Tabby

I woke up to a jolt of pain running across my stomach. I took deep breaths and glanced at Cress's side of the bed to find it empty. When I touched it, it was cold. How long had his side been empty?

Another pain ripped through my stomach as I stood up slowly, trying to breathe. I grabbed onto anything to balance myself as I experienced pain. Where the hell was Cress?

I grabbed the banister rail and made my way down the steps while I experienced more pain in my stomach. I wanted to die. If I wasn't in pain and Cress was here, I would kill him. But he's not.

I breathed to ease the constant pain in my stomach and back. Okay. I'll call an ambulance and have them take me to the hospital. Where did I put my phone?

After searching for my phone and dealing with stomach pains, I managed to dial 911. But I dropped my phone while gripping the counter. "I need help! I have pain!"

I couldn't hear the person's voice since my phone was on the floor. Then I started pissing myself. I looked down as water dropped to the floor between my legs. Okay, I know I don't have much bladder control, but that's a lot of piss.

I gripped the counter while trying to breathe before screaming. Oh, God! Someone shoot me! Put me out of my damn misery!

The front door flew open as Cress rushed toward me. "Tabby?"

"Where the fuck were you?" Another pain ripped through me. "Oh, God!"

"Come on. I need to get you to the couch." Cress lifted me and carried me to the couch.

"You're lucky I'm in pain, or I would kill you!"

Cress placed me on the couch and put a pillow behind my back. "Sweetheart, you don't want to kill me."

"Keep yelling yourself that! Aaaaahhhhh!"

Cress barked orders to someone. I didn't bother to look since I felt like someone was ripping apart my stomach.

The front door opened with Blaze ushering the doctor toward me.

She placed a sheet over my bent legs and got to work. "Tabby, I need you to push."

I did what the doctor ordered while Cress held me. It took a few pushes, but Kendall arrived. The doctor swaddled him in a blanket and handed him to Blaze. I pushed until Riley made her appearance. The doctor swaddled Riley in a blanket.

Gallic and a few others arrived to take us to the hospital.

Once we arrived, the doctor finished with me and cleaned me up. Cress kept growling at the doctor until she finished and left us alone. The door to the room opened as two nurses rolled to bassinets into the room. Cress lifted Kendall and handed him to me. Then he picked up Riley and joined Kendall and me in the bed.

I didn't need to question the babies' paternity. Our pups looked like me, except Riley was beautiful like her mother.

"Where were you this morning?" Tabby asked me.

"Blaze, Gallic, and I were hunting rogues. The brothers had spotted them close to the house."

"How did you know I was in labor?"

"Chaos sensed it and went apeshit. So, I headed home to you and our pups. Now the fucker is purring like a fucking kitten."

Tabby snorted a laugh.

I'm glad she found my situation amusing because I didn't. Chaos turned into a puppy around our mate and pups. At least no one will mess with our family if they want to keep breathing.

My anger dispersed at Cress once I held our babies. After holding Kendall, we switched so I could hold Riley. Both babies seemed contented in the comfort of our arms. It made me miss my parents a little less, not much, but a little.

"Are you okay, sweetheart?" Cress's voice turned soothing.

"I wish my parents could have seen the babies. They would have loved them."

"I'm sure your folks are here with you."

"What about your parents?"

"Rogues killed my parents when they were on a run. I took over the club and the pack after their deaths."

"How old were you?"

"Eighteen. It's another reason I hadn't found my mate. I was busy with the club."

"And now?"

"Now, you're my old lady. You have as much authority over the club as I do."

"What about meetings?"

"We call those church. Regular clubs don't allow women in church. But we're not a regular club. The president's old lady is the only one who attends church since she's the Luna of the pack. That reminds me. I need to introduce you officially to the club."

"I don't want to bring the babies around the club until I meet everyone officially."

"I agree." Cress nodded.

"I'll have Shirley watch the babies."

"I'll put two prospects on guard duty when you do. No one gets near our pups unless they want to fight Chaos."

I had no doubt Chaos would protect the twins. So that eased my mind a bit.

After Tabby's last encounter with a few members of the club, the brothers knew not to fuck up again. We had another issue with a few old ladies thinking they had a say in the club business. They didn't.

I didn't care if they were mates or not. No one says shit to Tabby if they want to breathe. The old ladies would learn firsthand how vicious my mate could be. I know. I dealt with her while working to earn her forgiveness. Tabby won't give an inch. I didn't expect her to.

The doctor checked Tabby and the twins but wanted to keep them overnight. I shifted into Chaos to guard them. If anyone would protect our mate and pups, it's Chaos.

Before anyone could enter the room, they had to tell Chaos their identity. Or he would rip them apart.

'Pups are special,' Chaos said.

'What do you mean?' I asked.

'The male has a special mate. The female has strength. Both will rule the pack with fairness and loyalty.'

'How do you know?'

'I know.' Chaos didn't utter another word and guarded our pups.

Kendall and Riley had the power to rule the pack once they found their mates and took their positions. But I'll worry about that later. Right now, my family has become my top priority.

Tabby

I awoke to a big, furry body pressed against me while looking at the back of a big ass head. I shifted in bed as Chaos turned his head and looked at me before his tail thumped the bed. "Morning, Chaos. Did the babies sleep?"

Chaos thumped his tail several times.

"I will take that as a yes. You watch the babies. I need to use the bathroom." I slid out of bed and shuffled to the bathroom to empty my bladder. I didn't need to worry about someone hurting the babies. Chaos wouldn't allow anyone near them except me.

I returned to my room and lifted Kendall from his bassinet so I could feed him. Chaos jumped off the bed and trotted out of sight. I didn't bother to figure out where he went. I pulled down my gown slightly as Kendall latched on and nursed.

A door opened with feet padding against the floor until Cress sat beside me in the bed dressed in only a pair of jeans.

"Where are the rest of your clothes?" I asked.

"I'm having Blaze bring them to me. I keep a pair of pants here in case I shift."

"Is every person naked after they shift?"

"Tabby, you've seen my wolf. I shred my clothes when I shift. And yes, we're naked when we shift back. You'll learn how to handle it after you shift."

"Does it hurt?"

"Only the first few times. Afterward, it becomes natural. I'll walk you through it."

I didn't want to think about life as a werewolf just yet. Couldn't I live in ignorant bliss for a while?

Once Blaze arrived with the rest of my clothes, I got dressed. Claudia brought Tabby a bag of clothes so she wouldn't wear a hospital gown at home. Claudia cooed over the twins with her swollen belly. It was only a matter of time before she and Aubrey popped.

After the doctor checked Tabby and the twins, she released my family. Tabby changed into the clothes Claudia brought her. I loaded Kendall and Riley into their car seats and carried them to an SUV waiting for us.

I put the twins in the backseat and helped Tabby inside. Then, I climbed behind the steering wheel. Chaos stayed close to the surface to ensure nothing got near our mates and pups. Chaos is an asshole, but he's overprotective of our mates and pups.

We arrived home and found Gallic and Aubrey waiting outside. Blaze and Claudia's car was right behind us. We parked and got out. Aubrey approached the twins to greet them. I had to rein in Chaos so he didn't attack Aubrey. It helped when Tabby rubbed my upper arm to soothe Chaos.

Now, to get settled with the twins before Tabby's first shift. I would need to protect the twins while helping Tabby through her first transformation. So, I put Blaze and Gallic in charge of our pups when it happened. They better not fuck it up for their sake.
