07 | WELCOME TO SOUTH KOREA
"What are you two doing?"
Darting her gaze towards the front, Aran Manoban stared at both of them ruthlessly with his arms crossed. Jennie internally cried with frustration because he was the last person she wanted to see right now. When she noticed that Jisoo didn't have any plans to speak, she sighed loudly, "We were just talking."
Aran gave them his typical as-if-I-believe that face which Jennie found really annoying. "Talking? More like questioning? You detectives really cannot leave people alone for a while, can you?"
"We are detectives and questioning is our job," Jennie said boldly, shoving her hair behind her shoulder. Aran looked irritated, as if someone told him that the sun rises from the west, "I understand it's your job but can you just show a little sympathy and allow us to breathe. We have lost a family member. You definitely don't know the feeling of losing a family member because if you did, you certainly won't be pestering us."
Clenching her fists, she stared at him sharply, "What gives you the right to make assumptions about people's lives?"
Jennie did expect him to apologize but who was she kidding? He just scoffed, taking out a small cigar from his shirt's pocket and then a lighter. "Jisoo, just come back to our room. These people won't even let you breathe in here?" he said, blowing out a cloud of smoke while the tone of his voice calmed down.
Jisoo didn't think twice before standing up and walking away. Jennie walked out of Jisoo's suite, closing the door tightly. Walking into her suite which smelt like raspberry, she tried to comprehend everything. The family wasn't helping her and that's what made her suspicious about them. A minute later, Taehyung entered the room still on the phone call.
"Thank you for your help. I will see her tomorrow. Good evening"
Hanging up, he slipped his phone in his back pocket, looking at Jennie with confusion. "Weren't you talking with Jisoo? How come you are done so early?"
The corner of Jennie's mouth twitched with uneasiness, "That jerk interrupted us. Jisoo was so close to saying that the Manobans paid the government and if we had this proof of her accepting it, we could have filed a report against them. I don't know Taehyung...but I feel like the Manobans are hiding something."
"Hmmm" he mumbled, tilting his head writing something on a notepad, "I think so too, and not just the Manobans, even Jisoo. She definitely knows what they are hiding."
Jennie opened her laptop, accessing a specific file that had been mailed to her an hour back. It had the list of everyone who contacted Lisa on a daily basis and who conversed with her for long hours. While typing something, she murmured, "Who were you talking to by the way?"
He smiled satisfactorily, "I managed to get in touch with Choi Aiza's manager. I asked for an appointment and so I am meeting her tomorrow."
Jennie turned around, totally unaware of what he was talking about, "Can you elaborate please?"
"We are meeting Ten's ex-girlfriend tomorrow, and guess what? I found out she was in Barcelona the day Lisa was murdered."

The next day, the South Korean airport was overcrowded. A huge swarm of reporters stood at the gate with black mics concealed to their hands and flashing cameras recording them. A reporter who had long brown hair spoke in her mic, "You're watching XYZ news and we're standing at Seoul International Airport. The two private jets which belong to the multi-millionaires Manoban family and the famous detective pair Kim Taehyung and Jennie Kim have just landed."
Another reporter spoke, "Lalisa Manoban died two weeks back at her own wedding. Our secret sources have told us that no strong evidence has been found yet and unfortunately this murder was nicely planned."
Suddenly everyone stopped speaking and then started shouting, as everyone stepped into the terminal. Ireshi Manoban and David Manoban leading the front while Aran and Jisoo followed closely. On the other hand, Jennie and Taehyung were walking slowly, whispering to each other. Four pair of bodyguards had surrounded the six and suddenly, two reporters busted in the centre, asking their questions, their cameramen following them.
"Mr Aran Manoban, your younger sister has been murdered. How are things going on?"
Aran bit his lip, "Things have been difficult. I find it so weird to not hear Lisa calling my name but I guess we have to move on." His face was suddenly brimming with tears. Taehyung whispered in Jennie's ear, "Was he always this good in acting?" Jennie in response just shook her head nonchalantly, "Must be the media effect."
A reporter pushed a mic in front of Jennie, "Ms Kim, is there any suspect yet? Anyone, you think who might have done the murder?"
One? She could name four. As much as Jennie wanted to name Aran Manoban who was faking tears in the front, she managed to control herself and just reply, "We're still working and this information is confidential. We're not going to share any such guesses until we have proper evidence."
"Jisoo, you lost your best friend who did so much for your make up brand. How does it feel?" a reporter queried Jisoo. She sadly smiled, "When I made this brand the first-ever person I signed in was Lisa. She became the brand ambassador of my brand. She helped me so much. I started getting popular with people because she was always on the covers of my look book. She made me who I am and losing her feels like I lost a piece of myself"
Jennie raised her eyebrows, blinking a bit as she spoke to Taehyung, "Gosh. I find that answer so pathetic. Does she want people's sympathy or something? She is finally going to make some revenue off her company."
"Wasn't she making enough already?"
Jennie fixed the hem of her shirt before replying, "She did make money but almost all of it went to Lisa's fees as brand ambassador. She was Jisoo's best friend but the girl still had her priorities sorted. Money is always first."
A reporter asked Taehyung next, "Why have you all returned to Seoul when the murder took place in Barcelona? Any specific reason?"
Taehyung wanted to answer sarcastically that it was because some people loved their stocks more than people but he just couldn't. "The guests were very very dissatisfied because they had to be there forcefully. The Manobans too had business to attend and we thought that we could meet way more helpful people and find much more evidence."
Another went to David Manoban, "First, the death of your dear daughter, Lisa and now your stocks are going down. It's been a tough month for the Manoban hasn't it?"
David Manoban sighed, a sense of sorrow present, "Yes it has been hard losing our daughter and also losing our spot in the charts as the best jewellers in South Korea but we will sure try our best to get back on track"
The same reporter proposed another question, "Do you think Lisa would get justice?"
"She will and I will make sure of it. She was my precious daughter. She was so sweet, caring and kind towards others but still, she was so gruesomely killed." Ireshi Manoban replied, sobbing.
Taehyung snorted lightly, "Wow they really are changing their colours just like, chameleon." Jennie nodded, totally agreeing with him, "That's one of the traits of being rich. You learn how to lie so you can keep your image high."
One last reporter pushed himself in the crowd, asking the duo, "Jennie and Taehyung, you two are known to solve the hardest case in South Korea. Do you think this case would be solved too?"
Jennie smiled confidently, "Of course, it will. We will make sure Lisa gets the justice she deserves." The reporter didn't look amused, instead, he asked another question, "There has been a rumour that the murderer is a female. Is it true?"
Taehyung shook his head, "Rumours are just rumours until confirmed. I would say as a reporter, you should believe in facts. We will get to the bottom of this, and now if you allow us, we have a case to solve"

That particular evening, Kim Taehyung stood in front of his mirror, lazily buttoning his shirt as he looked at his wristwatch, 5:08 pm. Returning to South Korea was hectic and while in the jets, he and Jennie had worked on reading more stuff related to the case, unlike the Manobans who were probably dozing off.
Not lying, he actually forgot how Korea looked like after spending just two weeks in Spain and it was weird to see everyone speaking Korean and not Spanish. He wasn't nervous at all to meet Aiza, why should he be. But he was just wondering if Aiza would even talk properly because from what he found on the Internet, Aiza wasn't the most social person on Earth.
The doorbell suddenly rang, as he groaned because he wasn't in the favour of climbing down the stairs and then again coming back upstairs. But when the doorbell rang again, he cursed at the person and finally opened the door.
It was none other than Jennie. Standing at the gate of his house, her peach cream shirt well tucked as she looked at him, her facial expression making it obvious that she wants to come inside. Jennie lived three blocks away from his villa but they both spent the time 24/7 so at times he wondered if they should just move in together.
"I had an amazing nap. I was seriously trying to work but my eyes said no," Jennie whined as she entered his room. Taehyung nodded, spraying his cologne on his shirt, "I was researching about this lady, Choi Aiza. She is not a really friendly person, I heard."
Jennie turned around immediately, "That's not really good. And also, that reminds me I am not coming with you to meet her."
"Why?" he asked, perplexed.
Poking her tongue on her inner cheek, Jennie smiled with a sense of determination, "I found this number that contacted Lisa a lot after she started dating Ten. They called Lisa like eight times on the day before her wedding. It's an unknown number and is blocked. I am trying to trace it. You meet Aiza, and I will work on this."
author's note:
Ten and Lisa actually collabed in real life ya'll!!! My NCTZEN heart fell in love with Ten for the 100th time again and Ten is one of my ten biases in nct (SJSJSJ)
Also, the writing in this chapter is trash so it will go into editing soon. Sorry for disappointing ya'll with such terrible writing. Ya'll deserve a better author. I promise the next will be WAY BETTER
