Chapter 6

Sasuke Uchiha's POV

I run through short cuts and alleys as fast as I can. They found me. They found my location. Damn them. . . I keep running, trying to get to my Plan B, which is located just outside of the worst neighborhood in the city.

The back of my black hoody flows behind me, as I sprint to a speed that no normal person could go. I've been running my whole life, so it's not that strange. My feet take me the back way, which is mostly unknown to most people, because those bastards on South Avenue blocked it off, but I can jump over it easily. And so I do.

The dirty, old apartment building is in my view, and I immedietly start toward the fire escape. It seems every building in the city has a fire escape, so it's easy for me to hide. I finally run up three steps at a time, and jump through the small window. Once I'm inside, I put the board up, that I created a long time ago.

Panting, I look around, and it looks like no one got in. Good. I wouldn't have had to rush here, if it weren't for those damn detectives finding me, especially that girl. I've heard about her. She's always in newspapers, because she solves the most difficult cases. I tend to eavesdrop when others are talking, so that keeps me updated on the people who are trying to arrest me.

I should have a grudge against that girl, but I'm at fault. She probably wouldn't have found me, but I couldn't resist the urge to intimidate and scare her. She seems too. . . easy. The fact that she was distracted so easily, makes me think I can get away with this. When I first discovered an extremely smart and successful detective was going to be the head of investigating me, I was quite worried. I've gotten away with a lot so far, but only because amateur detectives were investigating my cases, but now she is trying to take me down. So far, she hasn't impressed me. I'm not scared of her.

I sit down on the small couch on the far side of the room, and sit down in it, trying to cool down for a second. I put my head in my hands, and begin thinking about this whole mess. If they say she's that amazing, then this should be easy for her. I'm not going to underestimate her. She knows how to slide past a tough situation just by using words. I made that conclusion after my confrontation with her at the bed and breakfast.

I stop thinking for a second, and bring my head up a few inches from my head, and stare in front of me, and smirk. I can't decide quite yet that I'm going to get away with this without getting caught, so I'm going to keep a close eye on this case.

The only way to do that is by watching her.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Night began to fall, and I walked through the narrow alleys between buildings. I tend to not go into public, unless I'm retrieving items I need. Other than that, I like to keep my distance from any civilians. Once I'm near the Konoha Police Department, I find a fire escape on the building across from the Police Department building, and go up the steps. Once I'm on the roof, I crouch down, and lay my on my thighs, as I watch the doors. I don't know her schedule, so I'll have to wait it out. I don't even know if she's left or not.

Only time will tell.

The time has come sooner than I thought. I watch as she walks out of the building, a frustrated expression painted on her face. Next, she gets into her car, and before she drives away, I study the car and squint my eyes to read the license plate. I watch the car go a few yards, but stops at a red light. I use this to my advantage.

I turn to my side, and look at the building's rooftop next to me. My eyes begin to fill with determination, and I begin to sprint towards the edge of the building. When the time became right, I leaped from the building I was currently on, and my feet connect with the aluminum top of the other building, and I sigh, feeling relieved. I've been doing this type of thing for a while, but it's always unpredictable what may happen every single time I jump from roof to roof. Not to mention, it can take it's toll on me. Scars have formed across my body, from painful scrapes and cuts.

I look towards her car, and the light turns green. I move to the other side of the building, and watch her car make a right turn. The building by this one is only a few feet in distance from each other, so it's not hard at all to jump across.

After a few more turns of her car, she approaches a normal apartment building. I watch as she enters the building, and I smirk. I now know what street she lives on. I exit the roof of the building from it's fire escape, and look both ways before crossing the narrow street to get to her apartment building. I don't want to be spotted.

Once I make my way through the street, I begin walking up the stairs of the fire escape. Now comes the hard part. I have to look for her room, just by looking through stranger's windows. After about three stories of windows, I finally watch as she takes out her low pony-tail, brushes her fingers through the pink strands, then go into another room. So, she's located on the fourth floor, third window to the left. Perfect.

It's very dark outside and I'm wearing dark clothing, so it won't be easy to spot me. After a while of watching her order pizza and eat a lot of slices, she puts the pizza box in the fridge, and goes to another room. It's probably her bedroom.

I try tracking her bedroom window, and finally found it, but there's a ledge on the outside, so that's my only support. The moonlight is shining on her face, and I tilt my head to the side, as I notice her face is drenched in beads of sweat. She keeps moving around and I could hear faint mumbling. I watch as she grabs the sheets.

"No!" She shouted, and began to pant.

To avoid her spotting me, I placed my back on the side of the wall, and sighed a breath of relief. I leave the apartment building, and go to my living quarters.

~*~*~*~*~*~

She hasn't noticed my figure watching her through the window. Haruno grabs a slice of pizza from the fridge, and leaves. Now's my chance. I grab my small pocket knife, and place it in the slit under the window. With one swift motion, the window opened. I smirked, and closed it.

~*~*~*~*~*~

It's almost midnight, and I sneak into her apartment. I wasn't able to get any food for tonight, so this is my last resort. Once I'm in her apartment, I snoop around through the pantry and the fridge. All I spotted was a box of pizza from the night before. I took it out of the fridge, and opened it up. There was half a pizza. I haven't had pizza in years. . . I'm taking a huge risk stealing this.

Once the pizza is in my hands, the sound of a key going into a lock is heard through out the apartment, and I curse under my breath. There's no time to leave through the window, so I go into the bathroom, which is located on the opposite side of the apartment. I put the pizza box on the floor quietly, and stand in the darkness.

I hear her sigh, and open the fridge. Quiet footsteps go near her room, which is across the bathroom. My eyes examine her from behind, as she has her gun raised. She knows someone's here. As she takes a few steps into her room, I use my quiet speed to go behind her. Her hair slightly moves to the side, and she barely turns her head, when my elbow connects with her head, causing her to collapse on her side. Her eyes slightly open, but soon close.

I step around her, and tilt my head to the side, as I examine her face. I've never been able to actually look at her face. She's quite attractive. Any male would say that.

"Hn." I say, as I scoop her up into my arms, and walk into the darkness of her room.

She groans, but I ignore it, as I set her down on her bed. Even though it's dark, I notice a small lamp on her bed-side table, and turn it on. The room becomes dimly lit, but the moonlight that shines through her curtains in her bedroom make up for it.

I have to leave.

Once I enter the kitchen, I grab the pizza box. I make my way to the window, and position myself in front of it. I stop, and turn my head towards the bedroom. My eyes fall to the pizza box, and I roll my eyes at my sympathetic thoughts.

Searching the cabinets, I find a white plate, and I take a slice of pizza, and set it neatly on the plate. I notice a notepad and pen on the counter, and smirk.I already messed up by coming here, but I can make up for it by blackmailing her. She won't dare tell anyone.

I set the note I wrote, and the plate of pizza on her bed-side table, and leave with the pizza box in hand.

~*~*~*~*~*~

It was well after 10 at night the next day when I followed her towards the entrance of South Avenue. She knows. . . Smart. It's a stupid idea for her to go into this neighborhood all by herself. I already know what will happen to her, but I know she has a gun. As much as I hate it, I want to see how well she can handle herself. . . Without a weapon. Detectives go through physical training.

When she's not looking, I swiftly take the gun from her purse, and quickly, yet quietly hide behind a wall. I listen as her footsteps go into South Avenue. I climb the fire escape across from me, and begin following her from above.

"Hey! Where ya goin', doll face?" A guy asks.

I squint my eyes at her reaction. She keeps walking.

"Wait up!" Another says.

She just keeps walking.

"You're too slow!" They taunt.

She sprints, but they keep jogging at the same pace. They have her, but she doesn't know it. Otherwise, they would be running to get her.

In the distance, I see someone drag her into an alley, and I grit my teeth and exit the roof of the building. My steps take my quickly to the other side of the street, and I finally place myself on a low building, where I can watch the scene without being caught.

She gets thrown against a wall.

"Come on over, guys! I got her!" The man yells.

He approaches her, and crouches in front of her sitting body and says, "She's a hot one too." He smirks.

I grab the handle of my Katana from the sheath behind my back, but release it, when she kicks the guy in the face, and he falls back. I smirk. Nice one. She looks through her bag, and mumbles the word 'no' a few times. She can't find her gun. . .

The others approach her, and one says, "She's a feisty one."

"What do we got here?" One says, as he takes her bag and looks through it, "We've got us a detective, boys!" He shouts, and examines her badge and ID.

Another guy leans over her, and grabs her face roughly, while turning her head left and right, and examining her like a toy, "Hell yes. She's a keeper." He says.

She knees him under his chin, gets up, and punches another in the face. When she pulls back her elbow to strike another guy, one comes in front of her, and grabs her waist, and pushes her against a wall.

"I like a girl who can fight." I hear him whisper.

A fallen one gets up, and grabs his nose, and screams, "This bitch made my nose bleed!"

The guy towering over her, grins and says, "Don't worry, she'll get her punishment."

Haruno knees him somewhere a guy would never want to be kneed, and when she attemps to run for it, one of them picks her body up, and slams her against the wall, while the back of her head hits the wall. I stare at her, as she winces. The same guy grabs her hips roughly, and smacks his lips against hers, as the others gather around to watch.

I jump down from the building behind them, and take my Katana out of the sheath, and grab the guys collar. He gets sent flying back, and I bend down, and slice his neck.

The others turn around, and come towards me. I smirk. Six to go. They charge at me all at once, but I was able to kill two off at once, by swinging my sword at their necks. Another hops on my back, but I move backwards towards a wall and slam him against him, as I target his neck from behind, and he falls off me.

I walk slowly towards the terrified one in front of me, but another charges towards me from the side. I pay no attention to him, and just swing my Katana, sending him to collapse. Once I'm close enough to the one who stands in front of Haruno, I grab him, turn him around, and wrap my arm around his head.

I whisper in his ear, "You sick bastard," and swipe the sword across his neck, making splatters of blood fly on Haruno's face.

He falls face first, and I jerk my Katana to the side, getting rid of the blood. My eyes land on Haruno, and her eyes are squinted, staring at me. I make my way towards her, and crouch in front of her. Her eyes close.

I notice the blood splatters on her face, and grab her cheek with my hand. My thumb moves over the blood to get rid of it, but doesn't do much.

"Tch." I say, and look at the ID on the ground.

I pick up the laminated card, and smirk. Sakura Haruno, 25, Female. I gather her things in her bag, and put the gun in as well. I drape the bag over my left shoulder, and walk towards Sakura. I pick her up one handedly, and sling her over my right shoulder. I lay my arm on her back so she won't fall, and make my way outside South Avenue.

~*~*~*~*~*~

I place her down gently on the couch, and grab a wash cloth. I use a little bit of water, and place the wet cloth on her face, and remove the blood. I tilt my head, and keep staring at her.

"Hn." I grab a blanket, and drape it over her.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Once I exit the other room, candle in hand, I notice movement on the couch. I stand in front of the boarded up window, nonetheless, and light it with the cigarrette lighter.

"I know you're awake." I tell her, without looking at her.

I hear her slightly gasp, and I turn towards her, and watch as she tries to sit up, but winces. She stares at me.

"Hn." I say, then turn away from her.

"I can't believe this," She whispers, "How could I let this happen. . .?"

I furrow my eyebrows, still not looking at her, "You should be thanking me"

"Thank you for what?"

I chuckle, light another candle, and say, "If you were a good detective, then you should know I saved you."

After a moment of silence, she snaps, "Did you steal those candles too?"

I turn towards her and smirk, "Yes."

"Damn you," I hear the blanket fall on the ground, "I'm leaving."

I turn around, and she begins walking to the door. I come behind her, and pull her back, postitioning her to where I can speak into her ear.

"Like I said," I whisper, "Tell anyone where I am or what happened tonight, and I'll kill your friend. Don't underestimate me, because I will. Sakura." I slur.

I release her from my hold, and grab her bag, holding it out to her.

"Your gun's in there." I say, as she takes the bag.

"You planned this." She glares.

I shrug, "I took the bullets out, so good luck trying to shoot me. And I suggest you take the back entrance if you don't want to get assulted again."

She shakes her head, "Why didn't you let me get harrassed back there?"

I tilt my head to the side, squint my eyes, and give her a playful smirk, "Why would I. . . Detective?"

"I'm trying to take you down." Sakura states.

I close my eyes, "I'm still winning. You're getting no where with your investigation."

"How are you so sure?" She strikes back.

I minds as well tell her.

I begin staring intently at her, "I'm watching you."

She gasps, and stares at me in awe.

I scoff at her, "Don't be flattered."

Sakura turns away from me, and places her hand on the door knob, "You don't know what I'm capable of."

Then she leaves.

My smirk grows wide. We'll see.

Wew, this was a long chapter to write xD

I know this was kinda boring, but I thought it would be fun to put this in Sasuke's POV!
