Grovel, you mutt
Tabby
Since Cress refused to leave, I was going to enjoy torturing him. I could do that until I decided to let him bite me. I'm still unsure of that whole deal.
Cress would try to talk to me while I ignored him. Let's see how he feels to fuck off. It's not a pleasant feeling, is it?
When Cress tried to approach me, I avoided him like fleas infested his stupid ass. He could have fleas for all I knew and got them from some bitch. That reminds me. I need to visit a pet store.
I grabbed some cash and my purse and started for the door when the mutt spoke.
"Where are you going?"
I turned to face him with my arms folded. "I need to go shopping for supplies."
"I'll take you."
"No, you won't. I don't need a babysitter since I survived alone for a month without you."
Cress stared at me without blinking.
I left the house before he could stop me and climbed into my car. I backed out and drove to the local pet store. Once I arrived, I grabbed a hand basket and put items in it that I would need. Let's see. I needed flea dip and a flea collar—a muzzle, a leash, and a deterrent spray when Cress marked his territory. We don't need any pesky odors in the cottage.
The cashier rang up my items and placed them in two bags. I paid her, grabbed my purchases, and ignored Cress's presence as I got into my car. I figured he would follow me around like a lost puppy. I'll change that quickly.
I arrived home, removed the items from the plastic bags, and set them on the table.
Cress noticed the dog stuff on the table. "What's all this?"
"Since you enjoy humping and dumping females, I bought flea shampoo. We wouldn't want any pesky bugs to hinder your appeal to jump random strangers."
"Tabby."
"Oh, I bought you a flea collar to protect you. You can never be too careful. We wouldn't want the fleas to multiply and trap you, would we? Oh, look. Here's a leather muzzle to keep you from saying stupid shit. It's quite durable."
"Tabby."
"Oh, I also got you a leash. We wouldn't want you to fuck off to the point no one can find you, can we? And if that doesn't work, we have a nice deterrent from you marking your territory like most dogs."
"Tabitha!"
"Oh, did I forget to buy you a bed? Silly me. I tend to be forgetful."
"Enough! I get it."
I folded my arms and raised my brow.
"What can I do to get you to forgive me?"
"Grovel, you mutt."
Cress clenched his jaw but didn't argue with me. What could he say that he didn't already say on the phone?

Fuck my life. Thanks to that dickhead, Hardy, and his stupid bitch, Tabby was pissed at me. My mate was nothing like what I expected, especially now. It didn't help that she was human, so that the bond couldn't help me.
I gathered up the dog items and dumped them in the trash. "There's no need for that bullshit. I kicked any bitch who wasn't a mate out of the clubhouse after I met you. Chaos had his fun with the asshole and two bitches who pulled their shit on you. You won't need to worry about them again. But I will do whatever it takes for you to forgive me. If that means groveling, so be it."
Tabby looked at me before shaking her head and heading upstairs.
While alone downstairs, I called Gallic and had him bring me my laptop and clothes. If Tabby refused to leave, I would take care of business here.
Gallic arrived with my stuff. I set up the laptop on the kitchen table and checked on my businesses before getting to work.
"I'm guessing things didn't go well between you and Tabby," Gallic said.
I shook my head. "No. Tabby doesn't believe me, and I don't blame her."
Gallic took a seat across from me. "Cress, you can't expect to order someone like Tabby around like you do with others. It doesn't work."
"I never dealt with a mate or a human mate for that matter."
"Mates want unconditional love. Aubrey expects nothing but my love and loyalty. It would help if you showed Tabby the same thing. You can stop being an asshole as a start."
"I don't do nice."
"You don't have a choice if you want your mate to forgive you." Gallic knew not to poke me further. He got up and left quietly so as not to disturb Tabby. I would beat him within an inch of his life if he did.
After checking on my businesses, I contacted the school and paid for Tabby's education in full. If my old lady wanted a college degree in business, she would get one without the added stress of the cost. Then, I searched for those fuckers who caused her nothing but grief. Once I located them, I sent my brothers to get what belonged to Tabby.
It seems her mother's family was embezzling from Tabby's mother for years since her mother's grandfather left her his estate worth millions. The fucker didn't trust his family, with good reason. They were greedy assholes. Her father's family was no better than they struck a deal with her mother's family. These assholes had more skeletons in their closets than anyone.
Once I finished with my business, I made Tabby something to eat. She needed to eat for our pups and herself. The bedroom door opened with footsteps padding down the steps as Tabby appeared in the kitchen.
"What are you doing?" She glanced at me as I turned into Betty fucking Crocker, apron and all.
"Making you food so you can eat. Why?"
"You know how to cook?"
"Yes."
"I don't know if I should trust you not to poison me."
"Then, I'll poison myself. Take a load off before your feet swell."
Tabby hesitated before sitting at the table. I finished cooking and brought two plates to the table. I set one in front of her before sitting across from her. Tabby sniffed the food before taking a bite. The minute she tasted the food, she dug in. We ate in silence. It was better than arguing.
"I paid for your schooling," I said.
Tabby's head snapped up. "Why would you do that?"
"So, you don't stress while earning your degree. You can focus on your classes."
"I didn't ask you to pay for my schooling,"
"No, you didn't. I wanted to."
Tabby stared at me briefly before lowering her gaze to her food. "Thank you."
"Look at me."
Tabby lifted her gaze to me.
"Don't ever lower your eyes to me. You're better than that."
Tabby nodded and returned to her food.
I wouldn't have Tabby act unworthy of me. If anything, I was undeserving of her.

I didn't understand Cress. From what I read, alphas expected others to submit to them. Yes, I started reading about werewolves to figure out this shit. I had so many questions.
"What?" Cress asked, surprising me.
"Huh?"
"You seem confused."
"I am."
"Then ask your questions." Cress chewed his food while looking at me.
"I read wolves only have other wolves as mates. How did you get a human for a mate?"
"The moon goddess decides who your mate is."
"What's a moon goddess?"
"She's a goddess of the moon, which rules us. She decides who the mates are. She guides us as she rules us. We answer to her."
"Do you regret getting a human for a mate?"
Cress shook his head. "I didn't care who my mate was when I found her. My mate would stand beside me. She would rule alongside me. But I would need to turn her if we had pups."
"So, why did you give me that stupid test?"
"I had women claim I fathered their children, which was impossible. I would never have children with someone who wasn't my mate. I had DNA tests conducted to prove their claims false. They pissed off Chaos."
"Who's Chaos?"
"My wolf. The asshole got his name because he enjoys causing chaos and doesn't care. But he and I will protect you."
"That's who I saw in the woods that one night."
Cress nodded. "I let Chaos out for a run. He caught your scent and saw rogues chasing you. Ever since then, he refused to let another female touch him."
I looked at Cress and blinked before finishing my dinner and leaving the kitchen. One dinner and civilized conversation weren't going to soften me toward Cress. He had to work his ass off for me and the babies. I refused to let my kids suffer because their dad was an asshole.
