Creeper Vines

---Cross' POV----

The forest was dark, cutting of all sunlight. A strange green mist that seemed to glow was our only source of light.

I glanced at the others nervously, they were also looking around cautiously, looking for anything that could pose as a threat.

I looked up ahead to see Nightmare had stopped. In this light all you could see of him was a black silhouette and his glowing blue eye.

I hurried over to him, and the others quickly followed.

"You need to listen." Nightmare said seriously. "You see this path?" He said, indicating to the dirt track we were walking on. No more ash thank God.

We all nodded. "Whatever you do don't leave this path. Out beyond the safety of this little dirt track are venojans, skebrids, poisonous flowers and creeper vines. (Idk what I'm writing plz send help)

"Why do all of those sound like they want to kill us?" Dust asked.

"Because they do." Nightmare replied. We all looked at each other. "That's fine." Killer muttered. "We should be used to people trying to kill us by now."

We all lapsed into silence, all thinking the same thing Killer was.

"Let's move." Nightmare said. "If we don't faff then we should be there within the hour."

He looked directly at Lust on the word 'faff '. Lust took a step back a surprised expression on his face, holding his hands up in the air.

Nightmare rolled his eye and walked on. I made sure that I was by his side. "So umm were all those things you just talked about real... or were they also fake to keep us moving?"

He glanced at me. "Deadly serious."

I gulped and looked into the darkness of the trees, attempting to see anything that could resemble the random names of what Nightmare had warned us about.

All I could see was black.

We had been walking for about ten minutes when we came across a half fallen tree. It had collapsed and fallen onto another tree on the other side of the path.

And hanging from the half fallen tree were vines. Lots of them. Nightmare slowed to a stop and whispered to the others to freeze.

I watched curiously as he walked over to the edge of the path, leant down and pick up a sturdy looking piece of branch.

He walked slowly over to the vine covered tree blocking our path, holding the branch out in front of him.

As he neared the vines they began to twitch, slithering about like snakes. He poked one of them with the bit of branch.

The reaction was immediate.

The vines ripped the wood from Nightmares hands and snapped it in half, as if it were a mere twig.

"I'm guessing that's a creeper vine?" Error said slowly.

Nightmare nodded. "Try not to make any noise. And whatever you do, don't attempt to teleport!"

"Why?" Horror hissed.

"They'll sense it and be on you in a flash. Only releasing you when every bone in your body has been snapped."

"Of course." Horror muttered.

"What do we do then?" Dust whispered.

"Distract them." Nightmare said, walking over to the edge of the path again and leaned down picking up another branch.

He grabbed about three stick/branch fragments and then covered them with the goop of his tentacles. "Their attracted to warmth and life." He said.

"So that's a decoy?" I asked.

"Yeah, pretty much."

"Our life rests in the hands of some wood and slime." Dust said. "That's just great."

"Get ready." Nightmare whispered. We all inched closer, Nightmare slowly lifted the decoy and chucked it at the corner of the tree.

The vines snapped to life slithering over to the stick, wrapping round it. A small opening had formed.

"Go!" Nightmare whispered.

He ran forward, ducking through the gap, with me close behind. We got through no problem. The vines to focused on the decoy to notice us.

Dust came next, Killer soon after. Still no problem. Lust sprinted through clearly terrified. Horror was last. He cautiously walked past seemingly fine.
We all breathed out in relief.

That's where everything went wrong.

The vines had lost interest in our decoy. They must have heard us because they shifted and started snaking their way towards us.

"Look out!" I whispered.

But it was too late.

A vine lashed out and grabbed round Lusts ankle.

We all froze.

"Lust... Don't... Move..." Nightmare said inching closer.

Lust was shaking. Quiet whimpers escaping his mouth. 'Help' he mouthed.

The vine wrapped itself firmly around Lusts leg. Then it stopped.

None of us moved a muscle.

A single sharp intake of breath came from Lust.

That triggered it.

The vine convulsed suddenly. And a loud snap echoed throughout the forest...

---Genos POV----

I had been placed in a temporary cell while they prepared my 'special prison' which in my case was the literal grim reapers house.

Lucky me.

My temporary cell was rather dull. A bed, a toilet and grey stone walls. Almost as bad as that white room.

I studied the cracks on the floor to pass the time, it was like a mini maze, but with no goal or escape.

I looked up at the sound of footsteps. The all too familiar face of Reaper popped up, that grin still wide on his face.

"Wake up princess." He called.

"I am awake." I muttered, standing up and walking over to the bars.

"Now before we move you there's something I need to do." I raised an 'eyebrow' at him.

"And what might that be?" I asked.

Reaper suddenly reached through the bars and grabbed my hands, pulling them towards him. I stumbled forward at the sudden move.

"WOAH WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR?!?!" I yelled.

Reaper smirked and held up my hands to show they had been handcuffed. "Couldn't you have done that a bit... less sudden?" I asked.

"Now where's the fun in that?" He chuckled, unlocking the cell with one of the many keys attached to his belt.

The doors slid open loudly and Reaper bowed. "Lady's first."

I growled at him. He looked up at me and smirked in response.

I walked slowly forward, out of my cell into the long corridor where all the other prison cells were.

Reaper shut the door cell door behind me, locked it, then nudged me on.

I stumbled forward, nearly falling over. I regained my balance and walked past the other cells, attempting to ignore the stares coming from other prisoners in their cells.

I looked into a cell at random to see a rather familiar skeleton sat on their bed staring at the wall.

"Fresh?!?"

The skeleton turned, I took in the shades and gold tooth. Yup it was him.

"Holy- Geno is that you bro?" He said, scrambling off the hard bed and over to the bars.

"You got caught?"

"How'd you figure that out?" I asked sarcastically.

"But how?"

"Roof was wet. I slipped."

Fresh sighed. "We all warned you that would happen one day."

Suddenly I felt myself being pushed forward. "As much as I love family reunions, we gotta move princess."

"Cya Broski!" He called. I waved in response.

Reaper continued to push me forward, round a maze of corridors and rooms.

"How do you know where your going?" I asked.

"Oh well five years of being here has given me just enough time to memorise this place. I'm nothing like the chief though. He could find his way through this building with his eyes closed."

I didn't respond.

After a few more twists we reached the main entrance. A black car was parked outside.

"Well then princess." Reaper said.

"Your carriage awaits."
