila binigyan no'n dahil kailangan naming maghiwalay. Dalawa sa 'min ang magsasama para puntahan at iligtas si Colt. At ang isa naman sa 'min ay kay Jade pupunta.

"Ako na ang bahala sa kapatid ko, mas maraming nakabantay kay Olivia," imik ni Jake at tiningnan niya kami sa mata. "Take this chance to reconcile and befriends with her, Vance. Let Harrison do the violence," he grinned.

"Let's get going," Ryde mumbled and slung his bag across his chest.

Agad namin siyang sinundan pababa sa hagdan. Sinubukan kong kapain ang pader ng nilalakaran namin at gawa rin ito sa brick. Dahil na sa loob na kami, hindi na namin maaninag ang daanan. Hindi na kasi abot sa loob ang sinag ng araw.

Agad namang dumukot ng flare stick si Ryde at kinuskos sa pader kaya lumiwanag na ang dinaraanan namin.

Nagsanhi ito ng maliwanag na kulay pula. Inabot naman niya kay Jake ang unang sinindihan at kumuha ng panibago.

Nang marating namin ang huling hakbang ng hagdan ay kusang nagsara ang dinaanan namin pababa. Nangyari iyon matapos kong maapakan ang isang brick na naka-usli sa ibaba ng hagdan.

Tanging liwanag mula sa flare sticks na hawak nina Jake ang nagsisilbi naming ilaw.

Gamit ang pulang liwanag, natanaw ko ang elevator ng tube mula sa 'di kalayuan.

"Doon tayo, Jake at Ryde!" pag-anyaya ko sa kanila at binaybay ang mahabang pasilyo hanggang marating ang dulo nito.

"Ano 'yan?" imik ni Jake sa likuran ko.

"Elevator tube," Ryde answered him. He stepped forward to press the button that will open the door. Jake just nodded on Ryde's statement.

Sunod-sunod kaming pumasok sa loob nang magbukas ang elevator. At gaya no'ng sa pasilyo, madilim rin sa loob. Wala ba silang kuryente rito?

Napatingin si Ryde sa braso niya para tingnan ang relo. Humarap siya sa 'min ni Jake saka nagsalita.

"Once we got to Olivia's place, I'll distract the bastards and you'll save her, do you understand?" He looked at my eyes intently.

It took me seconds before I got able to reply him, "Y-yes, I'll take care of Colt."

"Good to hear. Thanks for your cooperation, Vance," he replied.

Naramdaman ko ang kamay ni Jake sa balikat ko. "It's your time to shine dudong," he chortled and slightly slapped my shoulder.

"Shut up!" I halted as my brows furrowed. "Do your best to save your twin. She was guarded by two men, good luck dudong. . ." I added as I tried to mimic his tone.

He just rolled his eyes and we both fixated our gaze back to the door.

Nang bumukas ang pinto ng elevator ay hindi namin inaasahan ang bubungad sa 'min.

Isang malakas na tadyak ang natanggap ni Ryde mula sa lalaking nakatayo sa labas ng elevator.

Nawalan ng balanse si Ryde at halos mapaupo sa sulok ng kinatatayuan namin. Hindi ko inakalang may susugod sa 'kin na isa pang lalaki pero agad kong iniwasan ang atake niya.

Mabilis akong yumuko at walang ano ano'y buong pwersa kong pinatid ang binti niya. Bumagsak siya at umungol sa pagkakauntog sa sahig.

"Nice reflex, Vance!" narinig kong papuri sa 'kin ni Jake habang sinusubukang patumbahin ang isa pa sa mga lalaking pilit kaming inaatake.

Napaatras ako palabas nang buong pwersang hilain ng lalaking may malaking pangangatawan si Ryde.

"Harrison! Putragi—" hindi natapos ni Jake ang sasabihin dahil may umatake na sa kanya.

Agad kong kinuha ang taser mula sa bulsa ng suot kong jacket. Pero walang panama ang hawak ko sa nilabas na chako ng lalaking humarang sa tapat ko.

Bahagya akong napaatras. Kapag tumama 'yan sa katawan ko, ewan ko na lang kung makakalakad pa ako nang maayos. Wala akong napala sa misyon na 'to kung 'di puro sakit lang sa katawan, pambihira talaga!

Muli akong humakbang dahil patuloy pa rin sa pag-abante papalapit sa 'kin ang kumag.

Kung aatake ka, umatake ka na— shit!

Mabilis niya akong sinunggaban ng ilang hampas gamit ang chako.

"What a lame piece of shit!" tumatawang saad ng lalaki sa harap ko.

Pinangsalag ko ang dalawang braso ko, at bigla akong napaiktad nang matisod sa inatrasan ko.

Mahigpit akong kumapit sa bakal na rehas. Muntik na akong mahulog pababa matapos mawalan ng balanse. Mabuti na lang at may harang na bakal sa paligid kaya hindi ako tuluyang nahulog sa ibaba.

Nilingon ko ang baba at wala akong ibang babagsakan kung hindi matigas na sahig. Asar naman! Mababalian na talaga ako ng gulugod nito!

Nang ituon ko pabalik sa taas ang ulo ko ay dumagundong ang pagtawag ni Jake sa pangalan ko.

"Vance!" sigaw niya matapos mahampas ng chako ang kamay kong nakakapit sa rehas ng bakal na harang.

Wala akong nagawa kung 'di mariing pumikit saka hinintay na lumapat ang katawan ko sa babagkasang sahig.

Hindi umabot ng ilang segundo at kumalampag ang likod ko sa bakal na sahig.

I grunted and bended out my chest. Damn this shit.

Pero wala akong panahon para indahin ang sakit. Pinilit kong tumayo at natanaw ko mula sa pwesto ko na walang alinlangang sinugod ni Jake ang umatake sa 'kin. Hindi na iyon nakapalag pa nang masakal siya ni Jake gamit ang kadena ng chako.

Bigla naman akong nagitla nang bumagsak mula sa taas si Ryde habang nakadagan siya sa dalawang lalaki.

Napaawang ang bibig ko nang makitang hinugot ni Ryde ang dalawang blade na nakabaon sa leeg ng mga ito.

Halos manuyot ang lalamunan ko sa nasaksihan. I tried to speak but I'm too stunned for what I just witnessed.
Ryde get off from the guys he killed. He hid his blades in his side's pockets, "W-what?" for the first time, I heard him stammered.

I slowly shook my head as I cannot speak still.

Jake then reached our place. As soon as he walked towards my direction he asked me, "Sana buo pa ang spinal cord mo pagkatapos mong bumagsak," alanganin niyang pagbiro saka kinapa ang likod ko.

Bahagya akong uminda at iniwas ang masakit na bahagi ng katawan ko. "K-kaya pa naman, masamang damo rin ako e," sabi ko at pilit na tumawa.

"The devices we have were destroyed," Ryde informed us and it made my heart skipped a beat,. "We don't have choice but to take a risk and find them here. . ." he gave us a convincing look as he glanced at us, "Whatever it takes."

WE DIDN'T waste time and we separated our ways to find Jade and Colt. As what we have planned out, Jake will find his sister, Ryde and I will go find and save Colt.

"Seven-o-seven? Do you copy? I repeat, do you copy, Seven-o-seven?" Ryde whispered beside me as he talked to Jake through his earpiece.

"Ang clingy mo naman yata, Harrison. Miss mo na ako agad, kakahiwalay lang natin ah?" natatawang sagot ni Jake.

Pinigilan kong matawa sa sagot ni Jake.

"The hell are you blabbering about, Jake? Take this seriously, could you?" Ryde closed his eyes hardly.

"Aw, I thought you're making up for the argument we had earlier," Jake sounds offended. "But yeah, I'm still walking, have a little patience too." we heard him sigh.

"Just don't forget our call time, Jake." he paused, "All of us will leave this place, and no one will be left behind, do you copy?" Ryde muttered as we walked along the aisle.

"I know, Harrison, I'll be back as soon as I find my sister." Jake then, vanished from the other line.

Nahihirapan siguro si Jake kung paano mag-sorry kay Ryde dahil sa inasta niya kaninang umaga. Dinadaan niya na lang sa pampipikon kay Ryde.

Masugid naming binaybay ni Ryde ang pasilyo na nilikoan namin mula no'ng maghiwalay kami ni Jake. Hindi gaya sa bukana ng hideout, ngayon ay maliwanag na ang daanan namin dahil sa fluorescent lights sa itaas namin.

Wala kaming ibang makita sa dinaraanan namin kung hindi mga silid na gawa sa glass ang dingding.

Hindi ko maiwasang makapakunot ang noo habang sinusuri ang laman ng bawat kwarto.

"I'm dying to know what's inside of those cells," saad ni Ryde sa tabi ko habang patuloy kaming naglalakad.

Ang bawat madaanan naming silid ay may laman na mga cells. Mga cylinder cells na magkakahanay.

Bigla akong napahinto sa paglalakad nang patigilin ng kamay ni Ryde ang katawan ko sa pag-abante. Hinarang niya ang kaliwang braso sa nilalakaran ko kaya bumangga ang dibdib ko roon.

"Shhh," bulong niya at pareho kaming nakiramdam. May narinig kaming mga yabag ng tao na tila papalapit sa pwesto namin.

Agad kaming nagtago sa isa sa mga pasilyo.

Pigil-hininga kaming sumiksik sa isang gilid ng mga nakahanay na mga nagtataasang apparatus.

Habang naghihintay kaming makalayo ang mga bantay, hindi ko na naiwasang magtanong kay Ryde tungkol kay Verity.

"Ah, Ryde, about Verity. . . Why did she talk with you with different language?" I queried.

He turned his gaze at me and he answered, "That's an indication that she's helping us out there."

Napatango ako sa nakuhang sagot at muling nagtanong, "Why? I mean, how? Was that some sort of your love language?" I tried to sound natural, but he knows I'm just asking dumb questions.

"Love language my ass." he rolled his eyes and turned his head upwards. "We both learned to speak Russian because we used to work together." he looked back at me. "To assassinate a Russian official eight years ago," he added briefly.

"Did you guys, succeed? I mean, did you terminate your target? " I queried once more.

He took a deep breath then looked away, "Of course we did. That was the most important— wait, I'm over sharing now." he squinted his eyes as his gaze get back at my direction, "I'm not fond of interrogation Vance, just to warn you," he said and glared at me sharply.

Ano bang pumasok sa kokote ko at nagtatanong ako ng mga ganyang bagay kay Ryde? Baka mabanas siya sa 'kin at bigla akong tuluyan rito.

"I'm sorry, Ryde." I cleared my throat, "We can't avoid to be curious at some point, you know?"

He clicked his tongue and looked over to the apparatus beside him.

"Criminals don't usually ask bombarding questions." he tapped my shoulder as an indication that we have to get out from our spot, "Curiosity has killed many people over history, don't dare be one of those fools," he finalised his statement, then we sneak out into the aisle.

Wala na ang mga bantay kanina. Siguro nag-iikot lang sila at wala pang alam na nakarating na kami sa parteng 'to ng kuta nila.

Tahimik kaming naglakad muli at nang makarating kami sa kanto ng pasilyo, may bukod tanging silid ang hindi napaliligiran ng salamin.

Nilingon ako ni Ryde at binigyan ng isang tango. Pareho kaming kinutuban sa kung anong laman ng silid na nakita namin.

"In count of three, Vance!" Ryde muttered and as he counted to three, we barged inside the room.

Nagulantang ang mga tao sa loob at hindi nagawang pigilan ang paglusob namin dahil agad akong naghagis ng smoke grenades sa sahig.

Sunod-sunod na pag-ubo ang narinig ko. At iyon ay nasundan ng walang humpay na kalabog ng sahig at mga upuan.

Hindi kami naapektuhan ni Ryde ng usok dahil bago pa kami pumasok sa loob, nagsuot na kami ng goggles at mask para protektahan ang mga mata at bibig namin.

Wala akong inaksayang oras. Nang maaninag ko ang kinaroroonan ni Colt, agad kong sinira ang lock sa kadena sa paa niya gamit ang pliers. Dahan-dahan ko siyang inalalayan at binuhat pababa.

Basang-basa ang itaas na bahagi ng katawan ni Colt, at wala na rin siyang malay. Hindi na ako nag-alinlangan na alisin ang suot kong jacket at isinuot sa basa niyang katawan.

Inalalayan ko siyang makasandal sa pader na gawa sa bakal. At nang tuluyan nang mawala ang usok sa pakiligid, natanaw kong habol-hiningang nag-aayos nang pagtayo si Ryde.

Napatumba niya ang apat na lalaking nakabantay sa silid. Wala naman akong nakitang bakas ng dugo sa paligid, pero ang mga lalaki ay hindi na gumagalaw. Malamang pinilayan niya ang mga 'to.

Naglakad palapit sa pwesto namin si Ryde at lumapit siya kay Colt na unti-unti nang nagkakamalay. "I know you're not fine, but can you stand and walk?" he asked her.

Colt couldn't able to speak. She only gave him slow nods as a response.
A static sound coming from our earpiece suddenly approached as we heard Jake. "Seven-o-six' location, found," he reported.

"Great, we gotta leave this place before they found out we're rescuing our companions," Ryde mumbled upon his earpiece, but then Jake spoke again.

"I have a situation here, Ryde, listen carefully." he paused and breathes heavily. "This insane place is not just their hideout, because they're keeping their potential lots here— all of them!" Jake exclaimed that made us confused.

"What do you mean, them, Jake?" I asked as my brows furrowed.

"Jade wasn't alone here, there are many other women stocked down here!"

We heard Colt coughed repeatedly. I have no choice but to comfort her back by giving her a small pats. Fudge! Why am I even doing this gesture to this woman?

She then stopped from coughing her lungs out. I think she got choked because of too much water she has consumed.

I immediately removed my hand away from her back, and awkwardly kept it close to my side.

Ryde on the other side is contemplating our situation. He started pacing back and forth.

Then suddenly, he stopped and faced us. "We can't use the elevator to get out here." he touched his earpiece. "Jake, what do you have there? Is there anything or something that could help us out?"

"There were big apparatus here— wait, hold on. . . I found a monitor!"

His news was followed by a long pause. We waited for him to continue his report and then minutes have passed he spoke again. "There's a passage way on the west route, but I think we couldn't get out through that way," Jake explained to us.

"Why?" Ryde and I asked in unison.

"Base sa map na naka-indicate sa monitor, kapag dumaan tayo sa west route, may pinto roon padiretso sa hagdan na nakakabit sa mahabang tube ng kuta na 'to," paliwanag niya.

May hagdan naman pala eh!

"Okay then?" pang-uusisa ni Ryde habang nakapamaywang at maigiging nakikinig.

"Harrison, hindi mo kuha? Na sa ilalim tayo ng dagat! Isipin mo na lang ang oras na gugogulin natin para umakyat sa hagdan na 'yon!" bumuntong hininga si Jake saka nagpatuloy, "We are definitely thousands of feet below the sea, Harrison. Wala tayong gamit o kahit na oxygen tank— malulunod tayong lahat!" dagdag pa niya at bakas sa boses niya ang pagkabalisa.

Tama si Jake, mamamatay lang kami kung susubukan namin ang paraan na 'yon para makabalik sa taas.

"Why waste your time saving me here, idiots?" Colt suddenly asked us.

She already gained some strength. And as I heard her sentiment, I can't help but refute her ungrateful mindset.

"Saying thank you is a basic courtesy, Colt. Come on! Acquiring some doesn't requires you to attend seminars." I shook my head in disbelief.

"Your efforts will just be put into waste. Look at us now? We can't even leave this place because there's no way out," she said and gestured her head seemingly hopeless.

"Stop being pessimistic, could you? Just for this once, huh?" I requested provocatively. I tilted my head and rose my left brow. "You better keep your mouth shut, if you can't suggest anything helpful." I looked away as I rolled my eyes.

Colt scoffed, "They drenched and  drowned me as they asked some bullshits." she caught my attention as her tone changed. "I kept my fucking mouth shut since they brought me here, and now, you won't let me speak?"

I got startled as her voice echoed inside the room.

I am too stunned to rebut. She stared at me as though my soul was pierced. I gulped as my heart skipped a beat.

"You two! Three meters rule! Ah! There you go again?" Ryde inferred with us.

I immediately stood up and lose the gap between Colt. Ako na mag-a-adjust. Palagi naman, kabanas!

Colt moved and fixed her posture. "We have no other choice, Ryde." she then paused, "We'll either get drowned or get killed by those jerks up there."

Ryde looked at her sharply. "Then, it's violence I guess," he declared.

Wala na kaming inaksayang sandali. Ryde's command is final. We'll use the elevator to leave this place.

"Jake, in our assembly spot, do you copy?" Ryde talked to Jake before we go.

"Copy, Harrison," Jake replied to him then vanished again from the other line.

Nagsimula na kaming maglakad palabas. Ngunit nang bumukas ang pinto maraming na ang nakaabang sa labas ng silid. Shit!

Iilang kalalakihan ang tahimik na nakatayo at pinakikiramdaman ang susunod naming galaw.

Nanatili rin kaming nakatayo at walang nagtangkang magsalita. Ngunit biglang may babaeng lumitaw mula sa likuran ng mga lalaking nakatayo sa harap namin.

"Verity—" agad kong pinigilan ang pagsigaw ng pangalan niya.

Tutulungan niya ba kami ulit na makatakas?

Agad akong napagawi sa pwesto ni Ryde at sinuri ang reaksyon niya. Gaya nang una nilang pagkikita gano'n pa rin kablangko ang ekspresyon na ipinapakita niya.

At nang binalik ko ang tingin sa gawi ni Verity, napaatras kaming tatlo nina Ryde at Colt. Mabilis na umikot si Verity nang tumatapak siya sa pader. Bumanda siya ro'n at dahil sa ginawa niya ay napukaw niya ang atensyon ng mga lalaki.

Pagtapak ni Verity sa sahig ay sunod-sunod siyang naghagis ng maliliit na strap tasers. Kumapit iyon sa mga binti ng kalalakihan at naging dahilan para sabay-sabay silang mangisay sa kuryenteng dumadaloy sa katawan nila.

Binasag ni Verity ang katahimikan na namayani sa'min.

Umayos siya nang tayo mula sa pagkakabanat pagilid ng kaniyang kanang binti. Habang ang kaliwang paa at kamay ay nakatukod sa sahig.

"Seems like, fate's playing cards with us." she turned her chin upwards and looked at us. "You already owe me twice, and I won't just settle for a simple thanks."

Ryde stepped forward and came closer to her. "What do you want, then?" he gave her a sharp stares.

Verity then, fought Ryde's gaze. She plastered a threatening smirk. "Be one of the Gorgons, and these lame people will live."
