The worst is over... right?

So I asked this writer if they'd like to add a story here, all welcome A_Bored_Reader Who brought to us quite a nice story :D

The crew finally arrived to their designed station after that long and gruelling journey. The sight of that space station on the moon after so long trapped in the space ship made more than one sigh in relief. The tension was still in there, but it was a bit more bearable now that the losses hadn't been in vain.

They might have lost people they cared about, more than coworkers, due to both suspicion and doubt. But they had finally arrived. In the distance, more crewmates, ones who had already arrived from other spaceships were waiting for them.

This was it. They did it.

Pink looked happy. This was obvious to anyone who saw her, as there was an extra skip to her steps that was usually missing under normal circumstances, yet the rest of the crewmates knew the real ugly truth.

The truth was, these were not happy circumstances for any of them. They were save now, sure, but they were still grieving, still injured and traumatised from the events that took place in the spaceship. A lot of crewmates had kids with them, too.

Yellow, cyan, red... Purple.

Pink was the one who took care of them, as she was the most qualified to care for the children. Green wanted to help, but at the same time... He decided it was better if he refrained. No matter how much all of them wanted to help Pink out, they didn't have the guts to face her.

Pink was more than likely not okay. The cheeriness, the bouncy steps and happy exterior only made everyone uncomfortable. But they understood it was necessary. She couldn't allow herself to show how hurt and broken she felt, because the kids would notice and they didn't deserve even more pain.

They were kids, they deserved to be happy. To laugh, to play, to be able to run around without fearing for their lives. Especially after their parents... Well. Some had been shot in the head, others were eaten or shredded to bits. It didn't paint a pretty picture, but the worst of all were the kids who saw everything happen.

Pink remembered the first days. None of the children talked, they just sat around moping and crying, some had even been unresponsive, just looking at the spot where their parents had been killed. She remembered holding each one, whispering sweet nothings to them as she cleaned the blood off of them. How they would look up at her and stare, latching at her space suit, not wanting to let go.

Pink was stressed. She couldn't cope with all of this, especially not purple's kid. That was his nephew, after all, and his brother Purple had...

She wished she could say the other had fallen bravely, doing his tasks even in the face of danger. That he persevered and went on with his tools and that cocky devil may care attitude of his when he inevitably fell to the monster that had been infiltrated on the ship. But sadly, that wasn't the truth.

For she witnessed it happening. No.

The rest of the crewmates looked ashamed at her, full of pity for the young woman who was taking care of the kids. Yet no one had the guts to even look at her helmet directly.

They had been the ones to eject Purple off the ship in the first place.

Pink hated them with a passion.
