02 | A MURDER CASE

Isn't it ironic sometimes how you were supposed to attend a grand wedding but all of a sudden you find yourself stuck in the funeral...the funeral of the bride itself? It doesn't take much time for everything to change. In a matter of you a few seconds, your whole life can turn upside down like it never used to be the way it was. In a blink, problems start to cloud together and shatter you in pieces. The pieces which can never be joined back together

In this huge universe, we all have people whom we cherish a lot. And when these people leave us, we feel like a piece of us got lost and in this huge world, we will never be able to find this missing piece. It feels like a part of your body was taken away from you. Snatched to be exact. Everything seems to lose its colour and everything around you give flashbacks of the moments...which you wish never took place so you weren't as hurt as you are today.

For some people, their worst nightmare is seeing a loved one die. For Lalisa Manoban's family and friends, this nightmare came true.

The very next day, the Manobans, the Lees and Jisoo, sat together in the huge hotel lobby alone once they had allowed Lisa's body to be taken to a morgue. Yes, a morgue. The autopsy report would be issuing by tomorrow night and that's only when the funeral can take place.

No one dared to speak. No one had anything to say. Everyone was at a loss for words. Aran had tried to convince himself that this was just a bad dream and when he wakes up, he will still be hugging his mother, telling her that Lisa and Ten will have an amazing married life.

Jisoo uncomfortably shifted on the couch, thinking that she should have never opened that door. The traumatizing image of Lisa's lifeless body was still wandering in her mind like a homeless person seeking shelter.

Messages that conveyed sentimental feelings filled Ten's phone. Everyone who knew him was expressing their sorrow with short, comforting messages. How could he tell them that their messages were depressing him even more? He didn't want to believe that Lisa was dead. Wasn't it like a few weeks back when she was standing in front of him, agreeing to his proposal? The stolen pictures and millions of hashtags were trending in South Korea, addressing this horrifying news.

Aran leaned towards the table, breaking the silence with a simple yet cryptic statement.

"Lisa was murdered. Her murderer is out there, somewhere. Instead of crying, we should find out who it is."

The sentence quickly got everyone off guard as they turned their heads towards Aran who looked deeply immersed in his thoughts. And that's when common sense kicked in. It was pretty obvious that Lisa was murdered and there was no point in crying when they can find out who caused this huge mess. Vindictiveness was already filling their blood, and there was no time to lose.

Jisoo pushed her hair backwards, sniffing and wiping her tears before speaking up with a cracked voice, "I have two friends, who work as crime investigators. They are the best in South Korea. They are not working on any case right now. I think you should hire them."

With swollen eyes, but a demanding tone, Mr Manoban asked "What are their names, Jisoo?"

Jennie Kim and Kim Taehyung stepped out of their private jet, the very next day. Jennie removed her sunglasses, only to see a huge crowd of paparazzi standing by the gate. She looked at Taehyung, who sighed. "The jet lag was enough already, why do we have to face them," Jennie whispered before taking a step.

"Why are you whining like we have another choice," Taehyung replied, before pulling his small suitcase. In return, Jennie eye-rolled instead of responding.

As they got closer towards the gates, the sound of the flashing cameras and the reporters bugging them with questions grew louder.

"Is it true that you two are the ones who will be investigating miss Manoban's case?" a reporter asked, pushing the mic in front of them. Taehyung took a small breath before responding, "Yes, it is true."

Another step and one more reporter asked a question, "This time, the case is connected within two different countries, in two different continents. Do you think it will be hard to solve this one?"

Jennie took a small pause before answering, "We will try our best. No matter how hard the case is, we will surely try to solve it. Now if you excuse us, we have more important things to do."

Making their way out of the huge array, the Kims spotted their driver standing by the road.  Before tucking inside, Taehyung requested the driver, "Please take us to the Hospital Clinic."

Professionalism

It was quick to enter the Kims personalities once they entered the hospital clinic, the best sanatorium in Barcelona. Entering the morgue, Taehyung immediately asked the staff about the autopsy while Jennie made her way inside the mortuary.

Jennie closed her eyes when the nurse slowly pulled Lisa's body freezer. Even though Jennie was seeing these dead bodies for more than two years now, it still saddened her every time she saw one. She slowly looked at Lisa's ice-cold pale skin. At some parts, her skin was black, probably because of the frozen blood. Her eyes were peacefully closed and so were her lips. Jennie looked at her wrist, which looked so vulnerable.

Immediately wearing her examining gloves, Jennie looked at Lisa's wrist. A huge scar lied there, with deep black spots all around it. Jennie scanned her eyes all around, no other scar or wound. She looked at the nurse, nodding as a signal to close it.

Jennie walked out, slowly pulling out her gloves. Taehyung grabbed her by the arm softly, showing her the autopsy papers.

"Lisa was not just killed with a sharp blade."Jennie cocked an eyebrow, "Then?"

Taehyung pointed to a statement which was written in bold on the papers

"She was poisoned as well"
