Chapter 6: Dead Girl Calling- Case #2: Part 2
"Are you Sergeant Wilson?" The woman who I presume is Venus slowly approaches us.
"The one and only." I flash a quick smile while the woman approaches us.
"Venus Viper. Sergeant Wilson I have something to tell you and it's very important!" I could see she was slightly distressed but now that I could hear her voice clearly it didn't sound so... Feminine.
"Right, please follow us Venus, we also have some questions to ask you." She nods her head and follows us to the interrogation room.
Info: Suspect 4
Name: Venus Viper
Age: 34
Occupation: Entertainer

Hair colour: Black
Eye colour: Brown

"So Venus, you are suspect in a murder investigation." She sighs and glances at us.
"I know, I've been notified about it. I know I didn't agree with the vision that Velvet had for the Yellow Dove but after she explained it to me and my part I reconsidered and wanted to help her; I guess I was too late. Now I'm worried that the person who killed Velvet is the one threatening me." I could hear the shakiness in her voice as she hands us her phone to read a text message.
Venus! I know what you and Velvet have planned to do with the Yellow Dove. If you don't stop what you guys have planned you will meet the same fate! Understand me Venus?! Think carefully about your next move or you will be gutted like a pig!!
"I-I'm scared! I don't know what to do!" A tear slowly escapes her eye and dances down her cheek.
"Could Alex find out who sent the message if we give him Venus' phone?" Knowles looks at me curiously giving Venus some hope.
"Possibly, let's try it. Knowles you stay here and make sure Venus calms down before we let her go." Knowles gives me a small nod while I head to Alex's office once again.
I can so get used to seeing his face more than once during every investigation. Oh god listen to me! I sound so love sick.
I reach his office door and knock causing him to look up and give his gorgeous smile at me.
"Back so soon?" He tries to hide the excitement in his voice which causes me to smile brightly.
"Yeah!" I approach him and hand him Venus' phone. "Can you find out who sent that message, its got Venus all worked up." He nods his head before doing what he does best with technology.
"The person who sent this text is a certain Zack Hudson. He's a bouncer at the Yellow Dove. Judging by this threatening message he clearly isn't happy with what the victim or Venus had planned." He gives a small frown before handing me the phone.
"Seems like it, looks like I need to bring in this Zack Hudson for interrogation." Alex gives a small nod before smiling at me. I ruffle his hair and he narrows his eyes and pouts.
"Ugh! You don't listen do you?" He continued to pout while I flashed a smirk.
"What? It's not my fault you're too adorable and cute-" Realising what I said I cut myself off before Alex widens his eyes slightly looking at me.
I open my mouth to say something but nothing comes out. He cocks a brow before shooing me away and I leave but not so reluctantly.
For fucks sake I have a case of mouth diarrhoea and it's stinking up my dignity.
I head back to the interrogation to see Venus dabbing her eye with a tissue before she sees me.
"Oh Sergeant Wilson! Did you find out who sent it? Are you going to bring them in? Am I safe?" She was firing questions one after another so fast that I couldn't even answer her first question.
"Whoa. Whoa. Slow down for a second Venus. Yes I found out who sent the message. Zack Hudson, does that name ring a bell?" She rolls her eyes before crossing her arms over her chest.
"Yes that name does ring a bell. He likes to harass the girls that work there. Especially... Oh what was her name? Cherry something." She taps her acrylic nails on the table.
"Cherry Louise." I almost gasp in shock. Cherry never said anything about the Bouncer harassing her.
"That's her! Cherry Louise! Cute little thing she is. Considering you're doing an amazing job I know you'll bring in Zack for questioning which makes me feel safe." She gives a small smile before I hand her phone back.
"Well we're both glad that you feel safe now Venus." Knowles smiles while closing her notebook. Venus gives a nod before getting up to leave.
"If that's all I guess I'll take my leave and put on some hand sanitiser, my hands are starting to feel all clammy from them being sweaty. Thanks again Sergeant Wilson." She gives a small smile and leaves the interrogation room.
"I noticed the bruise on Venus' face Sergeant Wilson... I'll note that down." I give her a small nod as she writes down the suspect's profile.
We need to bring in this Zack Hudson to the station, plus I should go back to the crime scene. See what else I can find.
"When you're finished with that Knowles could you bring Zack to the station?" She gives a quick nod while I leave to the crime scene once again.
*Knowles P.O.V*
This investigation is so confusing. Everyone is accusing everybody else and then claiming their innocence when questioned.
Ugh!
Why is everything so hard? This is my dream job yet here I am thinking it would be easy. Silly silly Tyra Knowles. Anyways enough worrying I need to bring in Zack Hudson. Maybe I could ask Alex to call him? Maybe that would work?
I walk to his office and cautiously knock on the door. He looks up at me with a surprised expression before it slowly becomes a smile.
"Detective Knowles, how can I help you?" His smile makes me less nervous. I can see why Sergeant Wilson likes him, he is pretty adorable.
Excuse me while I go and slap myself.
"I'm just wondering if you could call a certain Zack Hudson to the station?" He nods his head and starts to dial a number which I presume is Zack's.
"Hello Mr. Hudson, it's Alex Foster from the Rosebrooke Police Department... Yes... Mhm, I'm going to need you to come down to the station... Yes it's urgent... Right away please... Thank you Mr. Hudson, goodbye..." Alex sighs and rubs his temples before looking up at me at mouth 'he should be here in a couple of minutes' and I nod my head and go to leave.
"How's Sergeant Wilson?" I turn around to see Alex waiting patiently for me to answer his question.
"Umm... Yeah he's good..." He cocks his brow at me while I fiddle with my hair.
He knew I was keeping something from him. It's not like I could just say 'Yeah he's good, just admitted to having feelings for you when we were in the car but other than he's totally fine!'
Ugh! If he keeps on pushing it I'm going to crack and spill the beans, this is why I hate knowing stuff other people didn't know because I would cave into pressure.
"Just good?" He looks at me with his brow still cocked.
"Great actually." My voice came out higher than usual and I mentally slap myself for it.
"Why's that?" He pushed cautiously.
"Dunno." I shrugged causing him to lower his eyebrow.
"If you say so." He looks back at his computer and continues to do whatever he was doing on it before.
"I know you like him Alex and there's nothing wrong with it." I say in a non-threatening way but Alex still stiffens in his chair.
"Is it that obvious?" His eyes were widened and I could see him slightly distressed that I knew, well figured it out.
"Us females tend to analyse things a lot more than you males do. It's kinda obvious to us while you males are idiots- Uhh, no offence or anything." I hold my hands up in defence but Alex just smiles.
"None taken, also... Could you not announce it to anyone, I might be gay and all but I don't want this to effect Sergeant Wilson. I see he loves what he does and I'll only get in the way of that... This crush will only get in the way of that." He looked disappointed and sad by the time he finished and my natural instincts kicked in and I hugged him.
I could feel him tensing before he started to cry. I rub slow circles on his back to comfort him, he pulls away and sniffles.
"I just really like him and it's hard." He pushes the heel of his palms in his eyes to stop himself from crying.
"I'm sure he will too, in his own time." I carefully worded so I didn't reveal it to Alex to make him more upset.
He gives me a doubtful smile before sitting back down in his desk.
"Thanks for that Detective Knowles, I needed that." He gives a small smile and I give him a smile back.
"You're welcome Alex, I should see if Mr. Hudson is here now." I give him a small wave and he waves back.
I leave his office and see a man with blonde hair walking in. He is wearing black jeans with black combat boots a leather vest and a black undershirt. I gulp at how intimidating he looks.
"Are you an officer that works here?" His voice was deep and masculine. He is literally the definition of the Hulk.
"Yeah... Are you Mr. Hudson?" I grab my notebook while he sighs.
"Yes, I'm Mr. Hudson." He looks at me with a bored expression.
Info: Suspect 5
Name: Zack Hudson
Age: 25
Occupation: Bouncer

Hair colour: Blonde
Eye colour: Blue
Height: 6'1
Weight: 86 kgs
Blood Type: A+
Accessories Gold Chain around neck
"Please follow me to the interrogation room Mr. Hudson." He closes his eyes and inhales a slow deep breath while I lead him to the interrogation room.
"Whatever this is for I would like to say that I didn't do it." He folds his arms over his chest and sits down on the chair.
"What about harassing the girls at the Yellow Dove?" I raise my eyebrow at him and he raises both of his before narrowing his eyes.
"They're prostitutes, it's their job to complete my needs when I want them too." He smirks at me while I write what he says with my ace scrunched up in distaste.
"And if these girls say no or indicate they don't want it in any way it's still harassment and you can get into big trouble. Maybe that's why you killed Velvet, after all she did have a vision didn't she?" He rolls his eyes and rests his elbows on the table.
"Yeah she did, according to Velvet the girl's weren't getting paid fairly. Sure I was getting paid more than them but that's because I'm the Bouncer. I have to stop all the drunken idiots from causing ruckus and all; let's be honest if there was a female Bouncer I'd still get paid more for the simple reason that I'm stronger because I'm male." I could feel my eyebrow twitch as I write down what he says.
Great, a misogynistic asshole is all I need.
"Such a shitty way of thinking you have, but that's not the point. The point is you're a suspect for the murder of Velvet and the fact that you threatened another makes you pretty suspicious." He gives me a blank look before answering.
"Look I didn't kill her." He folds his arms over his chest and raises his eyebrow at me.
"Mhm, well according to the evidence you have a pretty big motive and I'm going to hold you here." I close my notebook after finishing writing down what he said.
"You can't do that!" He gets to his feet and slams his hands against the table.
"I can hold you here for at least forty-eight hours, so sit down and shush. I'll let my partner decide if he will release you or not." I hold my notebook close to my chest and try to walk out once again.
"So I can't even go for a smoke?" He looks at me in disbelief while I raise my eyebrow at him.
"Nope!" I raise my voice a higher octave and smile at him causing him to huff as I leave the interrogation room.
I hope this investigation ends soon. If I have to deal with anymore rude, disrespectful and misogynistic males I'll scream, scream really loud, like really really loud.
Ugh! I also need to note down that Mr. Hudson has a bruise on his face, but first, I need a coffee.
*Wilson's P.O.V*
Well, didn't I achieve a lot going back to the crime scene. Rita and Jacob were near the crime scene, across the road from it in fact in the Gemini Hotel, so I asked them a few questions.
"So Rita, what can you tell me about Zack Hudson?" I prepare my tablet while I see Rita slightly shiver.
"Zack is nothing but a close-minded, misogynistic, perverted pig! Ugh! Just thinking about him makes me angry. He treats us girls like shit. Sure we understand that in our profession we need to fulfil people's needs but we're not going to do it in broad daylight and, I hate to say it, but without payment. We are not some cheap-ass take away meal you know?" She moves her hair out of face to reveal a bruise on her face.
I note that down on her profile while also typing down what she has said. It seems like Mr. Hudson isn't such a popular guy with the ladies by judging what has been said about him.
"Is that all Sergeant Wilson? I'd like to use my hand sanitiser my hands are starting to get all gross." She looks at her hands in disgust while sticking her tongue out.
"Just a quick question! Do you by any chance smoke?" She cocks her eyebrow at me and folds her arms over her chest.
"No, I don't. If you do Sergeant Wilson I suggest you give it up, that stuff kills you know. I can tell you who smokes though; Raylene, Jacob and Venus all smoke. Raylene is always smoking and asks Jacob for one and Venus only smokes in her break." She plays with her hair and waits for dismissal.
"Thank you Rita, that will be all." She gives a small smile and leaves.
Thanks to Rita I now know that Raylene, Jacob and Venus all smoke. I feel like we are making great progress with this investigation, especially since I found a bloody skewer, it could possibly be the murder weapon but I'm not sure. I need to have Trevor clarify it; I also asked Jacob- well Jazzy J some questions as well.
"Is this going to take long Sergeant Wilson? I'm really busy trying to keep business alive now that the Yellow Dove is a crime scene." He scratches his cheek and that's when I notice the bruise painted on his other cheek.
"Looks pretty painful, how did it happen?" I point to the bruise on his face and he chuckles.
"Oh that thing? I was walking around in the dark and tripped over something, which caused my face to slam on the floor." He chuckles again and looks at me while type stuff down on my tablet.
I had the sudden urge to be a smart ass and ask him if the floor was okay and if he apologised to it but now isn't the time nor place.
"I see, anyways do you know the behaviour of Zack Hudson and how he's harassing the girls?" He looks at me in slight confusion.
"He's harassing the girls? I didn't know that. I'll go talk to him right away, now if that's all I really need to get going but first I need look for Raylene to see if I can use a bit of her hand sanitiser; mine has run out." He gives a small wave and walks off
I finish typing up everything and shut my tablet off and go to the car with the evidence I found earlier.
It's amazing what just slips up from people, thanks to Jazzy J I now know him and Raylene both use hand sanitiser, this case is coming to a close end, I can feel it; unfortunately we're still missing a couple pieces of evidence but not for long.
However Jazzy J was pretty quick to end our conversation, I didn't even get to ask about the underpayment of the girls, after all that is one of things that got Velvet killed.
I walk in the station to see Knowles looking over her notes that are written in her notebook. She looks up and smiles at me.
"Sergeant Wilson! I have successfully interrogated Mr. Hudson, however I didn't let him go." She scratches her head nervously.
"Let me guess, it was because of motive and most of the evidence points to him?" She nods her head slowly, rubbing her wrists nervously.
"Yeah, he didn't like it very much. Especially because I said he couldn't smoke." She smirks and I couldn't help but chuckle.
"I'm guessing he gave a bad impression." She nods her head while I pull out the possible murder weapon in a bag.
"Oh my! What is that?" She widens her eyes at the bloody skewer.
"A skewer, possibly the murder weapon; I found it at the scene of the crime." Her mouth forms an 'O' and I start to walk to Trevor's office while Knowles follows. I knock on his office door and he looks up at me.
"Sergeant Wilson, I was just about to come looking for you." He smiles and ushers us both in.
"Well lucky I needed to give you something." I hold up the bag that contained the skewer and hand it to him.
"Wow, it must be my lucky day! Already receiving a present." We all laugh while he takes the skewer and examines it.
"Anyways, you must have something for me too if you were about to look for me." Trevor begins to examine the skewer, getting a blood sample and handing it to Veronica who conveniently walked into his office and placing some gold fragments on his desk.
"Ahh yes, well I decided to analyse the blood on the knives that were suspending the victim in case there was something missing and I discovered this." He points to a different desk where there were two knives, one was smaller than the other and had the indentation of three letters. J.V.S
"J.V.S?" Knowles looks at it slightly confused. J.V.S, J.V.S. Hmm... I got it!
"Jackie Velvet Starr. This belonged to the victim and judging by the size I say it's a pocket knife and what's the weird gold fragments on it?" I tilt my head slightly to the side and try to get a better look at the fragments.
"See that's the thing I want to tell you. I got some of the fragments off and sent them to Veronica." Trevor started to compare the wounds on the victim's torso to the skewer before analysing thoroughly.
"That's right! And what I discovered was rather interesting." Knowles looks at Veronica with eager eyes while she gets her notepad ready.
"Well?!" Knowles soon covers her mouth as the pitch of her voice slightly went an octave higher. We all laugh as she becomes red as a tomato.
"Anyways, the gold fragments were highly contaminated with the victim's blood but I discovered that the gold fragments come from jewellery, more specifically a gold chain. Now, my guess is that the victim knew she was going to get attacked and went to stab the killer with her pocket knife but the killer saw it coming and moved out of the way, causing the blade of the pocket knife to scrape across the gold chain." Knowles writes down the main clue which is the killer wears a gold chain.
"That theory is plausible and makes sense, at least now we know the killer is wearing a gold chain." I type down some of Veronica's theory and update all of the suspects' profile with the clues. We are so close to catching this killer, so close to putting them behind bars, I can feel it.
"Well, Knowles and Wilson; could you please follow me to my office, I might find something with this blood sample that Trevor found from the skewer." We both nod our heads and follow Veronica to her office.
"I'm positive the skewer is the murder weapon, I couldn't find anything else and because of the wound that the victim suffered it makes sense." Knowles nods her head in agreement as Veronica starts to analyse the blood sample that was given to her.
"I can't believe we've almost cracked this case Sergeant Wilson, it's my first case with you guys and I've learnt so much already!" Knowles smiles brightly while playing with her hair slightly.
"Huh, that's interesting." We both turn our heads and face Veronica.
"What is?" Knowles gives her a slightly confused look.
"Well, there are two different blood types from the skewer. One is clearly from the victim but the other doesn't match your victim which means this other blood type belongs to your killer and I can tell you your killer's blood type is A+" Knowles quickly writes down the main clue while I go through the suspects' profiles one last time.
"We have enough clues to finally arrest the killer!" I hand Knowles my tablet and she looks through the suspects' profiles and matches the clues with the right suspect.
"Let's go and arrest this sicko!" We quickly wave to Veronica and go to arrest the killer.

*At the courthouse*
Honourable Judge Mase slams his gavel down to silence the court so the trial can commence.
"Never in my day have I seen or heard of such a gruesome murder, a woman crucified to a wall is quite sickening and I didn't believe anyone could do it until Sergeant Wilson and his colleagues provided evidence that lead us to you Jacob Jackson." Judge Mase shakes his head slowly in disgust causing Jacob to snicker.
"I did what I had to do to protect my business." He smirks at Judge Mase who continues to shake his head.
"That's a horrible thing to say Jacob! You didn't want Velvet to buy the business because you knew she would fire you!" Cherry stands up with tears streaming down her face. "She was my friend!" Knowles quickly runs to Cherry and engulf her in a hug and slowly escorts her out of the courthouse.
"Velvet, or should I say Jackie was a whore! A prostitute! Nothing more! Someone of her social stature is not worthy of owning a business especially my business! That ungrateful bitch was complaining and whingeing about being underpaid, overworked and harassed. She's meant to please whoever wants it when they want it, if she couldn't handle the job she shouldn't of asked for it! Then the little skank tried to attack me with her pocket knife so I killed her, she tried to defy me and take my business so she had to go!" Jacob was getting heated with every sentence he spoke, banging his hands on the podium.
"You killed the victim simply because you felt threatened of being jobless? Because you can't handle a hard-working woman taking over your job? I cannot allow this unspeakable behaviour and action go unpunished so I sentence you to twenty five years in prison with no chance of parole! Court is adjourned." Judge Mase slams the gavel down dismissing everyone in the court room.
Sergeant Wilson and his colleagues start to leave the court room, he looks at Alex, nervously biting his bottom lip. Alex walks passed Sergeant Wilson who gently grabs his wrist. Alex looks at him with confusion before Sergeant Wilson pulls him closer to him and gently presses his lips to his.
Alex wraps his arms around Sergeant Wilson's neck and deepens the kiss for a minute before pulling away with a flushed face and a huge smile.
Sergeant Wilson and Alex look up to see Knowles watching them before giving them a thumbs up. They both smile and entwine their fingers together before joining up with the others.
