11.1 | A SYMPHONY OF LIES
As the detective duo sat together in the car, Jennie noticed how Taehyung was looking annoyed as he harshly stepped on the speed pedal. "What are you thinking?" she asked, taking out a small lip gloss from her bag. He stole a glance at her rearview mirror, "I am amazed and irritated at the same time. This killer is faster than us, always one step ahead. They exactly know what our next step will be as if they are tracking us."
Jennie nodded, the pink make-up material highlighting the shade of her cherry blossom lips, "Hmm, and also the fact that they easily passed the security and got into the house. Then ripped those images and jammed the door so we would think no one entered the room."
Taehyung pushed his window down, the cool breeze hitting his smooth-like-honey skin, as he responded, "You were totally correct when you said that this murder is way too well planned. Whoever did this knows exactly what they are doing. This for sure isn't just a one month plan which worked out perfectly. This murder was planned for a long time and it seems like they must have researched about the cases we have solved because they tend to know what exactly may be going through our minds."
"The pictures must hold some meaning. Or else, why would someone probably involved in the crime, come to such a secured place and take the risk of getting caught," Jennie spoke. Taehyung who was bothered by the fact before, now calmed down, "Exactly. These pictures must hold some clue. Maybe that had a picture of someone who had a possible connection to the killer or they may be of the killer himself."
Jennie's phone then buzzed, as she took it out. A text message from their assistant. "Chaeryeon has delivered all the boxes of those pictures to my house," she told him as he immediately spoke, "That's where we are going then."

"Here are all the pictures," Jennie spoke as they both sat in her house which was designed in an incredible victorian manner. The walls were in a beautiful shade of lilac, perfectly contrasting the French pink carpets that laid down. They seemed to emit a nostalgic aura, drowning the other shades into its melancholic beauty. On the staircase walls, several paintings were hanging, all made from oil brushes and each carried its own hidden meaning that made many people wonder if the house belonged to a French queen in the 80s.
On the marble table, all pictures which were torn down spread widely with many files and papers kept next to them. Taehyung picked one of the pictures where a man had his arm hanging around Lisa's shoulder as she smiled into the camera, "This photo. Lisa is standing with someone and the photo is cut exactly from where the other person would be visible. So maybe this is the person who the invader wanted to remove."
"What if it's not only one? See this picture, here two faces are cut. It seems like the invader knew exactly which photos to pick and cut which persons face," Jennie said showing him the picture. Taehyung slumped on the couch, taking a sip of coffee as he tilted his head, "We won't find our answers by sitting here."
Jennie sat next to him, their hands brushing against each other but it didn't matter at the moment, she squinted her eyes, "Where should we go then." Taehyung leaned over, holding the picture of Lisa and her grandma in one hand while a picture of Lisa in her University. The corner of his mouth turned into a small smile, "One of us should visit her grandma and the other should go to her University."
"Sounds good. We can cover more information that way," Jennie spoke, keeping her cup on the table with a small clank. Taehyung immediately started writing something on his tablet, "Do you want to take Chaeryeon with you?" Pulling her blue blazer on, Jennie shook her head, "I don't think I need her to be with me while I interrogate a seventy-year-old lady. Maybe, you should take her, since the University is a huge place."

Itaewon University looked like a palace, from its tall white building structure and a garden that stretched on all sides, it had a magnificent appearance. Taehyung leaned on his car, waiting for Chaeryeon to arrive. "This girl isn't even popular but takes more time than a freaking celebrity," he mumbled to himself, staring at his wristwatch. Heaving a long sigh when a white car came into view and stopped right next to his. Chaeryeon slipped out of the vehicle, as she gave him a small arm hug, "Hello Taehyung!"
"Homegirl really came late to work, called her boss by his name and hugged him. The audacity of this generation," he replied, pretending to see in another direction. The blonde couldn't help but chuckle at his sarcasm, "We're still not on duty. I only call you sir when you're in the middle of an inquiry. Moreover, you're more like a brother to me."
Taehyung nodded, "Yeah, a brother that pays you a good amount of money every month. Anyways, let's go inside." The interior of the university was even comelier, from so many trophies and medals hanging inside the glass shelf, to a huge television screen that displayed a drone view of the academy. Chaeryeon couldn't help but gawk at how it looked like a royal place, as she murmured, "Wow this is beautiful. It looks like a mansion, so different from my trash university. Are all the kids here rich?"
The male ran his eyes all around, slowly responding to her question, "Almost all students here got admitted through scholarship. Other than that, just kids from a rich background." They passed a huge board where all the students' name who had the best marks were written. It read "Johnny Suh, Cha Eunwoo, Ahn Hee-Yeon, Son Seung-wan, Kim Min-Seok, Kim Namjoon, Lee Ji-Eun, Park Kyung."
The female whispered all the names as they both stood in front of it, "Wow, they have such a fancy board for all the toppers." Taehyung took a small picture of it, "Unlike Lisa who came to University for gossiping and relationships, these students actually wanted to study." As the two continued to roam the huge hall, a tall guy with blue eyes and orange hair walked up to them, lending Taehyung a hand for a handshake, "Hello, you must be Mr Kim. I am here to escort you to Ms Park office."
Taehyung shook his hand, smiling politely as he replied, "Oh glad to see that somebody came. We were about to get lost." As the three started walking, the boy asked them, "So what brings you here?" Taehyung gazed around the wooden hallway as he responded, "Murder case about Lalisa Manoban. I'm sure you must have heard about her."
The guy scoffed, "Who hasn't. She was one of the few rich kids in the university. She used to live like royalty and got treated like a queen. We, kids from a middle and lower class family have to study our asses off to have a life like her, while she already had everything one could desire for. She was the queen bee."
"It seems like no one liked Lisa," Chaeryeon spoke as the boy nodded, "Truly. The ones who clicked with her were only because of her wealth." Taehyung snickered, "Death doesn't come to your way by looking at how the path looks like. It only looks at where the path goes."
"Wise words Mr Kim. We have reached the office," the boy told them, opening the door, revealing a huge room, as a lady who seemed like was in her early-fifties sat on a huge armchair. "Good afternoon, Mr Kim and Ms Choi, please have a seat."
As they both took a seat and the boy stood behind them, the principal removed the huge piles of paper from her desk, "I assume that you have come here to know more about miss Lisa." Taehyung passed a small smile, "Of course we are. So, Lalisa Manoban, how much do you know about her?"
"Of course, she was the epitome of beauty. Every university student was in love with her even my own son," the lady paused for a while before chuckling, "she had this aura around her that made people bow in front of her. Wonderful child."
Chaeryeon rolled her eyes, sarcastically speaking, "It wasn't the aura, it was the money, wasn't it?" Taehyung glared at her the minute she finished her sentence, as they noticed the expression of the principal change into an awkward one. Taehyung turned back to the principal, "You said that she had a lot of lovers. About her death, maybe a stalker situation?"
The principal slowly shook her head, denying it completely, "Well, I am not sure but we have a university captain here so girls are advised to tell them if somebody is troubling them on campus." Not satisfied with her answer, Taehyung asked her another question, "Any students she ever had a huge fight with?"
"Well, I remember her having a fight with Sanya in their freshmen year. It was a big fight so they both were suspended for a week," the lady replied. Taehyung kept a hand under his chin, "Do you have records of your students that we can have access to?"
Nodding with pride, the principal responded, "We sure do. We have a database system that includes information about every student that has ever attended our university but when Lisa attended, it wasn't as great as it is now. We do have all the project files and teacher feedbacks in the storage room but they are useless. I don't think it would help you."
"I would still like to see them. It was a pleasure meeting you," Taehyung said, shaking her hand. The lady stood up, "Do you want me to ask someone to escort you?" but the male detective politely said a no, "We'll find our way around, please don't trouble yourself."
As the two turned around, they noticed how the principal immediately pulled out her phone. Chaeryeon looked around, puzzled, "Sir, this place is huge. You should have agreed and let Ms Park call a student for our help. I don't even remember from which way did we enter."
Taehyung looked at her, "Do you really think that old lady was saying the truth and we should have accepted her offer?"
