It was the middle of the night when Y/N heard the doors to the basement she was being kept in burst open, and multiple sets of footsteps bound down the stairs.

She was terrified to say the least, she didn't know who could be coming down those stairs next. Over the three years she'd been here they've had so many different girls her age or younger come through the doors but they always got on his bad side. Y/N knew better.

Suddenly the basement lights flicker on and in front of her stands a bunch of people in blue FBI vests with guns in their hands.

"F/N L/N? You're safe now. We're with the FBI. My name's Spencer Reid. We have the man who hurt you in custody." Says a man with curly hair as he gets the lock on the crate unlocked before swinging the door open and offering the girl his hand.

Y/N's eyes start to water as she gulps, "I'm... I'm finally safe?" The girl meekly whispers, taking the doctors hand and stepping out of the cage, her legs wobbling under her since she hasn't stood in weeks.

"You're finally safe. Let's get you to the hospital to get you checked out okay?" Spencer says calmingly, holding her arm to lead her up the stairs.

Y/N tries to climb the stairs but falls, Spencer catching her before she can hit the ground, "Y/N I may have to carry you, if you don't mind."

"G-Go ahead my legs are too weak.. I've been in there for over a month." Y/N says, her voice never leaving the whispery tone.

Spencer carefully picks her up bridal style into his arms and carries her up the stairs to the awaiting ambulance outside of Oliver Branson's house.

Y/N gets placed onto the stretcher inside of the ambulance by Spencer before he gets ready to leave she grabs ahold of his FBI issue jacket.

"S-Spencer can you stay, please? You make me feel safe." She says quietly, hoping he'll ride with her to the hospital so she doesn't have to be all alone.

"Of course I can. I'll be right here the whole ride." He says as he sits on the bench near the bed, informing Hotch of what he was doing before the other person in the ambulance shuts the door and they start the ride to the hospital.

Not long after the ride to the hospital begins Y/N can feel her eyes getting heavy as they slowly close, the girl already so exhausted just from trying to walk up the stairs.

When Y/N wakes up she's blinded by the fluorescent hospital lights in the room, after blinking a few times to adjust her eyes she weakly lifts herself onto her elbows before looking around the room, noticing Spencer Reid fast asleep in one of the arm chairs.

The girl was shocked that he stayed with her for so long, waiting on her to wake up so she didn't have to be alone when she finally woke up.

Suddenly the door to her room swings open to reveal a nurse coming to check on her, not knowing she woke up yet, "Ahh, Miss L/N, you're finally awake. How are you feeling?"

"I'm alright.. a bit thirsty though, could I have some water?" She quietly asks.

"Of course let me go get a glass of water for you and then I'll check your vitals and leave you to it alright?" The nurse replies with a kind smile on her face.

Y/N nods in response as the nurse heads out of the room to get the water, and little did she know the chatter in the room had awoken the sleeping Spencer.

"Y/N, you're awake. I got worried when you passed out in the ambulance. How are you feeling now?" He asks her as he moved to sit in the chair beside her bed.

"I'm okay, a little bit dizzy but I'm glad to be out of that cage.." She whispers quietly, "So, tell me, what happens to me when I'm okay enough to leave this hospital?"

"We couldn't find any living members of your family so-" Spencer starts, getting cut off.

"So I'm being thrown into the system?" The girl blatantly says, knowing she's still two years from being a legal adult.

"Actually no. You were going to be, but, if you want to I can be your caregiver and take care of you so you don't have to be. You seem to feel safe around me and you're a sweet girl." Spencer says, a warm smile on his face.

"R-Really? You'd do that for me?" Y/N asks the man in front of her.

"Yeah, I have an extra room in my apartment and you can decorate it any way you like. What do you say?" He replies.

"I'd love to come live with you Spencer. Thank you so much." Y/N says, hugging him tightly.

After the hug subsides the nurse walks in with Y/N's glass of water, handing it to her before going to check her vitals and everything she needed to do before exiting the room again.

Two weeks went by and Y/N was finally being released from the hospital and the team had all decorated Spencer's apartment for her homecoming, everyone on the team having bonded with her over the past two weeks and growing to love the girl who fit in so well to their little family.

So they all waited in the living room, hiding in their respective spots with the lights off because Spencer texted them that he was picking her up from the hospital now.

Y/N had just gotten dressed in the pair of jeans and red striped t-shirt Spencer had brought her, saying that Penelope helped him pick it out. He added his own touch in, getting the girl her own pair of converse that match his own.

She smiles at her outfit in the mirror, feeling the happiest she has felt in a long time and it's all thanks to Spencer Reid and the BAU who have became her new family.

The girl takes a deep breath, stepping out of the bathroom and smiling at Spencer, finally ready to head to her new home, "I'm ready now."

"Then let's go home Y/N. I bet you're ready to be out of this hospital." Spencer says with a smile as he signs her out before the two of them walk out to his car.

Spencer opens the car door for her, waiting until she gets in to shut it and walk over to the drivers side, getting in and starting the car before driving towards their apartment where the team awaited them.

The car ride to the apartment didn't take very long and when they arrived Spencer opened the door for her again, leading her to their apartment after texting the team.

Once they arrive at the door Spencer opens it up and turns on the light, Y/N walks into the room as the team pop out of their hiding spots yelling, "Welcome home Y/N!"

Happy tears well up in her eyes as she smiles, "Thank you all. I'm so glad to be home. And I get pizza? And cake?"

"Yes! I baked the cake and ordered the pizzas and everyone decorated and we are watching a movie marathon of all your favorites." Penelope says with a proud smile on her face.

Everyone enjoys their time together, eating cake and pizza as they watch their movies, completely finishing all the food they had as it got later.

Around ten pm Y/N had fallen asleep with her head on Spencer's shoulder, the team all realizing how late it was and slowly dispersing from their apartment until it was just Y/N and Spencer.

He carefully gets up without waking her and locks the door before picking her up and gently carrying her to her new bedroom, tucking her under the covers before closing her door and heading to his own bedroom to fall asleep for the night.

It had been four months since Y/N had moved in with Spencer and it has been the best four months of her life. He's always there when she needs him.

Which is why it was currently three in the morning and she was cracking the door open to his bedroom with tears streaming down her face because she had a nightmare.

Y/N gently shook him awake, sniffling as she does, "S-Spence?"

His eyes flutter open and he takes in the crying girl in front of him, "What's the matter Y/N, did you have a nightmare?"

She nods and sniffles again as he motions for her to join him in bed for cuddles to make her feel better.

When she climbs into bed Spencer wraps his arms around her body, holding her close to him as he soothingly sang her to sleep.

Soon after Spencer started singing to her the girl had passed out with her head on Spencer's chest. This made the older man smile as he closed his own eyes, falling asleep after making sure she was okay.

The two had become like brother and sister, almost inseparable. Both making sure the other was okay at all times.

And they are all a big happy family.
