17 | DEEP INSIDE THE VERY DRAMATIC SCENE

Once seated inside the car, both the detectives had their adrenaline rushing with all sorts of negative thoughts and possibilities occurring in their minds. "What do you think of Jieyang?" Jennie asked, fixing her streaks. She looked at the time on her Titan watch, it was just five-thirty pm but the sun rays and bright sky had already taken their leave.

Keeping a hand under his chin, Taehyung scrolled through his phone whilst replying, "She seems really honest. Her answers were direct, and she didn't take more than thirty seconds to reply. Either she is the most honest person, or she is a great actor. What about you?"

"I agree with you, Tae. Her aura was so bold, and she knew what she was speaking. I really believe what she told us. Although, I am still a bit taken aback that for years, Lisa was worried about something that never took place," Jennie responded, chugging down a glass of water.

Opening the tainted window glass, and taking in some fresh air, Taehyung mumbled, "I am really curious about Lisa's trauma with suicides. What if it's related to the case?"

"True that," Jennie answered, "although, I am only worried about what happened to that number right now. Chaeryeon sounded so worried on the phone. I'll kill a bitch if it is hacked again because it is the most irritating thing ever."

"What happened?" Taehyung asked—which sounded more like shouting, once he and Jennie entered the hotel room which they had for the day. It smelt like lavender with tons of yellow lights turned on.

Chaeryeon pushed a strand of her hair behind, sighing loudly, "The number is deleted. Their SIM card, location, IP address, all is gone. Either all of it is gone, or it has been hidden from us because I cannot see anything like that anymore."

Jennie threw her blue purse on the bed, ready to pull her hair in frustration, "Chaeryeon, are you kidding me? How come you were working on the number, ready to extract all the damn information they had to fucking offer, but it got deleted? Didn't Roseanne literally serve it all already? You just had to decode it. Is that such a hard task to do?"

"Calm down babe, it cannot be her fault" Taehyung mumbled to his partner before speaking loudly, "Only the decoding and downloading part had to be done. Where did the problem come from Chaeryeon?"

The assistant stood up, not looking into the detective's eyes, "Sir, I swear, I was just working on it, and suddenly the IP Address, SIM card and location, all were gone. It happened so quickly."

"Things like this don't happen as slow as a turtle, do they?" Jennie asked, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow.

Able to feel the anger that was fuming in Jennie, the male was quick to take the further conversation into his own hands, "Chaeryeon, this is really disappointing. Knowing that it had been hacked once already, you should have been extra careful. How will you even become a detective yourself, if this is your progress. You've been with us for two years, and still such a foolish mistake?"

"I'm really sorry, I should have decoded the others first, before the messages," Chaeryeon apologized, with her head hung low as for the first time she could feel a huge disappointment and furiousness in the detectives' voices as they talked to her.

Jennie chuckled, "Will your sorry bring back the number and its details? If yes, then please, keep apologizing."

Biting her lip intensely, there was indeed no reply to that from the other side. After a few minutes of silence, Taehyung asked tiredly, "Did you decode the messages and download them, at least? or that has flown away with the wind as well?"

Keeping the laptop on the desk, the assistant nodded, "I've decoded and downloaded every single text that was sent to Ms Manoban. They are in the fifth folder."

Taking a seat on the armchair, Jennie proceeded to open the folder, after speaking, "I'm impressed that you managed to save something. Your work has been done for the day. Before you go to do whatever you want, please fix an appointment with Min Sanya, for tomorrow evening, at nine pm at any nice restaurant."

And with those words, Chaeryeon nodded and left the room. Pulling another chair, Taehyung spoke, "Damn, you really are pissed. You went harsh on her, but not really complaining."

"It's unprofessionalism for me," Jennie replied, "let's open these folders, shall we?"

t/w: brief descriptions of suicide

"These all are videos or pictures," Taehyung murmured, gulping as he opened one of the many pictures and video clips that were assembled there.

**Holding onto a long cloth, tying it around the neck and the fan which hung from the ceiling. The unfamiliar figure, whose face wasn't visible due to the lightening then pushed downwards, with the screams echoing throughout. And within a few more minutes, the body became still. Dead completely.**

Jennie gasped, clutching onto her partner's arm, taken aback by the sudden traumatizing video. Her breath was hitching, "What the fuck is this?" Taehyung didn't seem that terrified, but was definitely astonished, "No idea. Let's see a few more."

The second one was a GIF of a hand was slit with blood gushing out. It was evident that the nerve was cut, and the person had committed suicide. Jennie closed her eyes, her grip on his arm tightening.

As Taehyung clicked on the third one, it was another video.

**Holding onto a glass, a liquid filled it completely. The label of the bottle became visible a few seconds later, as it read POISON, and then another unfamiliar figure took the glass, chugging it all down in one go. And then, the body fell on the ground, the glass shattering into pieces along with it**

"This is so...disgusting," Jennie whispered, ready to well out with tears. Gently sliding his hand on her back to calm down, Taehyung played the fourth video.

**On the terrace of the tall building, known as Hwang-Bin hotel, a person looked towards the camera before looking down at the bustling streets, with cars looking like lightbulbs from the huge height. And with one blink of the eye, the person had jumped. Left the world, to be exact.**

And without wasting another minute, Jennie closed the laptop, not able to look at it for any longer. "I cannot believe this, why would the person send so many videos illustrating suicide to Lisa, a few days after her wedding was announced," Taehyung asked in a sultry tone.

Joining her hands in her lap, Jennie replied, "Isn't it obvious? They were trying to bring back Lisa's trauma about suicide and trigger her."

author's note:

As a person who has been suicidal multiple times, I just want to tell you all that suicide isn't a joke. This chapter is not just triggering, it's an insight on how people end their life daily, with multiple means. Talk to someone, if possible a therapist if such thoughts ever come to our mind. Remember, you're not alone in this. Somewhere, a person who loves you and will understand you exists. Never give up 💗
