Chapter 69~

---Nightmare's POV----

"Do you even know where we're going?" I hissed, glaring at Fresh as he peered round yet another corner leading off to endless nothingness.

"Oh cuz I've lived here all my life and have memorised every single way down here bruh. Of course I don't know where we're going! I've just happened to end up at walking at the front!" Fresh hissed back, glaring at all of us through his shades. "If anyone should know their way round here, it's Cross!"

Cross flinched beside me, looking down at the floor as his grip on my arm tightened significantly.

"Leave him alone." I growled, my tentacles twitching. "You don't know what he's been through here."

Fresh snorted, looking up at the ceiling as he walked. "Well it would be nice to know actually, then we know what to expect if X catches us."

Cross looked around our surroundings weakly, his whole body shaking slightly from fear. "...I-I think I know where w-we are..."

Fresh clapped his hands together, falling back to help Ink support the still dazed and confused Error walk along with them. "Lead the way then, Cross."

I glared at him, but blinked in surprise as I felt Cross gently tug me along to the front of the group. "Huh?"

"It's okay Nighty..." He muttered. "I know this place, s-so I should be leading..."

I sighed, pulling him closer to my side as we walked. "If your sure..."

We walked down several more corridors, trusting Cross completely as he lead us down the labyrinth of a lab.

"Hey, Cross." Reaper called warily. "Is this place equipped with any traps? Or things that can hurt us?"

No sooner than he'd said that, Cross suddenly pulled me back against a wall, practically shoving me into it.

"Wh-Wha--"

"EVERYONE AWAY FROM THE CENTRE!" He called quickly, pressing against me as he watched the others stumble back.

At that moment, the floor seemed to split open, leading into a gaping blackness.

"H-Holy shit!" Horror yelped, stumbling back into the wall with Lust by his side. The two of them almost fell in.

"A LITTLE MORE WARNING NEXT TIME?! Geno screeched, windmilling his arms as he tilted over the edge slightly.

Reaper quickly lunged out, grabbing onto the back of his hoodie to prevent him from falling. "Careful!"

We stayed like that for a minute, pressed against the walls before the floor suddenly closed again, looking like nothing had even happened.

"Wh-What the hell was that?! Ink stuttered, clinging to the slightly more awake Error.

"Floor trap..." Cross mumbled, pulling me away from the wall and continuing to walk, pressing against my side.

"A-Are there more of those?!" Lust asked, looking down at the floor fearfully.

"Yeah...and there will be other traps as well..."

"This guy's a bloody psycho." Geno hissed, staying close by Reaper's side.

"Oh what a brilliant observation." I muttered, rolling my eye. "Most of us realised that ages ago. Catch up."

Geno glared sharply at me, but didn't say anything else, looking down at the floor as it seemed to let out a low groaning sound. "C-Cross is the floor going to open again?"

"No..." Cross mumbled, glancing up at the ceiling. "But soon enough something will come round again...don't worry..."

"Oh I'm going to worry." Geno hissed. "What even happens if you fall down there?!"

"You'll get crushed by invisible forces. The air will be snatched from your lungs and before you even have time to process what's happening you'll be dying." He whispered, his voice barely audible.

"What?"

"He said you'd die!" I hissed, rolling my eye. "So calm yourself and keep checking your surroundings. Oh and shut up, you won't hear any of Cross' warnings if you're screeching at each other."

The others all immediately went silent, muttering softly to each other as they eyed up Cross, looking for any signs that he'd spotted something dangerous.

"H-How do you know if something might happen?" Dust asked, sticking close to the walls as he kept Blue right by his side.

"If there seems to be a long abnormal line across the floor, then that's probably a floor traps. There are wall ones as well. Some sort of spears can shoot out at you, so be wary of those." Cross muttered, running a hand along the wall as he he walked. "I should be able to tell if a wall trap will happen...hopefully..."

"Hopefully?!" Reaper hissed. "You better know for certain or we'll die!"

I shot Reaper a death glare, intertwining my fingers around Cross', holding onto his spare hand reassuringly. "Possibly knowing is better than not knowing at all."

Reaper looked down, sighing. "Sorry...you're right..."

I snorted, turning my attention back to the seemingly never ending corridor stretching out in front of us. "Just keep an eye out. If you fall down, we're not going to rescue you."

Reaper looked like he was about to speak up, but Cross suddenly stopped abruptly, nearly making me trip over him.

"Cross?"

"E-Everyone away from the centre again! G-Go to the walls!" Cross cried, quickly clinging to my side as I instantly jumped back and pressed myself against the wall.

Everyone yelped, jumping back as the floor split open suddenly, even faster than the first time.

A screech from my right caused me to look around just in time to see Killer slipping and falling, his expression one of pure terror as he fell towards the pitch black opening.

On instinct I lashed out a tentacle, wrapping it round his waist before the darkness could swallow him up forever.

"Killer!" Dream yelled, looking panicked as he watched Killer cling to my tentacle, gasping.

I went to place Killer back down when Cross suddenly went tense next to me, shaking my arm frantically. Turning to look at him, I blinked. "Huh?"

"N-Nighty--"

I followed his terrified gaze, my eye widening as I caught sight of the figure stood at the end of the corridor.

X.

Fuck.

"Guys!" I hissed, frantically indicating over at the dark figure of X slowly walking towards us.

He almost seemed drunk, giggling softly and muttering to himself as he walked towards us, his claw-like hands scraping across the metal walls as he walked, making an irritating screeching sound ring out.

Everyone looked over, instantly panicking as they saw him. "What do we do?!"

"I don't know!" I hissed, still very aware of the fact that my tentacle was still preventing Killer from falling into the pit.

X let out a cackle, waking closer. "You can't run boys~"

Oh we're so dead.

"Nightmare..." Cross mumbled, his grip on me tighter than ever before.

"Hm?"

"...Drop him."

I blinked, looking down at him. "Wh--"

"D-Drop Killer." He said, glancing back at X in a panic. "J-Just do it! W-We all need to go down there if we want to escape him!"

Everyone looked over at him in shock. "WHAT?!"

"W-We need to jump down!" He stuttered, tugging on my arm. "N-Nighty trust me!"

I flinched, glancing down the pit before back at X. He was nearly upon us.

"Oh god you better be right about this--"

The others panicked. "WaIT NIGHTMARE NO--"

Before they could scream, my tentacles shoved them in, pushing all of the terrified skeletons into the pit.

"NO!" X yelled, suddenly running towards us.

"That's our cue!" I yelled, grabbing onto Cross tightly before jumping down.

The last I heard was X's deafening screech of frustration before the floor slammed back into place, flooding us with darkness.
